The Callisto Protocol just received a PS5 Pro Patch | 8K@30fps and 4k@60fps | Ray Tracing on Both

Here's all the available modes on the Pro

Edit: I've replaced the Discord links with Imgur links since the former will expire in 24 hours.

How does a dead studio put to shame someone like Remedy?
I'd like to be patriotic as a Finn, but Remedy has never been at the top when it comes to performance, even with their custom engine.

(Now Housemarque on the other hand, they are deities. Even with UE4/Returnal. The demoscene roots really show. And the particles, ohmigod.)

I'm really surprised at this patch I thought they would have moved on after the sales dissapointmet. There is a part of me that hopes they do a sequel with much better combat.

They are not dead. They just released [REDACTED] which is a small shooter game in the same universe.

That's good, thought they bombed out of existence

Seem like a talented studio that just needs a second chance

Shameful that they are able to create such a good patch and devs at Remedy and EA can't

Started my maximum security run which I've been saving. Looks very sharp in 4k60, RT is there and runs great from what I can tell at least in the first hour or so.

You mean ray traced shadows, right? Because the game definitely had shadows all over the place (and dark spaces) :messenger_grinning_sweat:
Yes. There were countless instances where the RT shadows from Fidelity had no rasterized substitute at all in Performance, meaning no shadows/occlusion of any kind translating in characters floating, or plenty of scenes where the harsh spotlights were producing wonderful dynamic shadows in Fidelity and absolutely nothing in Performance Mode.

hell, picked up the season pass that's on sale as a thanks to a dev that still gives a sh*t. I'll support this kind of support all day baby.

edit: im picking up Redacted as well :messenger_horns:

Good game that many people didn't know how to properly play.

They did reuse the two headed boss too many times though.

Is it really 6k upscaled? That's much higher then I'd thought. 8k (upscaled) is going to be somewhat common come the PS6. It'll be interesting to see do 8k TV sales come off life support going forward.

My guess is that PS6 Pro will be pitched as the console where 8K is standard

So…2032-2034

Why to what? that it's a much better game? Because ... it is. Both players and critics scores show.

Or why to them not being comparable? They're not similar kinds of games at all, Callisto is a very linear corridor based game, AW2 is a lot more open ended with multiple big zones and has a lot more to its gameplay.

I'm genuinely curious why this game was panned, it looks great

Ah, so you've never played it before. That makes sense.

It has good graphics but the game play is mediocre, give it a shot, you'll see yourself.

Trying to decide between a few other games to play next including AW2
I must say the game does have its issues, but many of them were blown out of proportion, especially complaints about combat. At a certain point in the game you will have melee, your grip glove thing, and then your guns. With all of these in hand you should RARELY be using melee and even then maybe a few enemies. Hence my comments on wtf people even doing in combat to be this bad.

I remember complaints about melee when dealing with 5 and up enemies in a room...Like no shit, you're supposed to be mixing up the tools available to you, not simply trying to melee everything.

- ending cliff hanger
- re-used boss (two-head)
- a bit too linear in areas
- too many "squeeze through here" traversal spots
- combat is basic

+ combat while basic, is impactful
+ looks amazing
+ world lore is neat
+ awesome aesthetic
+ weapon upgrades are significant
+ weapon upgrade visual is awesome
+ combat mix of melee, guns, and glove are awesome
+ great voice acting and cast
+ banger song made for the game
