I opened the 2nd hotep video after spending 8 minutes on the 1st one. 45 minute video. What grown ass man spends 45 minutes talking into a camera to relay it to another grown ass man eyes and ears.

My family's pretty much the same. There are certain cultures a lot more adverse to mixing. On a personal level, I'm not. I told my mom a few weeks ago that I refuse to marry a Somali guy and she didn't clock me, so there's some progress with that years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In today's climate I'm more skeptical of Interracial Relationships (when I say interracial I mean white/__). its less about being stuck in an era and really just being concerned at if that person really cares about that person, race and all.

Interracial relationships are a beautiful thing as any relationship, but even speaking as the product of one, I'd be the first to tell you that it's not always for the right reasons that different peeps attract, and the anger around 'swirlin' stems from a lot of that. It's an ugly, nuanced, largely self-perpetuating circle with so many individual factors playing into it, I honestly don't see peace being made on it any time soon.

What's fucked up is the claim sometimes, is not for themselves. It's for a theoretical other person. Like a dream. They aren't trying to get with the person but they are thinking about some hypothetical dude who is alone and lonely. You ever talk to them? Rarely are they thinking they would have a chance with Serena. They think there is another black person they could get with her. Like, some cousin that has a bad dating life or someone at work.

I was at the bar with a pink toe and some 40 year old was gritting on us. Ain't no way he thought he was taking her home, big ass belly and all. Who did he believe i stole their birthright by smashing Suzy?

Another 60 year old fucker eyeing me up in my car with my baby sitter. Again, he had no chance but he was staring hard.

Black people that do this like to lay claim to those whom they didn't even show an interest to in the first place just to give off vibes as if they give a fuck when they truly don't. Or they'll automatically assume one person in the relationship has a fetish of some sort, and granted it does happen, or that they must hate themselves or aren't raised right. Gotta keep the bloodline black! Sounding no different than an Aryan.

They the same folk that go for that Colorism shit, like black folk that'll only date "redbone" cause they don't like dark skins. Had a black dude, Muslim, trying to talk to me about that ish the other day saying he was done dating black girls and only liked light skinned redbones with straight hair and I'm just looking at him like really man, your daughters are black though... 🤔

Not really, but you could do well to explain what you mean by oversimplifying. As opposed to my post simply being a summary. We could go in circles about it, it doesn't take one paragraph to explain it or two. Its a discussion that could literally go on for days and is going on still to this day.

Maybe, but that's a concern regardless of how you cut it/who you end up with, isn't it? Is that person with you 'cause they care about you, or because you check of some boxes for 'em? I guess I can see one thing with your argument, and that's that the likeliness of a falling out based on race is low - pending they don't hate themselves and the colour of their own skin like we've been seeing in the case where it's a POC/POC.

But since you're most skeptical of it being a white/__ pair, I'm not sure I get it entirely? In part because I don't know many white people, don't really see any, and don't really know anyone personally who's been in that combination of a relationship. Drop knowledge on me.

The rest day has me feeling a lot better. No soreness. I feel ready for a big workout tomorrow. I'm going to stretch and have a protein shake tonight. I'll be at the gym in the morning

This is also a perfect example of why the outrage is actually warranted sometimes, which is why it's such a hard topic--it's not gender specific.

If someone has blocked off a whole section of people from romantic consideration because of extraneous features like skin color and hair texture, that's rightful bullshit--white or black, light or dark, but it's because that happens (frequently and usually not in the beneficial way of darker men and woman) that we gots what we got in the black community.

In a perfect world you could marry who you'd want to marry without the baggage of beauty standards and associated privilege gained/lost

Basically the story of this year to me was that white people are even more willing to throw anybody under the bus even people they claim to care about. I saw too many instances of interracial couples being broken up because of the past election, seen race specific abuse, fetishization etc etc.

I always thought it was silly how people were so concerned about black men/women dating outside of the their race, more specifically white people but after this year, I can definitely see why. Understanding is already a major corner stone of relationships in the first place and adding the big ass subject of race in that just adds to the mountain of complications. I feel that white people will have a harder time in that aspect and can be borderline if not completely apathetic to most issues POC face. That's my personal concern and I can see why other black folks feel that way. They may be more ignorant about it, but there is something to idea that staying with your own or at least within the realm of POC. I mean not to say that they won't treat you wrong either. Its a nuanced subject foreal.

So someone tweeted a picture of an image search for "human Knuckles" and what's pissing me off more than anything else is 1) they all drew him as a white dude, and 2) with regular hair and not dreads. I distinctly remember the manual for Sonic 3 saying "dreadlocks."
