The Car Thread

Looks like the Ferrari Testarossa is back! I like it a lot and I was a huge fan of the older model as well.

Yeah, I guess since all AE86 soared in prices after Initial D, I would personally go with MW2 AW11 and this engine if I could.

It's hard to believe it's only 1.6L.

I was just looking at prices for Corollas. Damn Initial D tax is crazy. My family and friends been ae86 guys since the 80s. Crazy to see those prices.

I went to a 86 drift meetup last month, lots of beams /3sgte swaps.

I stepped away from drifting back in 2006, had a small return stint in 2018. I rented a drift car last week I think i still got some skill.

Nice! Happy to hear you could enjoy a time like this plus you've nice got a nice skill.

Speaking of Initial D, there's a successor now MF Ghost and its promotion of GT86 is crazy lmao.

I will probably hunt for some AW11 or Civic IV. VTEC can sound amazing too.

Currently have:

- 2008 C6 Corvette (manual trans)
- 2018 Mustang GT (manual trans)
- 2012 Porsche Cayenne (manual trans)
- 2018 Ford Raptor (auto trans)

I'm too old to shift constantly so I'm debating replacing the Cayenne with an auto Panamera turbo

The vette is a truly amazing roadster with an amazing motor. Peak car driving fun really.

I miss a couple BMWs I've sold -- 330Ci was fantastic, but needed 100hp more. 325is e30... boy do I miss you..... perfect vehicle. 335is... also miss you ... close to perfect vehicle

The Raptor is close to peak motoring too, the only negatives are the "Ford" cheap plastics in a few areas.

I recommend this channel content. I like how they basically do a bro content about cars.

Makes a nice watch during morning coffee ☕️.

Thanks mate.

That is going to fuel my fantasies. Keyword: fantasy. 😥
Yeah, Ikr.

In my country the dude found an neglected Levin AE86 sitting in the parking lot on some random block in Warsaw. He didn't belive it at first was like "nah it can be". He then came to the conclusion "it really is".

He contacted the owner somehow and it was some grandpa which agreed to sell it for like $450, he then put in another $2770 to make it pristine.

To this day nobody knows how this car ended up in Poland, lmao. Can't find the photos now but he made it silver panda with all bells and whistles. I remember reading his restoration posts on some car related forum but it was eons ago so it may be lost in the depths of internets.

A buddy of mine who lived in the states had an AE86 Trueno. It was also a project car. But he lost his drivers license and the car itself is probably lives in another garage.

But screw all of that. My dad actually had this Mercedes and then he sold it. Keep telling him to this day that he's an absolute goober for doing that.

Dang, those Mercedes cars are indestructible - a true classic. Lot's of those here on roads.

Old Volkswagen cars are pretty cool too.

Everyone loves Golf MK1 and MK2, I personally really really like Jetta MK2.

German cars and parts were simply cheaper in Deutschland. Everything from groceries to firearms are cheaper across the border. That was the general consensus back then.

I was a devout Audi fan in the 90s. The four rings got to me.

First time smitten was in a dealership and I got to sit in an standard A4 station wagon. It was so spacious and bulbous. I wanted to get a sleeping bag and sleep in the back with my doggo.

Later we got the sedan model in silver.

The ultimate Audi for me is the purple grimace station wagon with the Porsche brake calipers. It was developed by Porsche but I only learned about that years later.

God dam that might b the best looking car I've ever seen.

This spec but with twin-charging (not to be confused with twin turbocharging) would be immense. I'm getting a boner just thinking about it.

I think Volvo is the only major manufacturer today that produces cars with twin-charging but don't quote me on that.

The gist is of twin-charging involves using a supercharger to make the turbocharger believe the engine has a larger displacement. All over my face, please.

What's JayEmm whinging about, that him and his mates aren't making money leasing out performance cars now?

Don't wanna give the fat cunt views
I watched maybe 30 seconds of that guy talking and yeah sounds like the kind of idiot that would spend tens of thousands of pounds on midlife crisis cars when he cant really afford them

'car guys' he says repeatedly. Weirdos

yes, but buying cars in excess of £100k in value is pretty retarded. Even more retarded if you aren't rich, which that guy is clearly not.

I live a few minutes away from place called Alderley edge, which is absolutely swarming with retards like him driving around in sporty cars worth more than my house. People that buy them are 99.5% assholes who buy them as status symbols, because they have more money than sense and wan to extend their penis size cause they think people that cant afford them give a shit about what someone else is driving - It's like the peak of materialistic cringe.

People like the guy in the youtube video above, Jeem or whatever his name is, buy the same cars using finance so people think they are rich when they are actually just up to their eyeballs in debt, which is infinitely more cringe than the rich twats who can actually afford to blow money on dumb status symbols.

The only thing I can think of that is maybe more cringe is rap music people that buy massive fucking diamond necklaces and watches to show off to everyone how much money they have. It's literally the same asinine behaviour and deserves to be mocked profusely :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I've been watching JayEmm on and off for years. Not his biggest fan but never got the sense that he was the type of person that you seem to think he is. He's mostly owned older cars and reviews cars that his viewers lend to him. He's just an enthusiast with a hobby that you evidently don't appreciate.

100 gbp is not that much money to be quite frank. That won't even get you a base 911 these days.

Anyways, here's the hip hop thread if you want to discuss your opinion on rap.

Dude.. cmon. no one buys a Porsche to be a wallflower. How do you know when someone owns a sports car? they tell you about it 🤣🤣

I'm not one to bash hobbies, each to their own. I'm sure many people here love to look at silly expensive gaming rigs just as much, 🤣

I don't know much about cars to comment but I do know that high end 'luxury' cars depreciate at a rapid pace because they are no better than my well used honda with 200k miles on it still going strong that costs me next to nothing to maintain. We have speed limits and cameras everywhere so not really sure I understand the 'but it goes fast' argument either, when I think of people that drive fast on public roads I think of people getting into accidents and boy racers with modified exhausts that scare dogs etc

it's just one of those hobbies that tends to attract absolute wankers, unfortunately.

I love the new 2026 Nissan Z Heritage Edition in midnight purple with the sweet throwback '90's twin turbo badging that we saw on Z, 3000 GT/Stealth and MR2 cars from back then.

I have entered the Android head unit market and will modernize an old Impala in the coming days. It's crazy how cheap you can turn an old POS into a new pos

The naming conventions are weird but an electric super charger with a "regular" turbo charger would be a less efficient system to having an electric turbocharger(Supercharger) that turns into a "regular" turbo charger when the engine passes the boost threshold.
The original TSI engines from like every VW Group car were twin charged........they abandoned that tech cuz turbos alone are more efficient and electrically supercharging/spooling furthers that.

Porsche uses the later system, and I think most manufacturers are developing their own similar electronically spooled turbo systems.
You can basically have any size turbo on you engine, and below engine rpm reaches boost threshold it behaves just like a supercharger, once it hits let it fly.
Changing gears you can alter its speed with the e-motor, you basically have a near perfect engine with near no if not absolutely no widow maker tendancies.

Actual twin-charging as in belt driven SuperCharger and Exhaust powered Turbo Charger would be incredibly inefficient.

So basically no more Porsche 930.(The original 911 Turbo) I wonder if what I heard about it was true, 0-60 in about 5 seconds but that's 0-30 in 4 seconds and 30-60 in 1 second. (Supposedly modern tires make it a lot more manageable.)

Pretty much any older rear wheel drive car with a big turbo especially older style turbos will try to kill you atleast once a week.

I had a frikken S13 Hatchback, probably making 350HP on its best day, but it had a big turbo......totally manageable 90% of the time, cuz it was a roll racer.
Once a week Ill be minding my business and boost will just skyrocket from a simple and i mean minute throttle blips shift.

I havent experienced these new electric spool turbos from what ive understood basically they can manage their speed even based on throttle position, so you can shift keep the turbo spinning at the right speed for the throttle position so you can effectively control turbo RPM and engine RPM using the throttle so the car always behaves in a predictable way

Instead of if you shifted at high turbo RPM have a blowoff the when you reengage the turbo is already angry at you so even if you arent fully depressing the throttle it sends you for a ride.

Of course made worse in the 930 with a short wheel base and engine in the rear. (Meaning it has lift off over steer, IE it can spin if you take your foot off the gas.)

Mercedes G-Wagen EV

I want one but they're the price of a house. I assume being an EV it will depreciate like crazy but I guess we'll see.
