Man, Im starting to really hate this, as some people call it, "floaty combat".

I thought the combat was more like tera, where if I physically see the weapon connect with something, it gets damaged. If if the weapons doesnt connect, it doesn't take damage.

You can be standing CLEARLY outside their attack range and still get hit and vise versa.

I was under the impression that if i stand of out the weapon's reach, I wouldnt get hit, that is not the case here. Can't dodge that at all. I thought I could be moving around the battle and jumping and dodging attacks, but it doesnt do anything as I still get hit so i might as well just be standing still like in games like FF14.

This is what makes the combat feels, "floaty" to me. It aint active combat at all like the devs said it is. At least to me it feels that way.

Although my daggers are doing the stabbing animation, im standing several feet away, and my daggers arent making contact at all to the enemy and they're somehow taking damage, shit looks and feels weird.

it makes me mad because i can't predict when I will and wont get hit at the distance they're standing at so i can't form defensive tactics and strategies when im within melee range because the attack range is unpredictable. So im using my bow a lot more than melee weapons.

Is anyone else experiencing this or is that just lag on my part???
I honestly only experience that when trying to run away, as long as I don't take damage when I step out the red zone and don't take damage, I just shrug it off. It does get annoying

Fuck me man... Just tried to improve a weapon at 80%, could have used my last thing to make it 100% but I'm cheap

It failed and lost the sword in the process

I heard somewhere that you can port to another factions dungeons if you have a friend there, anyone know how? My highest lvl. Character is in the dominion, and I'm wanting to run a dungeon sometime with y'all.

I've finally saved up enough coin to buy the Midnight Beauty from the stables, but now I'm having a hard time parting with the money, more so that I'm used to walking everywhere and I'm kind of okay with it.

Conflicted.

Money issues??? Read below

Nope, that takes too long.

Way of the thief

Watch an learn young grasshoppa

See when your stealing, there's certain things we're looking for to steal. And it's NOT armor and weapons. That stuff is a waste of inventory space. We must be wiser than that.

If all it takes to get money is to just get weapons and armor and break them down, and sell the materials, then why did I mention stealing specifically and not dungeon grinding for items???

Now your getting it young grasshoppa!!!

When your in a environment where there is containers to steal from, there's unique items called "treasure" that can be in them. This is what we are after. These items are high in value and can only be sold to a specific vendor for a high price!
These are examples of treasure items.

kAIQl1t.png

Notice the Value: 30 and 100 gold. Now you see how quickly you can obtain a couple grand. Good good young one. Your catching on well.

Now you may ask, who do you sell the treasure items to???

ah, excellent question young one!!

You see, there is a dark place, a place where only the ones on the dark side know of. The Outlaw Refuge.
214F2uF.png

These refuges are usually located in major cities and can be identified by their unique map icon.

Once there, you speak with the ledger to sell your stolen items too.

Now, for a word of wisdom, young one.
The ledger will only purchase a number of items from you every 24 hours, so be wise as to what you sell to the ledger!!! Make each sell count!
y2FuNCs.png

You will not be able to sell many items to the ledger at first, but sell enough and become more skilled in the way of the thief and more options will be open to you, young one.

Now, run along and make your master proud by becoming a great theif that I can be proud of!!!

Happened to me tonight. Was easily 10 arm lengths away and the guy swung at me and hit me. The combat is super floaty. I am kind of regretting buying it but honestly, I need something to hold me over through summer so I'll plow through it. I think my problem is I have been spoiled to shit on Souls and Bloodborne combat. What can you do?

Yeah, I've already made up my mind, I'm getting it.

Thanks, this is actually how I made the 40k after you posted that. I've been thieving all weekend!

40k on one weekend?! Are you serious? Guess I have to take that approach too... I'm still nowhere near 10k to get at least a basic mount.

Same thing happened to me when I played WoW, it's what it is with MMOs the combat in these games is super floaty. It relies more on stats than reflexes.

The combat isn't great and it never has been in any elder scrolls games.

There are a lot of melee abilities too that dont need you to be right next to the enemy to connect, ones with a 5m range.

If there wasn't this sort of grace distance for melee attacks then melee classes would be almost unplayable in PvP especially. Since the targetting isn't locked on and is just aimed if you made it rely solely on aiming and range most people would miss and be wasting countless attacks.

Anyone up for a Fungal Grotto and Banishing Cells run after the maintenance is done?

Not a bad idea and might be what I have to do. How do I transfer items to a different character?
Your stored items at the bank are accessible to all the other character you have. Items stored in the bank are account wide and not character tied.

My group has run all three starting 4 man dungeons. Wow so much fun! I really enjoyed them all but liked the aesthetic of fungal grotto the best.

I'm finding myself paranoid about investing in the wrong skills, wearing the wrong armor, etc. In a single player elder scrolls, I would just experiment and do my thing. But in this one, I feel like other people are relying on me to "play it correctly."

Can anyone recommend a good wiki or guide for this game? I'm a low level Nightblade btw.

There are some good threads here about building a Nightblade: http://tamrielfoundry.com/forum/classes/nightblade-class/

Also, you can always respec (either skills, attributes or both) down the line. I'm not really worrying about it too much until I get to the Champion system.

My Ethernet cable picked a lovely time to crap out it couldn't have held on through the 55 GB+ download and that doesn't include the day one patch right?

when are we going to form a party to take over cyrodiil?

Nah, Ima pass on the PVP stuff.

Yea your right about that, but I still don't like it.

I think Tera action combat is the most non-mmo like and does it really well. It feels more like a online beat em up. I like the combat of that game.............but thats about all I like about it personally.

I also put 1 skill point in the Legerdemain skill line that allows you to fence 110 pieces of stolen items per day instead of the standard 50. That definitely helped speed things up, and if you're worried about wasting the skill point you can always respec, it costs coin, but it's cheaper when you've got less skills points.

I would love to, but the queues for PVP seem outrageous...

does anyone know what the collectibles are for?

are they just to sell, b/c I can't use them or even store them in my bank.

Collectibles like the pets, etc? EDIT: n/m, I was thinking of "Collections".. Check out this thread: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/176576/xbox-one-how-to-use-collectibles

Just got this game, enjoying it so far, haven't played much. The starting areas are probably different, I figured, but are there any that are undeniably better than others? I started as Ebonheart Pact, and I'm worried I'm getting a bit of a raw deal with relatively uninteresting quests and stuff.

It is a fun game, but the quests themselves... Blergh.

I don't know. I'm DC. I just turned 39 in my first playthrough, and side quests and most of the main/mage/fighter quests, with a few exceptions, have been pretty bad.

Is there a set time when you can't get loot from group dungeons after you've cleared it, or can I do it multiple times in a row?

With this little tip, you can get that 40k in a day or two:

Make multiple characters
Each with the trafficker perk
Deposit money in personal bank

It takes a while though having to steal with 8 characters, it gets real grindy.

I don't know what they are there for so I just sell them.

Yo real talk, this game has some damn good side quests. Side Quest be better than most game's entire story mode.

Did a quest that had a nice plot twist that played me for the fool. Had me doing the dirty work by tricking me into thinking I was doing something else.

Is it better to hold off on the guild quests until much higher level? I seem to remember someone saying that here.

I could just do world quests and stuff.
