This. If you're 21, you're legally an adult. Your parents can't do a damn thing other than kick you out of the house for being a pothead.

Also let this be a lesson to kids to learn to hide your internet history from your parents via various ways. I grew up with computer illiterate parents so I never had to worry, but I still hid my porn and shit.

We get along great. I love my family. But "getting out of the situation" would turn the best years of my life into a stressful blur. As it is now I only work a couple times a month. To be able to afford to move out into my own place I would have to work a shit ton more and/or take out loans. I'm going to be living in an apartment next semester for school, but even then, if I get caught with weed they are going to step helping with tuition. That shit is expensive, and I have two years of schooling left. Making the decision to continue with my lifestyle, as harmless as it is to others and as joyful as it is to me, could LITERALLY cost me tens of thousands of dollars. It simply wouldn't be wise

My parents still love me and always will. From their perspective they are helping me by prohibiting me from continuing to be a "drug user" as they put it. They are just doing what they think is best. And while I'm living in their house, I still have to follow their rules

To EzLink's parents, since you're probably reading this: you're probably good parents since EzLink's a great guy, but you need to stop freaking out about this whole atheism business. If there is a God, and if there is a heaven, then I'm sure that that God would recognize EzLink as being a great guy and admit him into heaven. Otherwise I'm not sure why I (or anyone else) would want to believe in that God.

Your history wouldn't change, I'm sure, and with the current search function is almost unbrowseable anyway (no offense intended to the site's administration). You would just have to stay low for a while or something, or somehow reveal your identity in some way (through your avatar?) that couldn't be picked up by using a simple search engine.

It's horrible that the guy had to grow up in an environment where he's forced to hide his true nature from his parents. He's clearly not a destructive sociopath or something. The fact that he understands the nature of his drug use and can clearly discuss his views on religion means that his parents should be taking him a little more seriously. He's not a 14 year old.

Perhaps they never gave him the chance to express his beliefs more openly or maybe he never took the chance to do it himself, but invading his privacy and what I'm assuming is going to be an even more restrictive life at home isn't the course of action they should have chosen to take. Taking the effort to understand the situation and speak more openly about it would work, I think.

My parents snooped around on my computer once and found my porn. I was 20 at the time and it was pretty much a "So yeah, what?" situation. Maybe your parents should consider themselves lucky that they broke into your personal belongings and came out with a GAF account, not good ol' American lesbian butt-licking, double-sided dildo fucking, quality shit.

I just can't get over how out of touch with real life his parents are. GAF is full of kids, adults, idiots, smart people, workers, college professors, whatever you can think of. It's past that point, with thousands and thousands of members. Yet they think it's some sort of ultra-underground dump. It makes no sense.

EzLink's parents, if everyone here tells you you are control freaks, you might want to rethink your outlook on parenting. Let your son make mistakes. Let him have his own opinions. Listen to what he has to say. Ask him about him. He's twenty freaking one. When I was that age, I lived abroad (in the US, from France), across the ocean, after having saved a bit of money from doing working-class jobs. I turned out okay, I have a successful job in what I like to do (american history). I disagree with my parents on many things. I'm Atheist. I'm socialist. I hate marijuana. I don't smoke. I'm doing WELL. Stop with your idiotic preconceptions on what's right for your son, you might want to leave a bit more freedom. He loves you no matter what, even if he becomes an anarchist for all you know.

Believe it or not, but it's kinda... hard... to get jobs in this current climate, dude. Also some college age kids that don't go out of state (AKA: aren't silver spoon-fed kids that work 24/7) stay with their parents to lower college costs.
