You will have to have a shortended/simplified version of the arc. Cut Azreal out completely since it was never introduced.

Batman crippled in an early fight with Bane because he refuses Catwomans help and/or tries to take her down as well -> city is rampaged -> Bats learns sometimes he needs help and can't do it alone and realizes the world isn't just black and white -> Bats comes back with Catwomans help to save the city from Bane.

Throw in much better writers than me and you have something.

That sounds a lot like the ending of Spider-Man 3. :lol

Yeah, this strikes me as the reverse TDK at this stage of the game - TDK's character choices were spot on but the casting seemed strange (of course Ledger ended up being the best part of TDK), and now I think TDKR's casting is great, but I'm not really pumped for either character.

Heath Ledger will never be able to make a memorable Joker character.

Yeah this comment no longer works with 90 percent of the rumors in the Batman threads because Heath Ledger was actually brilliant prior to TDK. Anne Hathaway is...eh. She's hot and all. I'm just glad Portman didn't get it.

This is nonsense.

Portman was brilliant in The Black Swan. Anne Hathaway was fantastic in Rachel Getting Married, as well, even though I didn't like that film at all.

Time to get back on the cycle, Tom

Is that Hardy? What movie was this?

I don't think I'll question Nolan until he actually makes a bad movie and casting call.. Really happy about Hardy, unsure about Hathaway as Catwoman but like I said.. I trust Nolan at this point.

Ugh, hate multiple threads.

Rather than this "new threads for news" trend we have going that results in 5-10 topics going on at the same time, why can't we just update thread titles with news?
That would work if it was easier to adjust thread titles but until then, it has to be done this way. As is, mega threads SUCK and no one but super dedicated fanboys ever check them. It only works for things like sports, etc. when people know there are actually new things happening every day.

Oh God, fantastic news! I've been hoping for Bane and I feel Nolan can actually do him justice.

Also Anne Hathaway as Catwomen? This movie is full of win already.

Anne Hathaway shits all over both of them in her sleep. She can play a very disturbed woman, and be sexy as hell at the same time. I am fully behind her.

You wish you were fully behind her.

Tom Hardy is a very good actor and should do well. Anne Hathaway is a very good actress and should do well.

Christopher Nolan is a very mediocre writer when left to his own devices, so I hope that the script goes through multiple checks before anything is filmed.

Also, regarding the multiple threads thing - it's partly the bandwidth thing and partly the fact that GAF has waaaaay more lurkers and casual viewers than it does members; the new news = new thread thing is an extension of that, and even if it's more inconvenient for us posters, it's the only thing that really "works."

Edit: So much for "villains that haven't been in movies before" though.

Neither are as good as Naomi Watts...:(

Health Ledger as the Joker was ok but not memorable. If he were alive today, no one would care strongly about his performance and he would not have won any awards for it.

My ability to like Ledger as the Joker was in no way shape or form decided by the fact that he died. As sad as it might have been to lose a talented actor.

Knightfall is a difficult story to tell in a single movie, but not entirely impossible.

The only major challenge would be pacing. I'd be fine with a movie length similar to TDK, especially since Knightfall is one hell of a story, and I'm genuinely interested in how Nolan handles the build-up, the back-break, the recovery, and Azrael.

I'm still tickled pink that my instincts were right, even immediately after watching TDK the first time. Knightfall (in name or concept) and Bane were always very suitable thematic destinations for a story post-TDK.

I'm not saying Anne Hathaway can't act (yes, I've seen Rachel Getting Married), but nothing she's done makes me convinced she can do a femme-fatale sort of role convincingly. But I'm giving Nolan the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, Following, Memento and Inception were quite mediocre.

Pretty much. I was sold the very first moment I heard his cackle. After that I knew that what we will have will be something incredibly special.

Right there with ya on that one.

Have you seen Get Smart?

Not as big a fan of Nolan Batman as most of Gaf, and Hathaway doesn't really excite me.

That said, I trust Nolan to make solid hero movie that holds up very well over time.

Catwoman and Bane? meh

I won't doubt Nolan but these are some rather boring villains.

Well when you follow-up the Joker it's only downhill from there I'd imagine? I'm definitely going against popular opinion here but I hope Tom Hardy doesn't roid up too much. I'd be fine with him just being a little more physically threatening than Bale in Begins.

These dumbshits putting Anne Hathaway on the same level as Katie Holmes and Maggie Gyllenhaal must be on drugs.
She is some how still one of the classiest women in acting right now, and not afraid of showing her tits or going for broke in awesome roles (that wedding movie, dont feel like looking it up).

Yes, i would love to be "behind" her.

Not sure if serious, but Memento has a terrific screenplay and is probably the only indisputably great Nolan film. I've not seen Following, but Inception DOES have a thoroughly mediocre screenplay.

Edit: Eckhart and Oldman in The Dark Knight > Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight.

Before hating on Bane, do any of you people know his comic backstory?

It doesn't really matter. The idea that they would be boring characters in a Nolan movie even if they were boring in the comics is kind of dumb.

Wait nothing about the story line has been confirmed. Just know Bane is in it, not that he will break Bat's back, and we will see Azrael.

This movie is supposed to be the finale of sorts for Nolan's Batman. I am hoping this movie is less about Catwom and Bane and more about Bruce.

Bane is probably one of the most interesting Batman villain out there.

THANK YOU.

Katie is nice to look at I guess but can't act for shit, Maggie can act but is pretty fucking ugly IMO, and then there's Anne who is hot as hell and is a great actress.
