The Division - 15 minutes of new gameplay

Amazon will send you a code, which when redeemed on Ubi's site, will allow you to chose the beta on your platform of choice.

I aready have it pre-ordered on one platform so I know how the first code works. I'm just wondering if they'd send me a second.

I've not been keeping up with the thread so this may have been answered but how does this game scale when your party is made up of different levels? Is it an average or simply based on the highest level in your party? Assuming this goes for both PVE and PVP?

As I understand (taken from Reddit) is that:

1) It scales by party size
2) Different areas of the map have different difficulty encounters (zone/mission based)
3) There are 2 difficulty settings you can pick at the start of a mission that impact mob and loot drop quality.

Heard on Reddit that GMG's Division keys are another case of alleged grey market keys and not given to them by Ubisoft, hence no beta access bundled to GMG pre-order of Division.

Edit:

CDKeys is cheaper + if allegation is to be believed most likely has same source as GMG is using for Division keys :D
Reddit is biased in that way against GMG as some mods on one of the forums didn't get insight or something to their business and sellers so they blacklisted them.

GMG has always had good stuff with Authorized keys and on quite the few devs good-to-go list. However I've only bought the publisher marked titles.

Division I got on Steam.
what do we have to do to get one? he speaks some goa'uld language.
Better call Dr Jackson.

Anyone have an issue with redeeming their code from Amazon? When I enter it, it comes up as invalid. I contacted customer support and was told I will get an email when I can redeem. I said that I should be able to redeem it on Ubi's site now, seems a little strange.

im worried about the darkzone stuff tbh, whats to stop assholes just camping the extraction points and making it pointless to ever try and get loot there?

Or camping the safezones so you can't even get past the entrance

I'm super curious about this game. Was on my radar initially but slowly fell off after the delays and disappointment in the reveals.

The latest content shown actually looks promising, and PC is starving for a Destiny style game. I really hope this is good, I'm kid of burnt out gaming wise and an online shooter experience like this could be just what reinvigorates me.

Nothing really. I expect darkzones to be renamed to Frustazones.

Didn't whole "Is GMG selling grey market keys?" controversy also hit GAF, back when there was that debacle between GMG and CDPR over GMG selling TW3 keys? GMG being pissed about CDPR not providing them with keys and getting them from "3d party". That controversy also surrounded GMG's Battlefront and BO3 keys, BO3 key stuff was also on GAF. Some getting BO3 keys with Nuketown access and some getting keys without Nuketown access.

But yeah, r/GameDeals don't allow GMG anymore because all controversy about how legit their keys are and GMG not playing ball with mods of that sub-reddit. Apparently some "shadier" sites do play ball with mods of sub and provide evidence about sources of their keys.

Nothing. I expect more ganking oriented groups to camp;
  • DZ entrance gates
  • Extraction points
  • Landmarks ["With these landmarks you will find more challenging encounters rewarding you with better loot"]
for easy kills and for getting easier access to loot that requires extraction.

Toughen up/get good man, Cmon. :)

Is the logic that people are expecting the Dark Zone loot to be better? The idea of this sounds really interesting although, honestly, I could see it end up being a disaster. Is there no more traditional PvP in this game?.

Others answered your question about the best gear supposedly being the Dark Zone, so I won't belabor that beyond this line.

The *idea* is interesting, at first blush, but what I'm *afraid* will happen is you now have a situation where griefing is literally incentivized. Any game where players can kill other players is going to have griefing. Hell, any game where it's possible for a player to make another player's progress difficult even outside of outright killing them has griefing.

Now imagine you're playing an endgame mission with your fireteam. It takes a while because your team is probably a little underleveled/undergeared. You finally finish it and get your contaminated sniper rifle with all the perks you've been waiting for. In Destiny, congrats! You just got it. It's yours now.

In Division, you now have to get to the extraction zone, avoid PVE enemies, avoid rogues that the game actively encourages to kill you (getting rewards for killing players then surviving their retaliation long enough for a timer to expire) AND targeting players who have DZ loot (you can tell because the character model gets a bright yellow tube on them). A group of rogues geared specifically for PVP kills you and your group.

Due to a weird spawn or encountering some PVE enemies, you can't get back to the rogues before the rogue timer expires, they get the bonus for that, and they extract YOUR perfect sniper rifle. You're left with nothing but whatever blue/green garbage you picked up during the mission, having now spent 30-45 minutes on the encounter and whatever time was spent on the rogue battle and ensuing PVE fight to try to get to the rogues before they exracted.

On top of that, they're all 12 years old and screaming/laughing ethnic and sexual orientation slurs like prepubescent hyenas via the proximity chat while they're stealing the shit you earned.

This dramatization of something that will definitely happen is on top of the more vanilla issues of griefers waiting just inside dark zone spawn points and general devolving of dark zone into team deathmatch.

I think it's a horrible idea. The only way I can see it working is an opt-out, my aformentioned smart instancing, or heavily tilting the risk/reward against going rogue to the point that it's really not worth bothering with.

EDIT: no, there doesn't appear to be any traditional PVP (i.e. PVP specific modes like deathmatch, team dm, ffa, ctf, et al.)

It's pretty much the wilderness from runescape, hopefully they provide multiple entry points

So do you think they will be instanced with limited groups in each instanced DZ? This would prevent a large hunting party (several groups) going in and clearing out a bunch of campers (which would be cool if possible).

This will be my reaction when the game releases and the Dark Zone is fine and people just have fun with it

I aready have it pre-ordered on one platform so I know how the first code works. I'm just wondering if they'd send me a second.

I pre-ordered for Xbox from Amazon, redeemed my code on thedivisiongame.com, selecting Xbox as my platform, and it said I'd get a code via email when the beta starts. I canceled the pre-order afterward.

A month later I pre-ordered 2 copies of the game, one for PC (physical) and one for Xbox. Amazon sent me 2 more codes. I redeemed the first for PC, and when I tried to redeem the second one for Xbox, it told me I was already in the beta for that platform.

People's experiences with DZ will depend very heavily on what kind players they get put against. Those who keep getting short draw and put against griefers / gankers will hate DZ with every fabric in their bodies, where those getting balanced to helpful player in matchmaking will find it good co-op experience with some PvP.

If penalties for attacking and killing other players aren't severe there is really nothing that says you shouldn't kill solo players and weakened groups if they have bright yellow containers on them. After all you take gentle slap on the wrist in change for possibility of getting top tier items for doing almost nothing.

What I have heard and read about DZ it sounds like candyland for those who are willing to wait for others to clear out AI strongholds and then move in to kill weakened players.

Yeah there was a big fuss about it. Idk what to think anymore.

Camping the extract zones don't seem all that bad of an idea :P

The Beta OT is finished. I hope you guys enjoy it when it goes up. It will be up on Wednesday early morning/afternoon.

Which brings me to the most important part, the thread title. If anyone has any good ideas I'm all ears.

My idea is: Ubisoft Marketing Does Not Play Around. But that may be too obscure for most people?

Anyways let's hear them.

The ironic thing is that the Dark Zone is bad but completely not because of the reasons anyone has listed, like players trolling.

It's mostly because it was boring. Super low density of AI opponents, most people just running around blindly looking the small encounter pockets to get loot. There's no mission structure or events happening.

Punishment for going rogue is pretty strict and tied into the the Dark Zone-only progression schemas, you can lose significant amounts of Dark Zone currency as well as Dark Zone level progression from a single rogue death, and it escalates the higher your wanted level is. There's no real endgame for a pack of player-killers no matter how geared they are because everyone on server basically gets a kill order for you, and deaths when you are not rogue (AKA hunting rogues) are fairly inconsequential (unless you're holding some gear you want to extract). So basically the pack is up against a never-ending horde mode of non-rogue players, and are never able to "win" because each kill resets their timer.

I never once encountered ANY good loot in the Dark Zone as a raw drop. I did buy one thing with Dark Zone currency. All my purple items came from grinding Hard mode missions.

Non-Downgrade Agreement (because angry NDA people) :)

The loot that drops in the game – are there some items that only happen as random drops and some only available from certain vendors within your safe house?

There’s a little bit of segmentation like that. Obviously we don’t want there to be only one way to play the game and one thing that’s “the best”. When you want to really, really get the very best, there are some things you’re going to want to craft by finding some really, really hard to get components. Some thing’s you’re going to want to find in the Dark Zone on the hardest fights. Some thing’s you’ll want to purchase from safe rooms in the Dark Zone, where you have other agents that you purchase from and you use the currency that you acquire in the Dark Zone. It’s a special kind of market that only happens in the Dark Zone. So there’s not one way, not one thing, of getting the best gear.

I think DZ is going to be a mixed bag to begin with, especially in the beta. People will be very aggressive to start out with since they have very little to lose and they want to try out the mechanics of the DZ. I'd imagine things will even out more fairly once the full game is out and your actions have more consequences. I watched one of Arekks' videos the other day and he mentioned that if you are rogue and you die you lose a rather sizeable chunk of your DZ rank (even more at subsequent higher rogue levels) and credits. It's gonna be one of those things where your experience with it is going to vary drastically each time you go in there depending on who you encounter, far more so than a normal multiplayer match of any other shooter.

Basically, I wouldn't judge the dark zone too much based on what your experience is with it in the beta. Things are likely to be different later on.

Bolded part is little confusing considering they have stated that game doesn't have trading system in place that would allow transactions between agents aka players. Also wording about finding really hard to get components is little vague imo. In context of whole answer it to me implies that in order to get said component you have to do DZ and thats it.

The Division Beta |OT| - Addition By Subtraction

(that's a terrible title)

If anyone has a spare beta code or two and is willing to part with it/them PM me. I can paypal a few bucks for them. Looking for PS4 codes. NA region if that matters.

So is the DZ going to be the only PVP in this game? Would like to have some sort of organized matchmaking system for replayability.

Only PvP.

Remember that the Division is supposed to work together.
The Dark Zone communications with the outside are jammed, hence why "going rogue" and then going back out and being ok can happen, thematically wise.

I never got a beta key from psn

goto amazon.co.uk. Pre-order the game. And you should get the email with the code instantly after the order confirmation email.

That's how I got it. Amazon.com didn't send me any code, so I cancelled it and ordered from amazon uk. I cancelled the order from amazon uk as soon as I got the code.

EDIT: Check your PM's.
