Oh there has to be a third story to tell.
We have to know what happens to Gotham now that they believe Batman is a villain.

new bad guy comes to town, batman becomes missed and the people are sorry for mistreating him because they need his help, Batman saves the day again

that part is obvious, I'm just cruious about what villain they would use

For some reason, I don't think that Nolan would take such a simple approach.
I could see Gotham trying to rally together to take on this new menace, but realizing it becomes bleeker and bleeker.

Batman takes care of it behind the scenes, still giving Gotham a moral victory, and being on the outsts.

I'd like to see Two Face starting the movie robbing a bank, with Batman saving the day. Later on, Bruce Wayne meets a strange employee with a crazy invention, who later goes crazy and becomes obsessed with riddles because Bruce Wayne thinks his invention is ethically wrong.

He then meets up with Two Face in his lair where they decide to team up to rid Gotham of Batman and all that good stuff.

So if there are no deleted scenes, what is this pic from? Was it just made for promotional purposes, or am I forgetting it from one of the scenes?

That... has potential...

I would also throw in a love interest who has a thing for men with scarred psyches.

Maybe give him some corny name so you can play on words like a Bond girl.

He was referencing Batman Forever =X

Dude! I hope someone's able to record that somehow...I'm not sure if I'll be able to get the TDK BD by then...
No doubt, two dozen guys will be transcribing the thing. We will definitely get to hear Nolan answer 100,000 questions.

And then they play battleship to kill Batman.

Some random questions/thoughts after seeing it for the hundredth time:

The bank robber who we later find out is the Joker starts out standing on the street corner, mask in hand (the shot in one of the For Your Consideration posters). But it's broad daylight and there are people around--was he really standing there with all his makeup on in full view of anyone on the street?

What was the point of the gas released in the bank owner's mouth?

The scene when Batman kills Gambol and holds "tryouts" for the remaining henchman by breaking the pool cue--I don't know what that's supposed to imply. Are they supposed to fight to the death with one piece of splintered wood between them?

Yes. Notice that when the Joker breaks the pool cue in half, he inspects each stick to see which is sharper.

Rented the Bluray from the video shop last night (Mom and pop shop who gets releases on Fridays) and I was unable to finish the film. I've seen it twice in theaters and I just couldn't find the juice to soldier through it a third time, seemed to familiar... I liked it but it definitely isn't the type of movie I can watch consecutive times. Looks amazing on Bluray though :D

thats not even from the movie. The real cops showed up and started harassing the crew about not having the right permits and Bale had to fuck some shit up.

For the third flick I'd like either of the two ideas to happen:

The Riddler played by Michael Emerson. Paint the Riddler to somewhat of a hero "shining light" on social injustices, but Bruce sees through his bull. The Riddler constantly puts out riddles to the public, ones that he always finds out. Basically think of him as a news-paper insider giving out tips. However the Riddler has a dark side and "shines that light" on people so brightly that the guilt drives them to suicide, etc. Once he sees Batman is back and out to get him he dolls out a riddle that asks 'who is the Batman'. I think Emerson's stoic and very wicked spin would contrast Ledger's anarchist Joker very well. LOST fans know what I'm talkin' about.

The Phantasm (if you are unfamiliar with the character don't highlight) played by
some good actress with big tits. Maybe Kate Winslet? Someone who looks nice but still can nail the visceral/crying/etc. stuff. It'd be a great match to Nolan's gritty, realistic world I think. Basically paint Bruce as still vulnerable after Rachel's death and looking for love and blam Andrea happens. He falls in love with her, probably a little too readily, and this makes his Bat-sleuthing a little sloppy. Also fits in with the ending to The Dark Knight where people are going to be hunting Batman.

I think if I were one of the people in that 100,000 to ask a Nolan a question, I wouldn't ask him anything, I'd just tell him to cast Michael Emerson as the Riddler and then disconnect.

I believe there was an extended version of the scene where Batman is racing out of the police HQ to rescue Dent/Rachel. Batman was supposed to race along the tops of police cars to get to the batpod quicker. I assume that is where this publicity shot comes from, the set where they filmed that scene.

The Riddler is not Ben Linus. Nolan is smarter than to say 'Hey that lets cast that guy because a character he plays in that show is similar to a character in my movie! Wouldn't want to cast actors who have to make a transition!'

True, but it's certainly more original than the Johnny Depp as Riddler, Angelina Jolie as Catwoman rumor and fanboyish gushings.

I hadn't even considered Phantasm. That would be fuck awesome.

Not more original, just as bad though. I've always thought Guy Pearce would be a good choice for Riddler.

As much as I love Dark Knight I really hope Nolan can get one or possibly two more films out before he embarks on a 3rd Batman film (I think his involvement will be guranteed).

Yeah - I'd love to see something else of the same quality as The Prestige before/if he does another Batman.

I wanna know the 3 criterion necessary for a scene to make it into the film.

I have a guess. The first two are easy/screenwriting 101:

1. The scene must move the plot.
2. The dialogue must reveal character.

the third is probably Aristotle's first rule of story telling,

3. The scene must have a beginning, middle and end.

But that's kind of a more umbrella guideline for crafting every element of a story..

perhaps his third rule had something to do with describing the relationship between the protagonist and the antagonist?

Two Face is dead, Nolan and Eckhart both confirmed the character will STAY dead never return

What if they fired Nolan and Eckhart and replaced them with Schumacker and Tommy Lee Jones?

TDK made Ebert's top 10

http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081205/COMMENTARY/812059997/1023

"The Dark Knight" The best of all the Batmans, Christopher Nolan's haunted film leaps beyond its origins and becomes an engrossing tragedy. The "comic book movie" has at last reclaimed its deep archetypal currents. With a performance by Heath Ledger as the Joker that will surely win an Oscar, a Batman (Christian Bale) who is tortured by moral puzzles and a district attorney (Aaron Eckhart) forced to make impossible choices.

WHAT IF Nolan goes back in time to the 30's and brings his modern equipment to actually BECOME the Batman and record it cheaply and then he comes back and makes documentarys about Batman?

Where do you see top ten?

In these hard times, you deserve two "best films" lists for the price of one. It is therefore with joy that I list the 20 best films of 2008, in alphabetical order. I am violating the age-old custom that film critics announce the year's 10 best films, but after years of such lists, I've had it. A best films list should be a celebration of wonderful films, not a chopping process. And 2008 was a great year for movies, even if many of them didn't receive wide distribution.

WHAT IF that's what already happened?

Phantasm, Hush, Lady Shiva, Black Mask, Calendar Man, Deadshot, Hugo Strange, The Riddler, The Penguin and The Red Hood are villains I wouldn't mind seeing in the third. Not all of them, but a combination of two wouldn't be bad.

No Catwoman... ever.

My guess: Does it move the plot forward, does it move the characters forward, and is it interesting to watch?

If all movies had those guide lines (or atleast 2 of the 3 as character-driven pieces might not have much plot), bad movies would be much harder to come by.

So...my parents just dove into the HDTV bandwagon. Bought a 46 inch HDTV, Bluray player, and a 5.1 surround sound system...

...all for the dark knight.
