I'm hoping for a Sergio win, although Peter is very tough and will be hard to beat. Either way should be an awesome fight.

Oh crap! @_@

I was just checking to see what the Vegas oddsmakers were saying about tonight's matchup, and OMG - it turns out there was a full undercard of fights scheduled for today too! Three "fan favorite" matches made available exclusively online through Yahoo, leading up to tonight's main event. They're all over with now, though... sorry.

http://contender.tv.yahoo.com/01/fanfavorites.html

(Winners in bold)

Match #1: Jimmy Lange vs Tarick Salmaci
Match #2: Anthony Bonsante vs Ishe Smith
Match #3: Brent Cooper vs Jeff Fraza

I also read something about another undercard fight tonight - Jesse Brinkley versus Alfonso Gomez. Can anyone confirm?

Damn it, where's Joey!? He should have definitely been on the undercard. How do they call that a fan favorite undercard without Joey? Anyway, I got Manfredo. He's just explosive. Sergio's simply quick and sneaky. He'll get caught eventually. His knockout ratio is horrible too :-/ He's cool too though. Whoever wins I'm fine with.

When was the last taping of The Contender? It couldn't be that cut.. right? Anyway, should be a good show. Lots of celebrities in the crowd tonight. Sergio looks ready. It's such a toss up on this.

this is probably the worst officiated fight i've ever seen. i've seen enough behind the head shots, grabs, and pins already. makes the fight look exciting, but anything but fair.

Sergio could have knocked him out, but was to busy talking trash

Peter has enough power that going for the kill is a risk... one not worth $1 million. What Sergio did was smarter... showmanship will get people to buy tickets as much as knockouts, and it's safer towards getting a win.

Anyone find it funny how much Sly keeps plugging a rematch?

That fight pretty much went how I thought it would, though I certainly didn't like seeing so many clinches. Peter's a great fighter and my heart was always with him (the ultimate comeback story), but Sergio has just been so dominant in all of his fights that it's hard, almost foolish to bet against him. He's got fast hands with great combos, he's incredibly smart in the ring, he's proven he can take the hard shots, and - as underhanded as it seems - he's extremely adept at stealing rounds from his opponents.

Plus, Peter just seemed dead on his feet by the 5th round, he was so sluggish.

Hey guys, anyone know if we can vote for a rematch? :lol

*bell rings*

"I could see a rematch anyday!"

REMATCH

Anyway, it was an alright fight. Way too much clutching. Peter was just leaning against Sergio for most of the fight. I enjoyed Alfonso's fight more, and I'm glad Sergio won.

God damn was Sly pimping that rematch even though the fight was no were near as close as he kept seeing. Alright fight with way too much holding and low blows.

Geez, Sly drove me crazy with all that rematch talk. He was talking about a rematch after only the first round. Also, he kept giving Peter way too much credit. Sergio clearly had the fight in control and Sly I was trying to convince us that the fight was a toss up going into the final round.

Thankfully the judges weren't bought out by Mark Burnette and Co. and scored the match correctly for the most part. The fight was way too lopsided for there to be a rematch.

For the next contender they need to get new announcers. Tonight was like listening to Don King commentating his own fights.

That rematch stuff was such bullshit. Shut up already Sly.

I also found it funny as hell that while Sergio was basking in the glory of winning The Contender, winning a million dollars, reaching his dreams, when Sly wanders over to dramatically announce that he had just won... a truck. AND... he's on the cover of a magazine. Screw the million! You're sharing the cover of Ring with Sly and Sugar Ray!
