I really don't like that poster.

For a few reasons!

But in this topic, I will criticize the lack of GARY OLDMAN in that trio. Give Gary Oldman his props!

Why is "personally" in quotes?
 
The biggest complaint I can see about this film in comparison to the earlier ones is the focus is much less on Batman and more on those around him. But I think that's part of what made this a great movie.

My complaints were...

1. The fight with the multiple Batmans at the start is a bit rough in the editing, could have used some smoothing up. The one at the very end is a bit shoddy as well... there's so much scattershot editing between like three or four groups of characters that its a bit hard to follow. Needed cleaning up.
2. Christian Bale who underplayed Bruce Wayne and overplayed Batman. Bat McGrowlerson's voice is fine when he's barking at villains to give up some detail, but it's really awful when he's discussing the philosophical nature of evil or some shit.
3. BAT SONAR science lol - Here's where I had to strain a bit from the hard crime thriller tone the movie had set, and a bit of a deus ex machina. I mean I still can't figure out WHY precisely it was so difficult for Batman to find Joker without this elaborate YOU'RE LISTENING TO 30,000 PEOPLE bullshit or whatever-the-fuck. Yes, I understand they buried the seeds for this plot contrivance early in the film but it was still silly. It was totally within the realm of my suspension of disbelief to think they could map out rooms using some baseline sonar technology, but it just shit on my face when they came up with that.

Overall, though, these are pretty minor complaints compared to the scope, complexity and quality of the film.

Six?

Things that were even better with foresight:
- Dent's scenes with the coin
- "I make my own luck" versus "Pure, unbiased chance"
- The tension between Dent and Gordon in general
- Alfred: "Not yet."
- All the lingering shots of Detective Ramirez
- "He said he'd fill me up with light... like Christmas!"
- Joker's psychological tactics in the interrogation room
- Oh hey there's a shard of glass in frame when Joker talks to the guard
- Joker walking down the hospital hallway with explosions trailing
- Oh hey Maroney has a cane
- Two Face putting on his seatbelt

The fake Batman hitting the window got me again. Dammit!

The real purpose of course being to show that Zeus, still in prison 20 years after killing a wrester in an illegal cage match, has finally found peace, despite never having a chance to avenge his loss to Hulk Hogan. Was possibly the most profound scene of the movie.

I agree with all of this and these are pretty much my exact complaints.

The sonar, especially. That was definitely a sort of deus ex machina. The reason the sonar rubbed so many people the wrong way is because it didn't really gel with the movie's internal logic.

Yeah, Bruce Wayne has a lot of high-tech cool shit we've never seen, but that's easily explained by the fact that he's one of the wealthiest people on the planet. But the sonar is just too much, and too over-the-top. It didn't really fit at all.
 
The sonar effect made me think that Batman invented the Matrix. ;o

I wonder if we'll see much more of it in BB3. Lucius only hated that it was on Wayne Enterprises property. :P

Yeah, definitely didn't put the whole cane thing together with Maroni's prior "accident."

And I was expecting the fake Batman; while I didn't totally freak like the first time, I still jumped a little. Then again, it's still nowhere near as frightening as the video scene.

"Hey, look at me.

LOOK AT ME."
 
The movie was great. There were things I didn't like, but they are pretty minor when taking into account the scope of the film and all it accomplishes. Ledger's performance deserves every bit of the praise it has received so far, he carries the film. His Joker is the best movie villain in recent memory. I'd see it again just to see more Joker.
 
I must be the only one who laughed at Alfred's "I don't think you made it loud enough, sir" crack during the ballistics test.

Goes well with his "I can see things perfectly fine from down here, thank you very much" from Begins.

Alfred cracks me up for some reason.

Ugh. Problem with these impressions is that they just try to duplicate the voice and the dialogue. They're just parroting. To do a proper impression you gotta believe what you're saying. You've got to get down into the character's mind. You have to become the character.

Otherwise it's no better than just reading the script word-for-word.

i agree with #1. i really didnt catch what happened the first time around in that opening batman scene.

#2. never bothered me. if anything the new mask made his face weird. i didnt think the new suit was bad but the mask in the first was better. it fitted his head better or something.

#3. this i also did not have a problem with. neither did any of my friends.

my only big complaint was the quick transition of bruce from grief over rachel to back into batman mode.
 
I loved Bat Sonar. It engrossed me so well, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. If it was used just to find the Joker, then I could see the complaitns. But it was SO EPIC how he had to save the hostages, stop the swat and capture the goons. so complicated, so awesome. I couldn't believe it was in a Nolan film, considering his aversion to cgi. unexpected and excellent

I l liked the little touch of having spare tires in the background of Batman's lair. it's like he had built the batpod in his spare time

Fuck you. I hope he rebuilds the tumbler and makes it even bigger and tankier. It should be the sproose goose of batmobiles.
 
The Batmobile in other films and the comics is simply built to look aesthetically pleasing and cool, which is sort of stupid. Nolan wanted that shit to be more realistic, so he made it a big, ugly, and highly effective and powerful tank-like vehicle. Makes so much more sense.

it was good BUT he shoulda turned that shit off once he was face to face with the joker, it didnt make sense for his to still have it on :lol

Visually, the sonar part was amazing (especially white-eyed Batman, an awesome touch), but it didn't really make a lot of sense and wasn't that feasible relative to everything else.

I found the bat sonar far more acceptable in this than the giant microwave was in Begins as a sci-fi element, does Nolan feel that there has to be one of those in every film? At least in TDK, it is possible to ignore it somewhat.

My biggest complaints would still be Rachel and Harvey. If only they could remake Begins again and we see his rise to being the DA... I'm not sure why Harvey is the 'best' out of the triumvirate.

Yeah, the overall action set piece of the scene and purpose doing so many things at once was badass.

Regarding CGI usage, I think it's because it's more rudimentary CGI used for practicality of an on screen device than pure effect in the film, as in it's nothing advanced looking as mimicking real life itself, that it doesn't really count as the CGI Nolan would be adamant against, that's like complaining a person is adamant against CGI images appearing on a computer screen, which basically his eye gears were doing were doing with the sonar.

The thing glitched on. He did just get tackled or pummeled or soem shit. I can't remember, but it definitely glitched on when he didn't want it to.

Can't use Joker because Heath passed away

I think they actually wanted to use the Joker since they didn't kill him in the movie, but they'll have to go a different route now.

They killed 2 Face....or did they? Sure made it seem like it, but it was never certain, they can always bring him back.

Robin? Maybe that dude that was gonna reveal his identity can be Robin? (I hope they don't go this route)

Riddler - Best route to go, get someone like Johnny Depp to play the Ridler, secondary enemies could be Penguin, Catwoman and 2 Face (if they decide to tell us that Harvey didn't really die) or Mr. Freeze

Lucius Fox: Should work against cats!
CONFIRMED: Catwoman

Joker: Introduce a little anarchy.
CONFIRMED: Anarky (since it's his name and kids are short)

Mr. Reese -> Mysteries
CONFIRMED: The Riddler since his name is Mysteries.
