you haven't lived until a random little kid ask you "how do you make love".
What is the general consensus of Ice Cube as a rapper? To me, he was BY FAR the best member of NWA, and everything he did from AmeriKKK'a Most Wanted-Lethal Injection is just the best to me. I can't really tell you any songs besides It Was A Good Day, Check Yo Self, No Vaseline, and You Know How We Do It, but I've listened to those albums in full many, many times.

I love his angry as shit stuff in NWA and AMW, and I'm all about G-Funk. I was so sad that no one in Top Five mentioned him until the credits scene with Jerry motherfucking Seinfeld (which was illegitimately one of the highlights of my year, and the movie in general is probably the 3rd best movie I saw all year behind The Winter Soldier and Gone Girl. Top Five is a good ass movie.)

I have no idea how he is perceived by rap fans. I think he's rad.
Ice is one of the goats of hiphop. although in recent years whether intentional or not it feels like he really tried to distance himself from the past.

bitch I'm taking calls.
Texting an 11 year old about how your dick is big and you want to fuck is just not acceptable on any level, even coming from another 11 year old. I would have stepped in and acted similarly to how the OP did. I don't expect kids to be pure saints but if I find out about that I'm not just going to sit on my hands.

I didn't read that far. Fuck.

I don't even think my dick WORKED at 11.

I probably would consider him for a top 10 position in a GOAT list. He was definitely the best rapper in NWA: No one else could have started Straight Outta Compton the way he did.

Anytime I think of old school West Coast rap artists I end up remembering Blackace and how he doesn't post on GAF anymore...

Nice. I've had other white people laugh at me when I'm in the car and Ice Cube shuffles on. Like they think it's a joke or something. But it's not. I love Ice Cube. I want a blimp. I need to know who got got. Today Was A Good Day and You Know How We Do It are essential G-Funk jams to me. G-Funk is my favorite subgenre of rippity rap by a lot. Followed by straight 80s full on hip hop rip rop don't stop stuff. Fun and playful. I was jamming the fuck out to Slick Rick the other day, though. Eye patch wearing story telling mother fucker.

Man, I was banging nannies at 6 and a half, bitch.

I discovered porn and jerking off at 12 so I mean I don't think it's that crazy this kid is at that level already. But private masturbation is one thing, texting another kid at 11 about how you want to have sex and how your dick is hard is fucked up. If not for that part I would have been inclined to advise the girl keep talking to her crush as long as parents or the sibling could supervise from time to time. 11 is just too young for a girl to be dealing with that shit, she will have enough issues very soon since girls enter puberty a lot sooner than boys.

man i felt so bad for him on that play. it was a great effort that turned into something really funny. but i knew that would instantly become the story of how "jameis lost the game" from the legions of media and fans that hate him. when really it was cook's fumbles and the defense that had already blew it by then.
I've seen more people presumptively say that the loss wasn't his fault than people blaming him for it. Most people are just laughing at how ridiculous that play was, not saying that it was the reason Florida State lost.

Sounds legitimately traumatic. :(

I wasn't banging nannies at 6. I didn't have nannies. I was exposed to porn probably a little early since I had HBO and Cinemax in my bed room around that age. But I wasn't banging early or trying to show people my dick until later than average.

At 9, this kid Javier brought a Polaroid of his brother's girl, spread eagle, about to take two dicks in her..that was mid-late 80s. I'd say it's the same as it ever was..

I personally always find it weird whenever people brag about sex at a very young age. For instance, yesterday my boss was bragging about how he was fucking adult women at age 12.

Even if he wasn't completely full of shit, I have no idea why that is something to brag about. That's sexual abuse/rape, you need to get some damn help.

his sister will now never tell him anything again, knowing that she'll just be shamed and mocked into submission, and probably just ask their peers for potentially ill advice.

Very few people on Gaf should be involved in raising kids. Ask Dy

What would you have done

I'm not JC, but personally, I would've nipped it in the bud, but explain to the girl exactly why I'm nipping it in the bud, while explaining the realities of sex, and why it's a bad idea to be sexually active at a young age, all without the slightest hint of ridicule, judgement, or insult.

It's pretty damn easy to find a logical solution to that problem if you're not a fool.

This is similar to what I would do as well. But I gotta disagree about it being easy to find a solution. I think it's hard to walk the line between curbing situations where kids are likely to get hurt but not doing it in a way that will send the wrong message. It's super easy for people to make snap decisions online and talk about how they would do it different.

But when it's your own kid and you see someone texting them that kind of thing you probably have a whole range of emotions you need to keep in check before you can make a rational decision. And then what if the kid takes it the wrong way anyway? And how do you know if you've effectively communicated which parts you are objecting to while still respecting their individuality and privacy?

Parenting seems scary as hell.

I cant stop laughing at the kid saying "my dick is super big." Sounds like some shit i wouldve said at that age.

Just imagine all the experiences of 'all the good ones'. Or asking if they are Spanish. Touching their hair. Real light ones being mistaken for white; we all know how some white people talk when they don't think any black people are around. Hell, you believing there isn't enough to fill up a documentary can be chapter 4. My mother in law talked about being raped by the white son of the family she worked for. Being light skin had some benefits and some curses. You didn't want to be a pretty black woman in the 50s. Too many men thinking her goods where their property. I do have a theory that some black women wanted to be fat and undesirable back in the day. I've never seem it addressed but to avoid rape, 'by any means necessary.'

Off topic but I want to meet that white girl who kept saying 'nigger knots and BB shots and Lil baby astronauts' when I was 4. I went in the house and repeated it.

My mom's face changed and was like, 'Don't ever say that again'.

Fair point. I didnt think it through that hard.

Pretty much. Roy already laid it down in the thread, but the OP turned what should have been a moment of education and understanding into one of shaming and humiliation. His sister will likely never talk to him or his parents about stuff like this again, which could bite them all in the ass in a couple years.

That kind of talk is totally inappropriate for an 11 year old, but there's a way to handle these things I think. Not an easy or perfect way, but a way nonetheless.

This Aaliyah remix...sounds so good.
As does this Amel Larrieux remix I'm shocked I like it considering how much I love the original. Speaking of, Amel's albums are so damn good.

The Amel remix was in my singles rotation. I love me some Amel. I recommend you listening to Soulection. And get the tracklist in the info section. There is a lot of remixes to hits played and you'll probably like a whole lot of them.

Rich Boy - Throw Some D's (Gravez VIP) [ft. DrewsThatDude]
Ahwlee - Unite (Queen Latifah's U.N.I.T.Y. remixed)
Amy Winehouse - Stronger Than Me (Alby Daniels Remix)
Chris Brown - Fine China (Kuma Remix)
Sango - That Freakin Glow (Zapp & Roger's Computer Love remixed)

5 from this chill mix I made from 3 (episode 193-195) of Soulection's podcasts. There a lot of gems in there.

the reality is a lot of kids are gonna talk and think about sex. Unless you put them in a cage somewhere or in some Amish community with no internet, its gonna happen. You could put your fingers in your ears and try to ignore it and hope ya kid just doesn't get/get somebody pregnant, you can yell/shame/beat your kids into submission stop thinking those evil thoughts even though studies show more states that do that kind of thing end up with more teen/pre-teen pregnancies than don't

OR

you could honestly talk to these young people about the good and bad elements of sex, warn them about the mental and physical maturity required for it, and teach them to be safe about if you ever did it. Its not telling them to go fuck anything with two legs, but you could arm your children with knowledge so they'd be safer, smarter, wiser when the situation inevitably crops up.

IDK, teaching your kids about the world so they know how to operate when they inevitably leave the nest seems like some parenting 101 shit, but what do I know, meh.

But 11 years old though. I have a 9 year old sister and I wouldn't think about talking to her about sex for at least 5 more years.

The reality is though that your sister isn't going to work on your schedule. You and your family are going to have to deal with it whenever it comes up.

hey, do you man. Just don't act shook when ya 12 year old sister lookin' like Brenda w/ a baby cuz nobody taught her a damn thing about the consequences of sex.

"Damn gurl...in a few more years I would have warned you about that shit ayy lmao"

I was roped into going to a co-worker's place a few times to play. I've played a lot over the years and with different groups. There are a lot of variations but essentially it's always the same game. It's a game of chance dependent on the cards you're dealt more than skill.

There was one variation that changed the whole game though that I wish was more widely accepted. Everyone rolls with blind 6, bid 10 you get 200, first hand bids itself etc. But no one is really open to 10 sand bags is a 100 point penalty. I picked this rule up back when I played with my college roommates. They were all white so I was surprised they knew the game at all, lol. Up until that point I'd only played with various groups of black friends and family.

Spades has really no defensive moves. It's all about getting books. You get a good hand, you set your opponent. Sandbags as a penalty made the games change. At a certain point you're actively trying to lose. You want the other team to win. They've got 9 bags and are about to win? Well they better hope their bidding was on point otherwise after we get our books we're giving them everything else and they are back 100.

Just food for thought. Next time at a family reunion or your friends place or whatever try to slide that rule in.

JC has a point. You just don't know when kids are going to have their first encounter with sex. Might as well equip them when you can with some basic knowledge and the understanding that they can come to you with questions. I feel like that OP screwed up as Roy pointed out because now his sister is going to be too scared to let them know what is going on, which is probably why she was secretive about it in the first place. When parents blow up on kids it rarely helps anything.

Just because you talk to them about it doesn't mean shit won't happen.

Spades can get real as fuck real quick
Lmao my dad used to be like "no talking across the board! You get shot for that you play against the wrong people." Never had it get that "real" or even close to it but it always made me wonder what Spades was like back in his day for him to so vehemently repeat this.

Just food for thought. Next time at a family reunion or your friends place or whatever try to slide that rule in.

That's the Yahoo Games rule. When me and my mom use to play Spades online. They had that rule in to make people bid better. It's a great rule to have.

Source: I hit rank above orange/intermediate on Yahoo Games caz I was that dude.

Also from the FSU/Oregon game last night

The problem wasn't being upset that an 11 year-old is being introduced to sex.

The problem wasn't even asking to look at her phone, although he could have done that in a less combative, threatening way. I fell like "do I go through my child's phone?" is going to be the new "do I go through my child's room?" debate...

The problem was that, when the brother/mother discovered that sex was something the girl was being exposed to, they chose to yell at and punish her, when really she hadn't done anything wrong. Horny boys are going to sext her. That's not going to stop.

They basically punished her because "The World."

That was definitely a moment where education would have been the fairer, more effective route to take.

I like my bags rules strict. You earn 3 more books than you bid in 5 hands, that's a 100 points out of your pocket.

I also keep my books in rather ornate designs, so if by some great blunder my team reneges, finding the offending book will be a charm.

5 years is a bit of hyperbole but when do you start talking to kids like that?

My mom talked to my sister about sex as soon as her first period. Hell, I might start younger than that.

Honestly, you have to call it right when you begin to see it. You'll know when it's time, though...

I like the cut of your jib. No one I've played with since those games has heard of or even seems open to bags as a penalty though.

My philosophy: keep them informed early within reasonable limits. If they don't get into* sex, sex is going to get into them.

You ever play with money on the line?

Of course no one wants to play with bags, because niggas don't want to lose money because they overbet.

No one I know likes bags. I find that to be an early indicator of ability. If you're used to bidding any ol kind of way, you won't really know how to count books.
