The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Mod Discussion and News [Creation Kit released]

Is SKSE compatible with 1.4.20 that they just released in the beta channel?

edit: and can someone remind me which files are related to Skyboost so I can remove them when I update?

Exe has changed, so there will need to be a new version of SKSE. The two Skyboost files that need to be removed are dinput8.dll and SkyBoost.asi

Where do I find this shield?

Directly posting the link to this one because the guy's avatar is a little nsfw. I got the image from the same forum that the Tera armor is

How do you add the beta patch to the steam copy of the game?

I tried looking at all steam setting and didn't find anything regarding beta patches.

Settings > Beta Participation > Skyrim Beta

Then restart Steam. If you've set Skyrim to automatically update, you should receive the update as soon as you restart.

So gaf, I need your help, I'm almost to the point where I've modded the game to my satisfaction except for one crucial point : vanity. In Morrowind and Oblivion you could hold the POV button to rotate the camera while moving and I really, really need something like that because in these games I just wanna look at my character all the damn time. Animcam won't do it for me though because I need to be able to let go of the button for a second to make a turn or something.

Haven't found anything like that yet, has anyone ?

I'm really gonna need the new Script Dragon to come out, it's been nearly two days now and I would like to play without turning off my Auto Level mod. :/

What I'd still like to see is an ENB configuration that adds all the nice postprocessing effects and whatnot, but maintains the game's original color palette.

Alright, I'm starting over as a Mage. Is there any mods I should use to make the game more fun? Like rebalancing the spells?

Ditto. I'm staying away from most of these mods because they change the overall style of the game's visuals, and I'm a big fan of the way the game looks already. I don't want it to look any different, just better. The only texture mods I've gotten so far are the ones that keep the exact same look as the original textures, just in higher resolution (like Whiterun).

Anyone found a mod that tracks your achievement progress? The ones like "pick 50 pockets" and "clear 50 dungeons", etc? I'd love to see how close I am to getting them.

The best thing that I have done for my Skyrim experience has been to just delete everything, redownload the game from Steam and drastically cut back on the mods that I was using. No more ENB, no out of place armour\weapon reskins etc. It looks far more consistent, and I went from hovering around 25fps in towns to staying >40 all the time.

I much prefer using the "Realistic lighting without post-processing" mod to the FXAA injectors and ENB presets. Plus, unlike ENB, it doesn't reduce my fps by 30-50% or fuck up the colour saturation too much.

I'm not fan of anything OTT or lore unfriendly either like overly skimpy/out of place armor and weapons, but I have to admit than Confident man's "Natural" ENB settings are pretty good if you can manage them though, specially for nights and interiors.

EDIT- Btw, does anyone know of any mod to remove the (IMO) awful enchanted weapon's glowing effects? They're kind of ruining it for me when my sword glows in a purple tone.

They definitely had them for Oblivion and Morrowind.

I love the replacer mods which actually have special effects on them, like the sword is covered in ice, or fire, or sparks. Looks much better.

I hope once the CK comes out that kind of stuff comes out too.

CK coming out beginning in January......

They mentioned something that if it's not January (and they certainly are planning on releasing it this month) then it would be not soon after. But with 2 beta patches knocked out, it seems like we are at the doorstep now.

Hey guys i noticed my game on PC has a very low sound output... is there a patch or mod that can fix this? I tryed everything via in game but cant make it happen!
Thanks!

The second 1.4 beta patch is supposed to help out. Personally, it seems to have worked but not like it should. I don't know if anyone else even cares but the audio bug is one of the more annoying things that needs to be sorted.

I downloaded some armors for their appearance, but is there a way to give them better stats and bonuses?

Let's see i need some advice regarding a possible .ini tweak.

Satisfied with how the game looks when the character is at ground level. However, in panoramic view the lack of detail of distants objects and terrain is quite apparent. I wanted to ilustrate this with a picture but i couldn't find it at the moment of this post.

So is there a way to get an increased level of detail in both textures and geometry withouth touching the ugrid command? Ugrid its very demanding and tends to mess up not only performance but stability also.

Checking it out now.

BETA PATCH 3 NOTES

Update 1/30: A third beta update (1.4.21) is now available on Steam. The update features one new change:

Fixed bug related to hitching between cell boundaries.

THANK GOD

I knew the game had a stutter after that first or second beta update.

Not sure what it does.

My exe says 1.4.21 so doesn't seem like anything major.

edit: thanks Liquid.

CKKKKKK!! Where are you?

I don't think there's anything you can really do without buffing up Ugrids other than the enhanced distant terrain mod.
That's too bad. But anyway here's what im talking about. Sometimes the game has the more amazing graphics ever seen, oter times we get this:

screenshot8bypiw.jpg

The ground close to the mountains looks atrocious.

Bumping the ugrids up to 7 really isn't a big hit on performance and it's perfectly stable. Assuming you're not struggling to run the game as it is the increase in quality is well worth it.

A ConfidenceMan that doesn't isnpire much confidence, since your game crashes like a test dummy :)

Has anyone tried ugrids 7 and completed the game withouth much crashes?

I'll try for the next play through since changing ugrids messes with the saves.

Have you tried this mod?

Makes distant terrain look a bit better without a performance hit.
Thanks for the sugestion, but reading the comments it says it fucks up the snow some what. What's your experience with this?

Edit: Also i don't have a texture folder in data, so i just drop that in the data folder it doesn't over write anything and then i delete the texture folder to uninstall it? No need for any mod manager or scripting program?

has there been an update to the game in the last couple of hours? My SKSE says it no longer works with the version i am using. Worked this morning.

Snow seems to look fine to me, and yea just drop it into your data folder.

I have Ugrids locked to 9 and have completed the MQ almost twice, the game runs smooth on Ultra, no frequent crashes or anything even if I mess with Nvidia iNspector and go crazy with the AA etc... but that's my system of course I have a IntelCore i5 2500k no OC, 4GB of RAM and a GTX 570 using W7 HP 32. If you have a similar system you should be totally ok buffing the Ugrids up to 9.
