he was excellent, but let's be real: the academy rarely if ever gives awards to people playing superhero/villan roles. it just doesn't happen.
Yeah, I think he would've gotten nominated regardless, but I don't think he'd have won. That's not to say he didn't deserve it.

oh my god...typical GAF, Shredding to pieces great movies one at a time.

I agree though, maggie is just not hot. I thought I heard she was either pregnant during shooting or just had a baby, but still...not hot.

The problem wasn't that she is not attractive (which she isn't next to Holmes) it was just that she seems so different than the Rachel we meet in the first one. Rachel was in love with Bruce and in the end of the first she is still in love but waiting. The Rachel in TDK almost seems annoyed, unappreciative, and bitchy to Bruce the whole time. No one seems to care all to much about her because of how she is portrayed.

they also didn't give a women the best director award until last year

that said, I don't know why we're pretending that the Academy Awards has standards. Diablo Cody won an a ward for Juno. That's neither here nor there.

My ability to like Ledger as the Joker was in no way shape or form decided by the fact that he died. As sad as it might have been to lose a talented actor.

I loved his performance, but I really think the overall reaction to it and the oscar was sorta heightened because of his death unfortunately. I don't think he would have got an oscar for it had the tragedy not happened.

Can we not turn this thread into that. I'm so tired of this debate. We won't ever know, get the hell over it.

Maggie is so hot she could be made of fire, but she's not "hot" in any traditional sense, I guess. I love her to bits. Just didn't think there was much to love about her and the Batman.

I wish there was a 4th movie just because I think that a Batman movie ending with Bane breaking Batman's back would be amazing.

Like I said earlier

But you see, Ledger's Joker works more in the sphere of psychopath character rather than "supervillan".

The academy loves these kind of characters - Travis Bickle, Anton chigurh, Hannibal Lecter e.t.c.

Granted, he might've only been nominated and not won, but I think his work was comparable to Bardem's stint as Anton Chigurh an year earlier which did win an oscar. So it is not so hard to believe he could've won regardless of his death.

So reading this thread, Anne Hathaway is Cat woman? Dear god, I hope not. I hope she's just some woman character. Catwoman would be lame as hell.

I'm seriously curious what sort of spin Nolan's going to take with Selina / Catwoman.

IMHO Nolan's Batman is very different from the usual take because it's clear that he's Bruce Wayne and Batman is merely a theatrical persona with no real depth to it - this isn't bad, it's just different.

This lets BatNolan stay grounded, relatable as a real person. It also stretches a justification for a real guy jumping around and acting like a costumed adventurer in real life... Bruce is still sane, still considerate of some realistic complications, and still faces up to the consequences of his actions as a "super hero".

So. Is Catwoman going to be a loony girl who has some screws loose, and begins crawling around rooftops in PVC going "meow"? Is she going to be a woman on a mission who is appropriating some of Batman's theatrical gimmickry? Is CatNolan going to be more Selina, a regular person, or more Catwoman, the artistic persona?

that's what I'm thinking how they going to pull this off is a mystery. Nolan, come on baby

I don't think she'll be like the Catwoman from Batman Returns. I think since Nolan's universe is more grounded in reality, she's going to be a jewel thief with some twist to her background or character.

Edit: Also my bad for not mentioning Ian Mckellan as Magneto. He is up there too.
Heath Ledger was great in the Dark Knight, but I don't find him to be the definitive Joker. He was too "dirty" and unkept. It's a nitpick, and I still enjoy his scenes, but I think Jack Nicholson's Joker was much better. With that said, I'm glad Heath did his own thing, and pulled it off very well. Regardless, Mark Hammil is the Joker as far as I'm concerned.

My real issue with The Dark Knight was Batman. In Begins, Batman had a very strong presence. In the Dark Knight, he almost felt like an afterthought. Well, "afterthought" is the wrong word to use, but he didn't have a strong presence in that movie.

I also felt like Harvey Dent could have been portrayed better. He was fine in the beginning of the film, but I didn't think his complete transformation into Two-Face was convincing enough. I felt like something was missing. It may just be a nitpick, but it does bother me every time I watch the film.

Overall, The Dark Knight is a great movie, but I really don't think it's the best Batman film, especially after seeing what can be done in Batman: Under the Red Hood and Mask of the Phantasm. Granted, they're animated films and not live-action, but I would like the live-action movies to strive to be more like them. Especially since I find Mask of the Phantasm to be far more entertaining than Batman Begins as an origin story.

My only issue with Hathaway is that she looks too young for the part. Catwoman has always been something of a cougar in my eyes.(I hate puns, there just wasn't a better word to describe her.)

She can act but she aint that hot. Her eyes be too big and droopy. Not even sexy eyes really...reminds me of Heidi the opossum.

you know what i'll put acting before sexiness. Remember cat women with Halle Berry

It's been a loong time since I read the Knightfall arc, but I remember in TAS Bane had some kind of Latin accent. Is that canon? I have no idea. And is Bane still around in current DC continuity?

I guess this is why Nolan told Bale to bulk up considerably for this movie. Wasn't there a report a few weeks ago about Bale trying to get in the best shape of his life for this one?

Best shape of his life = Jesus beard and a quart of rum each day?

I bet that's because hot voiced Adrienne Barbeau was her VA on the Animated Series. mmmm Barbeau

I was just having a conversation via a text with a friend and I believe I have come up with a decent enough plot for TDKR.

At the end of TDK we are left with Batman vilified. He is to be hunted by Gotham City's best and finest. So Batman goes into hiding. In the wake he left crime creeps back up in the city and other vigilantes have to pick up where he left off. The disappearance of Batman didn't make things better, it just plateaued. One of the most notable vigilantes is Catwoman who holds a grudge against Batman for leaving the scene.

Anyway escalation occurs once again and we see that through the villain Bane, who terrorizes the city or something. Eventually Bruce has to step in to correct the situation.

That's only an over arching plot.

Totally. All of the animated series characters are the definitive iterations for me just because I grew up watching that show. Her voice was fucking sexy.

There's a goddamn link to Deadline Hollywood in the OP.

Just because something is posted on the internet doesn't mean it's real.

I guess I'm in shock...I wasn't really expecting two villains like this.

Agreed. But the whole time I will be looking at her EYES! Especially since thats probably all we're gonna see with her face mask and all.

But more importantly...Is Nolan going to go in the Adam Hughes/Audrey Hepburn costume/attitude direction

I don't think Batman will go into hiding like OK GUYS SEE YA but more like he won't be working with the cops and will be hunted by villains and cops alike. Bane could be simply someone who works with the cops to find Batman and Selina could be a love interest. Who knows but I doubt Batman hides away.

Any chance we get a teaser like we did back in summer 07 with just audio and the logo?

I remember going to see the Simpsons movie not expecting it at all and not knowing what it was and then jizzing in my pants

Her eyes being sorta "droopy" is a point. Carrying that so far as to say "she ain't that hot" is ridiculous. Even with the slant her eyes have, they are still big sexy eyes. Not to mention the other 99% of her is hot.

I really wish Mark Hamill could have been the joker in something live action. I get that he's older now, but with all the make-up and special effects who cares? His voice is still so perfect for it.

Yeah maybe Batman wouldn't hide, but maybe he would be more low key in what he does around Gotham?

I also think we'll get some kind of Teaser a month or so after principal photography.
