The Dark Knight SPOILER THREAD

Looks like Batman 3 will be 2012 instead of 2011. :(

That script better be GOLD, Jonah!

http://www.batman-on-film.com/BATMAN-3_B3-in-2012_3-6-09.html

Based on conversations with industry insiders as well as the apparent schedule for INCEPTION (preproduction, shooting, and postproduction), it’s starting to look like BATMAN 3 is going to end up being a Summer 2012 release.

I know a four year gap is a bummer, but cheer up -- at least we know a Nolan-directed BATMAN 3 is coming!

Just watched The Dark Knight again and man, that ending is fucking great. Gotta be one of my favourite endings to a movie.

just as long as it's released before the apocalypse, we're cool.

If it's release causes the apocalypse, I'll accept that too.

Dec. 12, 2012. The movie will come out in the summer. We're fine!

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN A. God damn it Nolan. Timm better make like 10 Batman movies that are in canon with the Animated Series and Justice League to make up for this. God damn it dude.

No, Guzim, in order to shoot for the Academy Awards & captivate audience around the world amidst the winter doldrums, it will be pushed back to Dec. 12. Christian Bale will then promptly turn on the LHC and save us all from imminent doom. He will subsequently win the oscar for Best Actor to Ever Save the Universe and PhoenixDark will cry for his sins.

Aren't Spider-Man 4 and 5 out summer 2010 and 2011 respectively? Wouldnt surprise me if this factors into a 2012 release for the next film.

Because going up against The Hobbit is so much better? I never thought we'd get Batman 3 in 2011.

The Hobbit isnt DIRECT competition in the vein of another superhero flick though. The S-M franchise, regardless of how bad S-M3 was, is still a major cash cow, as is the Batman franchise. Sony and WB are smart enough to stay out of eachother's path.

Iron Man came out last year you know along with the Dark Knight. Spider Man could be out in May while Batman 3 could come out in July. If anything, I would think Sony would be more worried than WB in this situation since the Dark Knight is the 2ND HIGHEST GROSSING MOVIE IN THE US. Big movies open in the summer. Duuuuuurrrrrrrrrrr.

2011 and 2012

But 2011 also has a shitload of other blockbuster movies, like the Avengers, Superman reboot, Terminator 5, etc.

Lulz Bale is gonna be like 40 when Batman 3 comes out.

Personally I think Christopher Nolan could invest his time in better stuff than yet another comic book movie.

Wasn't Bruce Wayne in his 40's in the comics?

Sure, it's an ironic parody on the shittily designed Obama "Hope" poster.

One is original work, the other is a photoshop filter.

uhm, the other is also supposed to be a parody of the Obama posters, only it looks like it was drawn by some 2nd rate Image comics artist from 1992.

The original Obama poster is virtually a trace of an actual photograph by hack 'artist' Shepard Fairley.

So then someone took a picture of the Joker, opened up Photoshop, and went
Filters >> Cutout, messed with the colors a bit and viola, crappy art.

It's a trace of a trace.

Whereas that one, while not as hipstery, actually took time, effort, and talent.

Point is: whether you like it or not....someone took time to make it, considerable moreso than the one you posted, and you were ragging on it. Dick move.

The "HA" in "CHAOS" is also considerably more thought out than "JOKE". Is it because it sorta-kinda (and actually doesn't) rhyme with "HOPE"?

I'm surprised WB wouldnt do everything in their power to make sure at most it takes 3yrs for the third to get released.....you dont want a sequel to a movie that made a billion dollars to take 4 years.

As a fan I'm totally fine with it, I know Nolan and co. are going to put out quality...dont need to rush them.

On the other hand, you don't want to piss off some vital crew that gave you a billion dollar movie.

To show you how much WB lets Nolan be Nolan

http://toddalcott.livejournal.com/246698.html

In August, I had a meeting with a producer who has had some experience producing Batman movies. The Dark Knight was still the number one movie in theaters that day, and conversation naturally turned to it.

ME: So -- The Dark Knight.
PRODUCER: I know.
ME: Right?
PRODUCER: I know. It's amazing. I know.
ME: So. You tell me. You make this kind of movie. You tell me. How?
PRODUCER: How what?
ME: How does a movie like that get made? In this environment, where anything complicated or challenging or pessimistic or visionary get ironed out to appeal to the broadest possible market, how does a movie like that get made? That's an expensive movie with a lot of moving parts -- the producers, the cast, the special effects, the location shooting -- how does a picture like that get made, and end up that good?
PRODUCER: Because Christopher Nolan gets no notes.
(pause)
ME: What do you mean?
PRODUCER: I mean, the studio gives him no notes. None. Zero.
ME: The director gets no notes?
PRODUCER: None.
ME: So, you're telling me, Christopher Nolan and his brother write the script --
PRODUCER: And then they shoot it. And the studio gives them no notes. They've given them the project, they trust their vision, and they let them shoot it the way they want. And that's how a movie like that gets made.

Uwe Boll takes time to make his movies and we rag on them. Who gives a shit?

just admit you're wrong. the one actually done by an artist is sick; the one you posted is at best a nice little chuckle from a photoshop amateur.

That is about the dumbest reporting ever.

He could be the next Batman simply because Bale had a meltdown? Last I remembered Bale was signed on for three movies and there is absolutely no way in hell does his rant cause anything but more publicity for his movies. Actually only for Terminator. By the time Batman 3 comes out in 2012, his rant really will not be that memorable.

Australian paper spreading a rumor about an Australian actor getting the role of Batman? :lol

Nolan gave you guys Ledger, you all need to calm the fuck down down there!

Sorry, we just get so excited. Did you hear about HBO's The Pacific actually being the battle for Australia?

Why would Bale be replaced...he has stated that he will continue to be Batman (by his contract) as long as Nolan stays on as director. Nolan also likes Bale and given that the studio is letting him do what he wants I can't see this changing unless there is a serious fallout or something.

Bale is a great Batman though, if he could control his over emotive Bat-voice he'd be even better.

People taking his rant a little too seriously.

watching TDK again today only made the wait for the next movie harder. At least I can't get tired of this movie and probably will average 15 viewings until the third film.

The Dark Knight has left the building.

Distributor Warner Bros. has hung up the cowl and cape for The Dark Knight after 231 days of service. With a $533.3 million final tally as of Mar. 5, the picture is the top superhero or comic book movie of all time.

The Dark Knight stands as the most attended movie since Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace in 1999, ranking 27th on the All Time Adjusted for Ticket Price Inflation chart. Unadjusted, writer-director Christopher Nolan' Batman sequel is second only to Titanic, and its phenomenal 33-week run includes $49.9 million from IMAX venues, a record for a two-dimensional re-mastered IMAX release.
