It's an MMO...

Its an MMO that doesn't let you group except for dungeons.

My wife and i have been trying to figure out why we can't see one another in the group and i've come to find out that its due to ESO being a glorified single player game. The phase you are in depends on quests and randomness. If you are in different phases you might as well be playing different games.

I was already really disappointed in this game but now i am properly pissed.

We just wanted to level up together.

Wait hold on. So when my friend gets this, if we want to play together, we can only do that in a dungeon? What!?

You can group up for everything but the main quest. It's just when you do the quests around the villages and cities, the world changes and if somebody you are grouped with hasnt done those yet, they will be phased out from you. It's annoying, and I don't understand why the game is not just set so all players will just phase in with the group leader.

I was grouped with two friends today and we have yet to do a single dungeon. o_O

When I am in a public dungeon, what items are for me and which are for everyone? If I loot a bag or crate, am I stealing from others? How do I know?

This! I like the game when I get to play it (solo experience), playing with friends has been ass so far. Glorified single player game is spot on.

It's a pain in the ass but why can't you guys just make characters at the same time, together, so that when you want to play with one another you'll always be in the same phase? Wouldn't that work? Because it is most certainly possible to do quests with a friend in a party. Not the main story quests mind you, but the quests out in the open world are entirely doable. I had a character on PC that I played primarily with my cousin and we were able to stick with each other.

The randomize phasing is the problem ever since the launch day on PC.
It seems that they haven't fixed that yet, or it's just can't be fixed due to the megaserver characteristic.

Yeah the phasing sucks from a group perspective. I want to sometimes be able to help other people with older quests.

Can't win them all I guess.

Still cannot get into the game.

Yeah, grouping is really awkward. I wouldn't say this was a "traditional" mmo tbh. I still enjoy it though.

Does the "travel to player" option not put you in the same phase?
It did not for us. She had just spawned into the world from the tutorial, I had skipped it, and we both had the first quest. I invited her and she joined and traveled to me. I could hear her but not see her.

We both ran out of the city and then I relogged. When I loaded back in things were fine.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!

I recall this being one of the primary complaints of the game last year at launch. Guess it wasn't fixed and really does stifle the big selling point of the online angle.

The queues have been a bit bad but I get in a few minutes. I've been playing a lot already. At least it's not as bad the FFXIV:ARR launch. Those queues were insane.

Just spent twenty minutes waiting for a queue that said I was the only one in it with a one second wait to pop. Never did. I hate this game.

Yes, but they also had incentive to fix it. Pay once is a bit different.

The incentive to fix things like this is stronger for a game without a subscription (especially a game like FFXIV where you pay up front on top of the subscription). Believe me they ain't fuckin' around trying to get it under control.

Sorry if I came across a mad. It's not that. I really like the game. I am aware of MMO launch hiccups. I guess frustrated is a better choice. I hope that it's smoothed over soon.

4th mmo, second launch, but wow's various expansions had versions of this, along with sim city and diablo 3.

I know it comes with the territory, but it feels so much worse in a console setting for some reason.

Nah, just making a broader point that the more you defer revenue towards in-game transactions, the larger the impact issues like this have in terms of business. When you get into fully transaction-based models (stuff like Neverwinter) every instance of downtime - even when planned - has a more direct impact. Around launch like this it's definitely the worst since you potentially miss a bunch of revenue from your lowest retention segment (which is generally larger in a non-subscription model).

Wasn't trying to say you thought they were being lazy about it, but more that they are surely busting their ass because the incentive is actually larger for them than if they'd kept the subscription.

I just entered pvp for the first time and I'm supposed to do some training, but my only options are to skip training, or use the fast travel shrine.

Help please.

Edit: nvm, figured it out.

Wow...finally levled to 10 and did my first siege. What an epic battle.. starting off on defense against a horde of aldmeri. Pushing them back and then attacking them and slaughtering any and all stragglers. Massive scale battle with what must have been 100 plus people in the battle. Amazing! Now i see what all the mmo fuss is about. Incredible really. This is my console "next-gen" moment here. Time to go back for more.

Just did my first dungeon.....holy shit it was fucking terrible. No way to tell who had aggro, no way to tell who had what role (tank, healer, dps). Then the game never showed me a group chat channel until the dungeon was over, and that was after it had a chat seizure of switching back and forth from leaving to joining on its own. They need to improve the dungeons, unacceptable the way it is now.

Well I bought the game on disc and its been downloading the patch since yesterday afternoon.

Don't understand Sony's download servers. A speed test from my PS4 which is cable connected to the router and set in the DMZ gives me a 7mb download. Yet I'm downloading at 100 kb/s.......its going to be another 12 hours at this rate till the thing finishes.

EDIT: Also tried the MTU change and DNS to googles own and still nothing...does not make sense.

Did you try to download in standby mode? I had a similar download speed for the beta updates. Used standby mode and it was downloaded quite fast ~4 hours. Somehow PS4 is downloading much fast when in standby, hope they fix this!

So decided to get this, I'm enjoying it but I kinda with I could play it alone. If I try and sneak around everyone else just barges in and kills everyone. It's a lot more fun when I'm not around real players. Everyone else just plays like an mmo running around smashing everything, while I play it like an elder scrolls game. I also wish the bag worked on a weight system instead of having x amounts of slots. Now items that used to weigh like .01 take up large amounts of your bag, I guess the plus side is you can carry more armor and weapons this way.
