The Elder Scrolls Online Tamriel Unlimited - |OT| - Console edition

Sonic handles my blue balls
My character emerges from some inter-dimensional prison - lost, confused, with tattered rags that make him look homeless. He proceeds to walk into a clothing shop and rob the shop keeper blind. Now my character is swanky!

Yup, this is Elder Scrolls alright.

You say robbed. I say liberated materials for the cause!

I believe there's a setting to disable auto loot if it's stealing.

Good i'll look next time. Every town i'm in has dozens of people getting their asses kicked by the guards for probably accidentally stealing stuff too.

I tried riding from the starting area (Daggerfall) to get to Skyrim but the map is massive (plus I don't even know if you can just go straight there this early on)

Lol I went to sheath my weapon and hit X out of habit from playing Skyrim and ended up casting an ability onto a guard. Woops.

I am really enjoying this, but there are a couple points I'd like to raise.

/ It's far too easy to lose track of your group, aided by the fact that quests aren't started or completed for a group, just individuals, without waiting for them either.

/ Why doesn't it tell me at any point, what items are the ones that have weight

/ The map and legend aren't really that helpful. Neither are the waypoints.

/ It doesn't show, give or complete quests like other MMO. This may be just me needing to get used to it but every MMO I have played, the quest start locations were always clear. In this, I've ended up with quests after just talking to a random woman about her dog. I have no idea if the first area is complete, when to move on, etc.

I haven't really hit the meat of it yet but I am enjoying it very much. I've levelled 7 times and each time I have put it into magic...I may regret it if I keep doing that!

I just wish I understood how the skill lines work exactly.

I hope the digital foundry piece comes out soon if there is going to be one. Interested in seeing how the console version fares against the PC version with regards to IQ.

Personally, I think there are some frametime issues when a lot of players are there and there is a lack of motion blur. This can make the game feel really choppy.

I'm still playing though, trying to find the last missing people on bleakrock.

Couple quick questions, I'm sure they've been answered but I'm too lazy to peruse the whole thread.

Are there level restrictions for grouping with friends in this game? If my friend is level 40 and I'm level 5, can he still group with me and do co-op stuff?

Does this game truly feel like an MMO? Will I see other players fairly often exploring the world, outside of cities/hub areas?

Is there quite a bit of clothing/armor/weapon options for each class? Do most players look fairly unique, or does it have the issue of seeing the same 6 templates across other players?

Does the game world feel very large? Is this a game where you could have played for 100 hours and still have new places to go?

Sorry for the noob barage of questions, my friends and I recently burned out on Destiny so it would be nice to find a new game to play together, hopefully one with a lot of content.

Thanks!

/ I see <'s on the screen's edge when I rotate around, which points to the direction of people in my group. When they are in sight they have the arrow above their head. The leader has a crown, which I can also see on the compass and map.

/ There is no weight limit. You only have 60 slots (at the start) to carry items, doesn't matter what they are.

/ Not sure why, but okay.

/ Use the quest log system / set active quests? Side quest givers are all over the place, if you accept their quest then you'll have a new one. Quests in yellow I believe mean the next objective is not in the area you are currently in, green ones are. You can quick switch between active quests using the d-pad.

I get frame pauses in confined areas too, good 1/2 second stutters every 10 seconds.

Making it a bit unplayable for me.

Doesn't help me get over things like the terrible combat, am I actually hitting something with a sword??

FlyinJ

Douchebag. Yes, me.
Why is it that some quests will never be selected when I'm using the quest quick-select through the d-pad?

Finally played my copy last night (PS4) and while it gave me the old 1 sec biz in the queue, it only took about 10 minutes to actually log in around 8PM EDT and I never got kicked. I'm loving the game so far. First thing I had to do was go in the options and move that FOV slider almost all the way up. Not only could I see better but it made the 30fps framerate more bearable to me. The game controls well and looks and sounds good for an MMO. I've been playing Neverwinter on XB1 and I like it but these two games play so differently that there is room for both. Gonna start my second character tonight and try out one of the other starting areas.

EDIT - I also ran into the invisible NPC bug but I was getting ready to quit for the night anyway since it was 3AM and I had to go to work today.

So if you hold down the right d-pad you can assign emotes for quick access, what can you assign to up on the d-pad?

Consumables. Whatever you currently have assigned to up will show up as the left most slot on your bar, and holding up brings up the radial for everything else you have assigned there through the consumables menu.

Okay thanks, I wish you could put weapons in there too.

Once you get to level 15, you'll get a weapon swap ability that allows you to hit left on the d-pad to switch to a different weapon set which also gives you a second skill bar to work with. If you want you can use the same weapon type in both weapon sets and just use it to access more skills.

Didn't see an answer to my earlier question: in public dungeons there are chests which everyone can loot and then am I right a barrel or sack of wheat is instanced just for me?

The loot doesn't seem to be instanced and sometimes it does. I dont know how it works, its weird. I saw a chest, another guy looted it, and it was empty for me after the person looted it. But other times, I would see someone else loot something and then, it would still be there for me to loot also. So the answer is like, a yes and no.

Beside all the server issues...

Can this game be played in shorter sessions? .

Yes, with so many differentactivities to do, you can do something in as little as a few seconds, and hop off. For example: You could start a research before heading to work and have it done by the time you get back. You could craft a few pieces. You can steal a few things and sell them for some cash and then head out. Some quest are very short, like literally, go to the other side of town, talk to person, done.

Any tips? Keep accidentally stealing stuff instead of talking to people then the guards attack me.

I see many others having this same issue and thus why so many people be dying in town. Just like all other bethesda games, you cant just rush into talking to them. You have to carefully aim the cursor at them and see what it is your cursor is on before hitting the confirm button. It may be getting some used to, but it will save you a lot of hassle.

Been getting a fair amount of disconnects every 10 minutes or so this week. Is that fairly normal right now? I figure its just the high server load.

Yup, just about everyone is getting these disconnects, even on the official forums, community members and devs alike are talking about this.
Because they decided to cancel the open beta, they could have ran into these issues and would of have weeks to solve them before launch.

we now have to pay the price because of someones decision not to go through with the open beta.

I bet the devs are pulling crunchtime trying to solve these issues because of someone high's up dumb decision to skip on the beta.

Oh, this is great, I had no idea about that. I really kind of wish they had done a FFXIV model for the ability/skills bar.. 5 + 1 ultimate is so limiting..

This game really needs icons on the compass for your group. My friends and I had the hardest time staying together at first last night. That plus the instancing weirdness where we needed to warp to one persons instance to see each other even though we showed up on the map.

But still, played for like 4 hours last night and it was great.

I personally kind of like the design, and think it was probably the right call. This allowed them to put a lot of total skills in the game without making it an impossible behemoth to balance and actually get more casual fans to wrap their heads around.

One thing to note about the weapon swap is that if you have any toggle skills, they need to be on both skill bars or the toggle will deactivate when you swap to the bar that it isn't on.

EVERYBODY is stealing, it's all I see haha,

Seems to be the best way to make money at lower lvls. Especially with no AH.

Another good way to make money early is to do the crafting writs. The blacksmithing / woodworking / clothier ones are very easy to do and a pretty solid profit even if you have to buy all of the style materials to craft. Those three are about 1,000g per day (minus whatever you spend on style materials) which goes pretty far at the outset.

Where is a vendor for inventory space?

If you're DC, there is one in Stros M'kai and Glenumbra. The one in Glenumbra is by the crafting writ board (just outside the blacksmithing / clothier building), and I think the Stros M'kai vendor is in the area where all the crafting vendors are.

Why the fuck am I getting prompted for another 15gb update on Xbox one? Was it because I screwed up and forgot to connect my external HD when i moved my console to another room and try to start the game?

If you installed it on your external HDD and then forgot to bring the HDD across, then yes - you need to patch again.
How in the flying fuck does this make sense? I stopped installation, deleted it, plugged in my HDD and it still wants it? God damn it

Holy shit, this is stupid

I agree, best way around this is to make the person that people will be following the leader of your group for that session so he has the crown icon, which shows up on the compass. Makes it easier to keep everyone together.

Made the mistake of trying pvp before work. Oh man, that was too much fun. Totally did not want to stop. Bought back a lot of memories from Daoc.

PS4 user here. How do I mute specific people without having to disable communication completely? I've tried block via psn but I can still hear them.

This voice chat is being handled by their own servers, not Sony's PSN servers. So you can't. You are limited to the options provided in the game.

You deleted it?

No, I didn't.

I moved my Xbox over to the spare bedroom and forgot to include the external. Had the disc in the drive and when I played it, it started to install, prompting me for the update. I canceled, deleted the game and plugged in my HDD. Now when I started the game off my external, it prompted me for the 15GB update.

Its 75% right now, but I dont know how much bandwidth its already eaten.

Yeah this is why I am disabling in-game chat and only using the PS4's party chat feature when in groups. Hopefully they flesh out the chat features in the future.

I'm kinda appreciating this. Feels like an old school MMO, before they introduced quest markers all over the place. You can still locate them on your compass... non-accepted quests appear as black quest markers with a blue glow outline, I believe. So they appear on the compass as you get closer to them.

The non-intuitive nature of the map system is taking some getting used to. I assume that a location market remains Black until you complete it's objective, and then turns white?

Edit: trying to find answers, i read that you can turn quest markers off? Pretty cool if true (for those who would enjoy that).

lucky git, yet to loot any motifs personally

I got Nord. I don't know why but it was super exciting.

So PS4 GAF guild NA server time to make our heraldry... Any suggestions? No, there is no option or anything that looks like Bish so we have to come up with our own. Oh and to top it off, orange does not look orange it looks more fleshy so White/Orange GAF colors might not be the best options.

Pink and White and a picture of a bunny... Nope, just checked no bunnies you are all safe.

Ideas or suggestions peeps!
