yes. pretty sure we won't be hearing about the third movie until at least 2009.effzee said:is it wrong and stupid of me that every time this thread is updated i come running in thinking there will be news about part 3 and how nolan is on board?

Hmm... cause the thing is, I am getting this at Futureshop and even their regular release (when zoomed in) says "2-Disc Special Edition" yet not mentioned in the website itself (They don't have two-disc special edition). The reason I'm getting from Futureshop is that they have the Steelbook edition which I'm hoping is 2-disc.Pai Pai Master said:No. Standard is one-disc, special is two.
Gouty said:Let me get this straight, if I want it on Blu ray but want all the extras, I have to buy that lame bike toy set?
Buckethead said:No thats the super special blu-ray version or whatever. The normal blu-ray has the extras too. Sans the bat-bike.
shagg_187 said:That's what I am asking. If the normal version has all the extras, then it's 2-disc, but I am told the opposite. I don't want them bike.
Buckethead said:This is what you want ($24):

This is the above item plus unnecessary bat-bike ($48):

shagg_187 said:Fucking awesome! So i guess every release is 2-disc. That said, I'll get the steelbook if it really is
Here's what I'm talking about by the way:

Iron Man was 2-disc so hopefully this is too...
I'd like to think we'd make a new thread at that point. It's what I'd do.effzee said:is it wrong and stupid of me that every time this thread is updated i come running in thinking there will be news about part 3 and how nolan is on board?
Is it for DVD too?Linkzg said:omg steel book tdk makes me so happy
Buckethead said:Ahh gotcha, not sure about the steel books though.
But correct, every Blu-Ray release is 2 Discs (1 for Blu Ray of movie, extras + 1 hi-res Digital Copy).
However there is two different single disc standard DVD release (1 standard, 1 widescreen) but also a 2-disc Special Edition.
So there are 5 SKUs: 2 of them for Blu-Ray releases, 3 of them for Standard DVD releases.
Confusing, I know. Fuckin' cash cowing Warner Bros.
Yes. Both available at futureshop.SpeedingUptoStop said:Is it for DVD too?
bumpkin said:I know it's probably been said time and time again, but man, it sucks that Ledger passed away. He did an absolutely amazing job playing the character; dare I say his Joker makes Nicholson's look like a bad joke. With Heath's passing, it raises the question... Who/how will they ever have the character appear again in a future movie? I mean you're talking about finding someone with the same look, the same delivery and the same presence. I simply don't think it can be done and that really sucks.
If Heath gets an Oscar for that role, he deserves it; dead or not. That man nailed the role.

Buckethead said:I know I may take a lot of flack for this, but I'm with you: Nicholson's Joker sucked. It was horrible.
The movie may have done a lot of good "in it's day" but contemporarily, it doesn't stand up. There are oh so many reasons for this. Firstly, film making has matured with the growth of technology and other factors and the expectation of the audience along with it.
But about Jack's performance as the Joker: he's a joke. A walking punchline. He was funny, but he was in no way, shape or form threatening. A villain can be funny, likable, but never non-threatening.
The reason Ledgers/Nolans/Goyers/etc. Joker was so great was because he was so funny and thus likable (and far more layered and interesting that Jack's) but then when he got violent, psychotic, the audience was torn because he "wasn't that bad" in the beginning. He goes from "likeable but misunderstood" to "murderous and sinister". This grinds on the emotions of the audience because this guy they liked went to the dark side, thus forcing them to engage in the villian's motivation/persona, and engage further into the story and believe completely in the world. It's real, it's human.
Listen, I have tremendous for Jack and his work. Most recently he proved in "The Departed" that he can still pull off a great villian. His performance as Frank in The Departed is everything that he should have been in 1989. Occasionally goofy, but never at the expense of sacrificing believability and credibility.
But Jack as The Joker in the 1989 film was a comic book character in a graphic novel world.
P.S. Oscar for Ledger agreed, not for death phenomena, but the quality of the performance. It was transcendent.

Bluray disc requires bluray player. If you have bought bluray player on your PC or if it's built-in then yes, it will work. A regular DVD-ROM present in PC will not play this.SpeedingUptoStop said:How can one organize an online viewing party over bluray? Do bluray discs work on normal computers? I don't follow.
This is exactly what I was thinking. He was an evil fucker from the beginning.faceless007 said:WTF? How the fuck was Ledger's Joker at any point "likable"? He's introduced by cold-bloodedly offing his accomplices at the bank without a moment's hesitation, then he walks into the gangster meeting and slams a pencil through a guy's eyeball. I don't buy that he's supposed to start off as "funny and likable"; from the first scene, he's ripping through the film like the shark in Jaws (Nolan's analogy) as a depraved, sadistic killer. More than anything, I think the opening bank heist (by itself a spectacular piece of filmmaking) immediately sets up that the Joker is in no way the cackling, prank-pulling comedian of 1989. There's no transition to that point, he just is that murderous.

The fact that he stayed cheerful and carefree in an "I just don't give a fuck" kind of way actually made him that much scarier. I thought his character was terrifying.Talladega Knight said:This is exactly what I was thinking. He was an evil fucker from the beginning.
The fact that he was simply incombatable was what was so terrifying. It got to a point where you could believe they could nuke Gotham to kill him and the fucker would still one up you.:lolGhaleonEB said:The fact that he stayed cheerful and carefree in an "I just don't give a fuck" kind of way actually made him that much scarier.
