The Elder Scrolls Online Tamriel Unlimited - |OT| - Console edition

No text chat is really ruining that feel of an MMO for me, I don't feel like I am playing in world full of other people even when they are all around me and I can hear their screaming kdis down the mic.

No Auction house seems bizarre too.

Just no one says anything, it's like playing a single player game with lag.

I kind of like it, I want to like it but I am just no sure if I do.

Did you try to download in standby mode? I had a similar download speed for the beta updates. Used standby mode and it was downloaded quite fast ~4 hours. Somehow PS4 is downloading much fast when in standby, hope they fix this!

Yeah stuck it in rest mode and looking at my routers traffic info its gone up to about 150 kb/s. Still slow but better. Sony really do need to address this!

Give it some time, might go up. They should not only fix that download problem but also allow to download updates before you have the game. My games will arrive today and I really wish I could've download the current update already. :-/

You can group up for everything but the main quest. It's just when you do the quests around the villages and cities, the world changes and if somebody you are grouped with hasnt done those yet, they will be phased out from you. It's annoying, and I don't understand why the game is not just set so all players will just phase in with the group leader.

Its because of how story centric the game is, which is a good thing. It stops spoilers and just makes it work "better" in terms of how the game ultimately runs. It isn't the best solution but it isn't the worst solution.

Yeah pre-loading patches is an awesome idea! Sony, I hope you're reading :)

Well there is the guild store where you can sell items to other people

I agree some sort of player wide auction house would be a good idea.

The other thing I find jarring is how buildings are still cut off to their own mini-maps like in a single player Elder Scrolls game. Would have been better if it was like WoW where you just walk into buildings seamlessly.

Beside all the server issues...

Can this game be played in shorter sessions? Normally I don't have the time to play for more then maybe two hours.
I remember my glorious days as a student playing WOW for many many hours, where you needed a lot of time to complete some of the dungeons.

This thread moves fast, so I re-quote myself. :) Anyone?

The fuck? Why don't they announce the maintenance in-game? I was in the middle of defending a keep! Oh well, sucks more for the attacking faction lol

Didn't see an answer to my earlier question: in public dungeons there are chests which everyone can loot and then am I right a barrel or sack of wheat is instanced just for me?

Been getting a fair amount of disconnects every 10 minutes or so this week. Is that fairly normal right now? I figure its just the high server load.

Depends platform & server. I have PS4 & EU server, 2 evenings (4h & 3h) no problems, only small lag due to playerbase. But otherwise none problems.

I can't believe I like this mmo so much. The PC beta did nothing for me and I laughed about it going f2p. I quit wow during WOD and swore off current mmo trends.

It's a pain in the ass but why can't you guys just make characters at the same time, together, so that when you want to play with one another you'll always be in the same phase? Wouldn't that work? Because it is most certainly possible to do quests with a friend in a party. Not the main story quests mind you, but the quests out in the open world are entirely doable. I had a character on PC that I played primarily with my cousin and we were able to stick with each other.

Don't know if this ever got cleared up but there is an option under social to travel to player. Do that and you will always go to their phase or whatever, minus the starting area and solo dungeons.

Edit: nvm saw it got sorted. Sorry had an old tab loaded

How does that work? is it just people in your guild, or people in other guilds or is it another name for a server wide auction house?

Yes and no. At first you only buy/sell with your guild. You access this at the bank under Guild Store.

Your guild however can rent a Guild Trader in major towns and then others can go up to this vendor and access your Guilds Store like an auction house. It works really well on PC because a ton of "merchant" guilds popped up. They gold raffles to get money to bid on vendors, etc. Also they've become known for quality, etc.

Cool, I'll need to join a guild when I hit level 10 then

I'll...I'll confess something guys. I had the worst expectations for this game. The buzz around the PC launch was so negative and the concept seemed so flawed that I discouraged some of my friends who had a casual interest in the game back then by expressing my doubts.

Now I don't know in much detail how it was back at launch, but right now, outside of the infuriating issues behind actually getting to play the game, I have to admit that I've been having a lot of fun playing the game.

It just doesn't feel like an MMO, both in good and bad ways. Unlike in other MMOs, and I've played plenty, I have felt no pressure of speeding through the content to level as fast as possible to get to the "real" game, I could spend an entire evening exploring or talking to NPCs and reading lore books and not leveling a single level without feeling I wasted my time by not maximizing XP/Hour or farming something.

In the bad ways though, I don't know how much of a community or how strong it will be in the long run, without things like text chat. Between that and phasing and whatnot it seems like getting to know people in the game will be hard. In other MMOs it was easy to know who's who and who's good at this and who's good at that and who's an asshole and who isn't. People had reputations and you could know about them even if you hadn't run into them personally. I don't see how such a sense of community will exist outside of pockets of people scattered across different out of game websites.

So decided to get this, I'm enjoying it but I kinda with I could play it alone. If I try and sneak around everyone else just barges in and kills everyone. It's a lot more fun when I'm not around real players. Everyone else just plays like an mmo running around smashing everything, while I play it like an elder scrolls game. I also wish the bag worked on a weight system instead of having x amounts of slots. Now items that used to weigh like .01 take up large amounts of your bag, I guess the plus side is you can carry more armor and weapons this way.

Yeah, but try playing that spider cave in daggerfall by yourself. Took 5 tries with 4 of us. No way you can solo that. Shit was rough, but alot of fun.

Thank god for this game's art direction, because you could totally fool me into thinking this is a screenshot from 2005.

Playing and loving the game btw

LOL, I would not go that far. It is not a technical marvel, but it is quite a step up from games like Oblivion. But even that was 2006. At any rate, I love the look, and yes, most of it is due to the art. Which makes the game quite attractive on the whole.

Its an MMO that doesn't let you group except for dungeons.

My wife and i have been trying to figure out why we can't see one another in the group and i've come to find out that its due to ESO being a glorified single player game. The phase you are in depends on quests and randomness. If you are in different phases you might as well be playing different games.

I was already really disappointed in this game but now i am properly pissed.

We just wanted to level up together.

Just select her in the Group menu and select travel to player (or whatever it's called). It will put you in the same phase. I've been leveling up with two friends since the start.

PS4 user here. How do I mute specific people without having to disable communication completely? I've tried block via psn but I can still hear them.

Didn't see an answer to my earlier question: in public dungeons there are chests which everyone can loot and then am I right a barrel or sack of wheat is instanced just for me?

The loot doesn't seem to be instanced and sometimes it does. I dont know how it works, its weird. I saw a chest, another guy looted it, and it was empty for me after the person looted it. But other times, I would see someone else loot something and then, it would still be there for me to loot also. So the answer is like, a yes and no.

Beside all the server issues...

Can this game be played in shorter sessions? .

Yes, with so many differentactivities to do, you can do something in as little as a few seconds, and hop off. For example: You could start a research before heading to work and have it done by the time you get back. You could craft a few pieces. You can steal a few things and sell them for some cash and then head out. Some quest are very short, like literally, go to the other side of town, talk to person, done.

Any tips? Keep accidentally stealing stuff instead of talking to people then the guards attack me.

I see many others having this same issue and thus why so many people be dying in town. Just like all other bethesda games, you cant just rush into talking to them. You have to carefully aim the cursor at them and see what it is your cursor is on before hitting the confirm button. It may be getting some used to, but it will save you a lot of hassle.

Been getting a fair amount of disconnects every 10 minutes or so this week. Is that fairly normal right now? I figure its just the high server load.

Yup, just about everyone is getting these disconnects, even on the official forums, community members and devs alike are talking about this.
Because they decided to cancel the open beta, they could have ran into these issues and would of have weeks to solve them before launch.

we now have to pay the price because of someones decision not to go through with the open beta.

I bet the devs are pulling crunchtime trying to solve these issues because of someone high's up dumb decision to skip on the beta.

I so agree with you
I have had a quest which required me to keep the critters alive
the others kept killing them

I just do not like MMO's
nor multiplayer only and had to turn off chat
do not like cursing and when a guy needed to use the facilities...

An open beta would have been the same cluster they're currently dealing with, and that might have impacted sales. Given their track record with betas, they probably did the smart thing (if not the right thing).
