The Dark Knight Rises Unsafe (?) Hype Thread |5 Spoiled, 2 Of Them Mods!|

A moderator at SHH who's been there for like 10 years said his friend saw a cut of the movie and thinks it easily tops TDK (I know this means nothing to you Solo!) and that grown men cried during the ending. Not hyperbolic at all!

I'm not ready for this!

Thanks for the heads up I'll be sure to some tissues to wipe away the tears so nobody sees me weep.

Lets be real, only a fanboy would have that reaction.

Oh, well if the moderator's friend saw it!

Because the WB top brass can't help but invite their favourite internet fanboys to studio-exclusive screenings.

I just find it funny that the talk went from "TDKR can't beat TDK's opening weekend, Ledger's death, Joker, etc" to "Oh man, TDKR can't do $200M. Less appeal to kids, 3D tax, etc"

It's going to be REALLY successful, but if it makes $185M or something I'm sure people will yell bomba on GAF.

It wont be a bomb financially so long as it recoups its costs. That is almost a certainty. Its going to do great #s. And to me it won't be a bomb so long as its as good if not better than the first two movies.

That said 200M is unlikely and it has nothing to do with how good it will be. I think Avengers just markets itself better to all people. Batman might be the most popular comic book character but in terms of action, like the type we see in Avengers, its not there. I am assuming Avengers as a pure action film attracts more overseas markets and the younger crowd.

I guess I wouldn't be shocked if it does 200M, but I never expected that before for any of the releases so its hard to imagine it will reach that.

What's the chances of us getting the prologue online at one point?
I remember the TDK prologue hit the net some time before the release of the film (not quite sure though).

Frankly I'm kind of shocked that WB had the restraint to not re-release TDK on home video with the prologue included for further milking, like they did with BB a month before TDK hit.

Wasn't he blurry a subpar video quality. Trilogy rerelease for sure

He's always dressed to the 9s

I couldn't tell exactly tell what they were wearing as such, but Nolan looked dapper as usual lol.

If I ever have my phone on my when I'm out at work, and I cross Cillians path, I'll get a pic. Usually famous actors end up in the bar or the lunch area at work.

Was BB re-released on blu-ray?

I bought the first release and it had the prologue. Remember that Batman Begins was an HD-DVD exclusive until Blu-ray finally won that stupid format war.

TDK's transfer was all over the place. The IMAX stuff was pristine as one would expect, but the non-IMAX stuff was plagued with some really bad edge enhancement and other issues it really shouldn't be. Hopefully it gets remastered for the inevitable trilogy re-release.

I remember that they were bundling that bluray with everthing that Xmas. Maybe it was a quickie job.

So was the best quality Prologue bootleg better than the original that cut off like half of the screen and looked just awful? Anyone have a link if there's a better version out there?

I never said his friend was an internet fanboy, from what I remember it was either he worked for WB or a company that works for WB sometimes. He hasn't lied before, so I'll take his word for it.

Of course quality is still in the eye of the beholder, so I'm not expecting everyone who sees it to actually cry during the ending or something.

Solo will probably cry when all of Nolan's cop extras come together to save Batman from Bane during the 3rd act.

So long as Nolan doesn't go for the cheap tears by killing Alfred and having him give off some teary-eyed final words.

The man who doesn't cry at and old man crying is already dead inside.

"You mess with Bats, you mess with Gotham!"
"You mess with one of us, you mess with all of us!"

"I got somethin' for your ass."

I don't really care about Alfred, he's too snappy and jokey.

On the other hand if coat guy died, I'd be angry. But I don t think I'd cry for either.

Speaking of death Nolan loves it but he never repeats the method in his films (?)

Memento: serial murder, medication error
Prestige: hanging suicide, hanging execution, revenge murder, magic trick murder, failed magic trick murder
Inception: double suicide, natural death, dream death, shootout death
Insomnia: crime of passion, corrupt cop murder
Bb: ninja house mass murder, "don't have to save you", lookyloo murder, robbery murder, double homicide, mob hit
Tdk: chaos murders, terror murders, pencil murder, gas murder, greed murder, gang intimation murders, gasoline murder, phone murder, burn murder

Tdkr: earthquake bomb murder, ?????

dunno what kinds of ways are left to kill people

In Insomnia, I don't think it was a "corrupt cop murder" Pacino couldn't see him in the fog. However, to the characters that knew that Pacino's partner would indict him, it looked like "corrupt cop murder"

Does it matter in any way, shape, or form if TDKR outdoes The Avengers, or even TDK?

Box office numbers speak nothing of the quality of the movie. Nothing to the degree of which fans enjoy it. Hell, since it isn't in 3D it doesn't even offer a true reflection of how it stacks up financially against The Avengers! I don't understand why it's a debated or discussed topic, it's so laughably irrelevant

1.1b is my prediction for TDKR. I put Avengers at 900m but I think I've been blown out of the water on that haha

My friend and her boss said they saw a movie that is coming out this summer and it was amazing. Couldn't tell me what though. I'm thinking either TDKR or Spiderman. Her boss has done work with WB in the past so I am leaning more towards Bats.

It was Men in Black 3.

Back in Time!

If anything like this happens I will rage worse than I ever have for any film. I will never forgive Nolan for it and will always hate on TDKR at any chance.

They will all gather on Gotham bridge, throw things at Bane and declare that you don't mess with Gothamites

Because people like talking about box office.

Just like people like talking about films themselves.
I guess. Box office discussion just seems very superflous, whereas the film itself is of course the meat of what will be talked about for years and years to come. Don't get me wrong, I don't care that people enjoy talking about box office numbers, but it just seems like people equate it with quality or critical reception more than they should.

I'm sure I'll get caught up in box office talk closer to the time though. I want my most hyped movie of the year to do well

Half of Avatar's WTFery is from the fact it made more money than most countries have in reserve haha. It's obviously not an indication of quality but TDK making so much was testament to its quality.

Yah, the Super Hero Hype mod is legit. He's a global moderator, and a trusted figure over there. The entire management team, including a couple of the top mods, regularly attend press screenings and publicity events. They're not just a bunch of basement dwellers as far as 'connections' are concerned, and even then..it could still just be a personal friend (pretty sure he's from L.A). I used to post there a lot, and I'm familiar with the guy in question. He's pretty dead serious about his integrity, which is kinda lulsy for a forum moderator, but whatever.

If he says he knows someone at WB who's seen the movie, then he most likely does.

What did he say

What did he say

Oh sorry, I was referring to what DM reported.

Here's the post:

Starts here at post 894, and continues through the next few pages.

He basically just reports what his friend said, which is that it's a better, more emotional film than The Dark Knight. Standing ovation, grown men crying..that sort of stuff.

I believe this is possible.
Rachel's death on TDK was weightless because, sincerely, no one cared for her. And Two-Face demise was so accidental and we hardly had time with him, that it ended up being weightless too.
Nolan is going for Prestige death tone this time.

why hasn't there been leaked cinemacon footage! Dammit!
Everyday the footage hasn't been released, people will die! Starting tonight!
