The Dark Knight SPOILER THREAD

Speaking of the final scene (well, there was much discussion about it on the last page)...

Was there an explanation of why Dent's order of life/death was Batman, Dent, then Gordon? What would've happened if Dent was supposed to kill himself? He would've never gotten a chance at Gordon.

He wasn't going to punish himself then - he was going to punish Gordon. He was flipping to see if he was going to kill Gordon's boy when Batman stopped him.

No, he flipped for himself first before flipping for Gordon's kid. One of the few WTF moments of the movie. "IM GONNA GIT MA REVENGE ON YOU! UNLESS I HAVE TO KILL MYSELF FIRST, LOLZ"

This is probably a dumb question, but as someone who has a blu-ray player (PS3) and but no HDTV, would the Blu-ray version look distorted at all on my SD set? Or should I just stick with the regular DVD?

Buy both versions.

I am.

And no, it won't be distorted at all.

He was also willing to kill himself in that car wreck in order to kill Maroni, and that was long before he tried to get revenge on Gordon.

Dent is so unhinged at this point that doesn't care about anything anymore.

True. Dent's revenge plot was all over the place, in retrospect. His pre-Two Face stuff was much more engaging for me.

The Blu-Ray version is getting a Joker cover too.

I'm glad blu-ray is also getting the ridiculous sets. Don't know which one to get.

Does the batpod one have any extra video content or just the badpod model? I don't like that it doesn't come with a traditional case.

I was hoping for some new art for the covers (Preferably the shot featured on the back cover - It's so perfectly epitomizes the two) but oh well, I'll get it anyways.

For some reason I never noticed that the Joker's makeup was supposed to make him look like a dead dude until just now. I mean, it's like that in the comics too, but I never noticed.

The more I think about it, the less the Batman on Batpod Riding Down the Side of a Building makes sense. Like, he didn't do anything remotely like it in the movie, plus the batpod can't exactly rip a part the side of a building as it's riding down. It's still bad ass...but fucking weird, too. Like, "was this really their first idea?"

Holy shit, I just found out that my town just opened an IMAX theater!! I can finally see this movie in imax when it comes back in January!

:D :D :D

IMAX is best for sound more than anything else. When I went to see it at the London IMAX, everything had such a punch to it, it was genuinely exhilarating. When I next saw it in a regular cinema, the reduced picture quality didn't bother me - was the sounds that felt underwhelming.

Exactly the same here.

Batman 3 starting pre-production in 2009?!

6:00 AM TEXAS TIME: The “Prepping for BATMAN 3“ scuttlebutt continues.

I was told by someone who is, well, “in the know” that there just might be something to all these rumors. According to him, there’s been mention of something going down around February of 2009 in Chicago. He chalks it up as rumor, but noted that the similarity to yesterday’s report on BOF was interesting. And just like that previous report, this buzz is coming from various folks who had worked on BATMAN BEGINS, THE DARK KNIGHT, or both.

Something that made me raise an eyebrow was that one of the sources who contributed to yesterday’s news told BOF, “[What I’m hearing from crew members out of Chicago] is that ‘BATMAN 3’ goes into pre-production in February to shoot next summer.” I didn’t include the February 2009 bit previously, but with two totally unrelated and trustworthy individuals making specific mention of that date, I thought it was worth passing it on to you all.

Now, I do not think that a third BATMAN will actually begin filming next February, but I do think that if all this is indeed true (and I have no reason not to believe it based on whom it is coming from), pre-production in some capacity just might be commencing early next year.

Oh yeah, it surely doesn’t hurt that the state of Illinois is hoping to make it financially easier for Hollywood to film in Chicago.

Until they actually have a script, i won't believe a word about sequel talk.

WHERE IS CHRISTOPHER NOLAN, I NEED SOMEONE TO MAKE SENSE OF ALL THIS.

Yeah that's complete bull. If it were starting that early, an official announcement would have been made by now. Nolan's taking his time. I doubt they'll start even pre-production until the end of 09 at the earliest.

Isn't a Blu-ray over 20 times bigger than DVD, HD content is 4 time more space intensive.
Why cant they put all the content on one Blu-ray or is there more content.

a double-layer blu-ray is only about 5 times larger than a double-layer DVD.

Didn't they complete The Dark Knight in two years?

I mean Nolan was doing Prestige in 2006 no?

yeah. i believe pre production on the dark knight began around fall 06 after the Prestige was released.

this news would depend on Nolan coming back, having a script, and Nolan not wanting to take a break and make something else.

i just dont see it. i think nolan will be back but after he does another project.

Obama is going to suspend his campaign and fly back to Chicago to meet with Nolan until this is all sorted out.
That's the kind of move that would win the campaign.

The other is asking undead Heath Ledger to be his running mate.

Don't forget that when the Dark Knight was being filmed it had some bizarro alternate title so people won't know about it. Also, Goyer said much earlier that he knows what Nolan is going to do for the third act and he co-wrote Begins so that might mean something.
