The Division - 15 minutes of new gameplay

The Division |OT| Door Closing Simulator

The Division |OT| Die Hard in November

The Division |OT| A little bit Clancy, A lotta bit RPG

usually threads like this serve as an unofficial OT or whatever until the real thing comes out...saves the board from being filled with a different post every time a new video, promotion, etc comes out

basically every new thing about the game has just been posted in here since it went up

Using this as the Beta thread would be great for keeping clutter down but with the name and OP, a lot of people would miss it and it's pretty likely that someone will end up making a thread anyways. "Anyone playing The Division Beta?" or something along those lines.

The Division Beta |OT| Rumble in the Bronx....eventually.

The Division Beta |OT| No more parties in UB

The Division Beta |OT| Enter the 36th Chamber

The Division Beta |OT| The Marcy Projects Official video game

Lucky!!!!!! I got some other incentives.....but not physically paid lol. Most of the tests I've done were 3 hours and you usually got the game instead of the miniscule cash payout.

Receiving anything for testing is technically being paid. You are being rewarded for your time...

I have a decently capable PC (970 +OC'd 2500K), but this game will definitely be a PS4 purchase. The largest player base will almost definitely be on console.

Likely so. I'm in the same exact boat.

I'm going to take a look at the PC beta and make a final call. The community on the consoles will likely be larger but I'm not sure I want to give up the eye candy and frame rate.

PS4 will likely have the largest player base, but I'd imagine they will be comparable on this release.

Aren't Dark Zones large scale pvp (potentially) areas? It would seem that playerbase is important.

Dark Zones are instanced to just a few concurrent squads.

Yeah, looks like the same boring game play we've had many times these last few years. I'm taking this off my wish list for now.

Looks like one of the better marryings between action and rpg if you ask me. Diablo 2 is one of my favorite games ever and that that was just click click click. It's like people don't even understand the major draws of the loot farming genre.

NDA leaks have existed since the beginning of video games, hardware, cars.....you name it.

Please tell me what fucks things up for everyone else? Is the beta going to get magically pulled next week? Is your life ruined because of someone else doing a leak?

It's all on the poster and the poster alone. I have been seeing this "fucks things up for everyone" for nearly 12 years since I alpha tested the original guild wars......I really, really would love examples here on how it fucks things up for a poster taking liability on himself of breaking the NDA. It's a problem between him and Ubisoft. How exactly does that fuck things up for you?
Too many people leaking through these alphas means more restricted access to alphas. If companies see that their games get constantly leaked through some test companies, they will stop using those companies.

I kinda doubt an NDA is a legally binding contract. I doubt it's even a contract, it's more of an agreement (hence the A). Can't really have a legally binding contract without names of the people who are signing a contract.
Or will they sue xXxGamerxXX, 1337Snipa and ShootyMcCrouch?

NDA is an honor system, they must rely on people being nice and not saying anything, and if they do say, the most they can do is get upset and ban those people.

Maybe you should research before talking then. People are being paid by the testing company and have signed a contract, with their real name and info.

Not understanding the people moaning about "bullet-sponge" in this game. It's open world with pvp and you want people one-shotting you? Yeah, no. You need to get rid of some realism in games in order for it to be fun and balanced.

hmmm I'm wondering if you've ever played an open world pvp game before with comments like this. Also this video wasn't even open world OR pvp it was a bog standard cover based corridor shooter where standard enemies took nearly a magazine each to go down.

another video...from the XB1 event the other day but seems to show some more stuff the others maybe didn't go into

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DL-pZoNqKE

one thing I hadn't seen yet was that you can make an on-screen timer countdown over an enemy to better setup a timed attack

Nice didnt know that.
He says it also right about the bosses with alot of health. Sure its "weird" at first. But if you understand the game it just makes sense. The focus is then more on teamwork, flanking, use of skills etc instead run and gun if the bosses are down with a couple of shots.

I'm out the loop when it comes to new games and just heard about The Division today. I watched some of the event videos but still don't understand exactly what this game is. Is it safe to think of it being kind of like Destiny besides the setting and view point? There is a big story arc and hub spots, you can run around as a single player but can't really progress the story, must group up for larger story missions, and there is a pvp element(not team or map objective based though).

It's also very much an RPG though, that's what Massive have always said about it. So you're going to have tough enemies who take more damage, needing better weapons to take them on etc. It's not really standard 'shooter PvP' in its setup for damage.

This is really good footage. Does a great job showing off the city to someone who hasn't been completely in the loop on the game.

I love the inclusion of neutral NPCs that are hiding or running away from firefights. Adds a nice bit of depth.

Also, XBO doesn't look that bad here. I'm hoping the PC footage we get later in the week really impresses.

This should help, check out the vids.

Remember this quote from an interview with Open World Games.

"We address every console, every platform as its own version. So we try to stay away from the thing where you go for the least common denominator and everybody suffers for it. We want to make a good experience on all respective formats.”

Hopefully the PS4 got a boost from the Xbox version during development, will be interesting to see how they are different.

You can tell it's an Ubisoft game by it's over informative UI.

Once again, i see more numbers, words and indicators than an actual world.

Ah.....I was talking public alphas like earlier in December. The VMC leaks are big deals and people get paid for that testing.

The alpha gameplay that I leaked could be anyone honestly....game names, friends stealing accounts to play. People actually paid to be in the alpha not the other way around(some paid for it via pre-order). Hell my little brother has access due to game sharing. But if you check that thread and how many people pre orders because of my video it's staggering. I actually only uploaded the video because I like the product. Yes leaks can work both ways don't get me wrong but when it creates positive hype people get interested and are willing to check it out and try it. I'm pretty sure at least 20 quoted that post and pre ordered after watching the 50 minutes of my direct footage

I hope not. If so, they have a crucial lack of understanding in regards to why Destiny is so popular.
I've got no stats on this, but I'm assuming a major reason for Destiny's popularity would be how mechanically superb it is.

Going by the alpha, The Division's combat is fine, but it's not as exemplary a TPS as Destiny is a FPS. I'm hoping the beta will be a bit more polished.
