It's cool an all, not played enough to decide if the gameplay is all that good. Just really wish the premises was more interesting than straight faced, virus wipes out city and leaves gangs in control. Its so self serious and seems boring from what's in the beta.

I really like it so far. Do we know if the map I see right now is all of it, or is it bigger?
Because right now it stops tight before central park.... I want central park.

That's what we get in the release.

Don't think we'll get huge new overworld Areas till next year, honestly.

The announced paid Expansion don't seem like they'll add huge Areas, except maybe the underground

Since the area is contaminated, what are the chances there are infected people still roaming around, maybe introducing zombies or some sort other type of enemies.

I think it's a "normal" kind of virus that just kills people like in boring old real life

My biggest complaint so far is that for some reason Rogue status sometimes applies to players who are defending themselves from attacks instead of the initial attacker. They really need to fix that.

Anyone else playing with headphones (I'm on the PS4) and having that alert voice stuff come through crazy loud when compared to everything else? I tried turning down a bunch of the volume settings, but nothing seemed to make a difference. I ended up abruptly turning it off in annoyance.

We need that. Zombies and Infected are cool, but it's high time we had a Tom Clancy perspective on an outbreak. More "Contagion" than "The Walking Dead".

Same here, I didn't bother trying to adjust it but yes it was very loud.

And I was playing on my elite controller.

Hmm no but I do have my controller speaker off. Maybe it's that ?

Dark Zone is kind of the worst tbh. I feel like they want people fighting to take things from people but it's a barren wasteland where you get nothing. Fucking nothing. I ran around in there for like 3 hours and I got a bunch of garbage that was barely an upgrade so if someone takes it like...aight? I don't really care about anything I've ever gotten in there. It would make sense for the good gear to be sparse if you were killing NPC's a lot but there's practically no NPC's and then you get all green and white garbage.

They really need to work on making that stuff worthwhile because I can't imagine why I'd go in there when this thing goes live. I'd just feel bad about killing people for any halfway decent loot because they'd probably spent 8 hours to get it. I feel like only Satan himself would take pleasure in stealing a piece of good gear off the poor bastard's that put themselves through that torture.

I still enjoy the shooting and movement stuff though. That all feels very nice though I wish there were more options for shooting around cover as it sometimes very hard to get at an angle where you can pop and shoot around cover because there's a bunch of shit in the way. Like being able to pop AND to the side instead of one or there other based on where you are on the cover would be very much appreciated.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
Ubisoft Massive PLEASE!

You have such a fantastic game on your hands, please don't tell me the final game is as boring as the beta right now... i absolutely love the gameplay and its core mechanics but it's all useless if there is literally nothing to do in the Dark Zone.

Please fucking tell me the release build is FILLED with missions and side ops. PLEASE!

Edit: I'm running around with low settings and low fps but i don't care because WHEN something happens i'm having so much fun with the game.

Yes, the balance is completely messed up.

ECHOE DETECTED NEARBY

Holy shit dude calm down. I tried fiddling with the settings but I can't lower the volume of the announcer guy.

Its not even that I want zombies though because they've been done to death. I'm just really not into what there is of the story which is disappointing.

It's a Tom Clancy game. And the virus was smallpox. It just kills the infected. Nothing more.

Again, this is more Contagion than The Walking Dead. And that's refreshing.

Actually, the Dark Zone has plenty of blue tier loot scattered around. Takes minimal effort to kill some NPCs and get some good drops. Once you find Dark Zone Keys you can find the special chests that contain more loot too. Since loot gets better the higher level you are, you should be level 8 before going inside the DZ.

In high level gameplay videos we've seen players find purple tier and even high-end loot. Dark Zone is definitely worthwhile if you want to get strong gear.

So is the last mission at all the whole "upgrade the hospital thing in the home base"?

It is stuck on that for me. Or is there stuff after that?

I went to the computer terminal there and added those two "upgrades" as it were but the quest did not complete.

Must be nice cause I'm not even finding shit to kill and I'm hitting up all the points of interest places.

Impression so far is rather mixed.

The gameplay really isn't anything all that new and while I'm sure the visuals will improve, I'm not that impressed. If I'm going to buy and play this game, it will be absolutely dependent on whether or not my friends buy it as well as I can see this game being very fun to play with others.

That said, I did have a pretty awesome moment in the dark zone where I was able to steal another player's gear seconds before his chopper left and then vault over some walls and run away...that was pretty fun.

Rogue status? Is that something in the Dark Zone? Haven't tried it yet because I'm usually not that much into PvP. So Dark Zone isn't necessarily PvP?

I haven't really figured out how to find gear in the Dark Zone either. The only gear I got was because someone was Rogue and was calling in a helicopter, so I killed him and took it because he was a thieving jerk (or so I assumed lol).

I ran all over trying to find gear or chests or.....something.

The issue right now is that the spawn timers don't accommodate the high level of traffic in the beta. Everyone is in the Dark Zone because there's nothing else to do right now. In the full release, I think players will be spread out across the full DZ map as well as doing missions and content in the non-DZ map.

This.
Don't forget that the full game has a max lvl of 30, with way more stuff to do outside of the Dark Zone.
So the entire playerbase won't be in there AND it will be like 5 times as big as right now.

What you guys are seeing is a clown car right now

Read somewhere that being level 8 helps with getting better loot in the darkzone, but holy shit it's a massive grind getting to level 8 with only 1 story mission available.

Screw that, just going to wait for release.

This post isn't by me, it's by a guy with the same username as me.
Anyone playing on PC?

I'm really tired of going out alone. I constantly get fucked by the high level npc's or gangs formed by other players.

until people hit 30, have no PvE content and then flood the dark zone again :(

Gonna take the wait and see approach on this one. I'm afraid it might be another lack of content situation on day one a la Destiny...

Played for a few hours last night and complely loved it. The darkzone is so much fun, ran into a place where there were lots of high level baddies that just were too much for me. I dropped into cover and tried to hide, 10 seconds later a group of agents popped around a corner and we moved in to wipe them out. Was awesome

No, it isn't. I keep hearing people thinking 1 story mission means yo ujust do the madison hospital instance and you're done with the beta. there are TONS of quests around the map, story mission in this case just means instanced story oriented mission, like a dungeon. There are a bunch of quests to do, and doing all of them EASILY gets you level 8.

Getting to level 8 is pretty simple. Do the Hospital mission on Hard difficulty until you reach level 8. It doesn't take very long.

Yeah, I think my friend and I did like 8 encounters, 3-4 side missions?

You guys need to go to the situation boards and talk to the JTF officers. They show you stuff on your map and unlock it.

You also get XP for walking into new areas, even if they are behind the red wall of beta death.

Where can you find lock picks at in the beta?

Speaking of that, because I had times where I had keys and shit and didn't even know it until I died to a player...

How can you see what you've looted so far in the dark zone? The game does a horrible job of conveying that.

You get them from enemies or from loot crates.

Uh, yes, the entire game is co-op for up to 4 players. That's...kinda the point :D

So you can play the "singleplayer" sections with friends?
How does the base upgrade work then, do you upgrade together?

your keys and lockpicks are shown in the "puches" tab of your inventory

your contaminated loot is shown in your inventory. I don't even think there is a special tab for it.

When you say quests do you just mean the things on the map that say "encounter"? I can't tell if they are random every time you log in or once you do them they are cleared from the map for good.

Well, there is no "singleplayer" there is just "the game".
You can invite friends or randoms, even matchmake with them for both open world (or "free roam" as it's called in the game) and missions. You can play everything alone or with up to three others.

The Base of Operations is actually instanced for each player, since it is what governs the skills you can use. So if you walk in there, you are in your own base that can have different upgrades from your friend's who will be in their own version.

So you always upgrade your own base, not one base for everyone.
