Free pass from who? It got mixed reviews.
Let me say if that game was made by the Sonic Team, for example, it would have been slatted for its various flaws, bugs, and issues
It wasn't a well-made game imo.

So far I feel like TEW2 is a more consistent game than TEW, but has lost a bit of that games character. The fact its so easily comparable to Silent Hill and TLoU is a tad disappointing.
I agree theyre both weaker than RE7. My thoughts after beating TEW were that it was a shame that Mikami and Capcom hadnt stayed together, because Resident Evil could have benefitted from the strength of vision Mikami had whereas Mikami could really have benefitted from the tighter design that RE is usually known for (6 notwithstanding). After RE7 though, it felt like Capcom had made a better RE game without Mikami than Mikami had made without Capcom

Dog I don't know what Evil Within threads you've been in, but there are generally at least 50% of the people trashing the game for those reasons. The reason Evil Within still got a generally positive reception vs a sonic team game is because despite some rough patches there were really exceptionally strong design, mechanics, and art that clearly came from the same well that RE4 was birthed from, and not some garbage Sonic game.
I find the exploration and and combat far more rewarding in this than RE7. I think it depends on what type of game you're looking for. The haunted house of RE7 or the action adventure horror of EW.
No PS4 Pro support at launch, no word that I've seen on a PS4 pro patch, but it's got a Xbox One X Enhanced logo on its Xbox game page. If Bethesda release a patch for the XOX version on 11/7 without having released one for PS4 Pro owners, then the shit is really going to hit the fan.

How about you just calm down and give Sonic the respect he's earned as an elder character in This Industry.
"The well that RE4 was birthed from" has never birthed anything as genuinely terrifying as a Sonic game. Mikami could learn a thing or 547 from Sonic Team about true horror.
So, like, back off.
Agreed but the combat is definitely a touch choppier in this. The mix of faster enemies but the same super-tight awkward aiming of the original TEW isn't a great mix. RE7's combat is great.
Haven't used the shotgun yet though, maybe that will help.

I'd love to talk to whoever at Tango thought speeding up the enemies was a way to improve the game.

so.... i bought the PREDATOR skill.... and it doesn't work at all, i'm kinda pissed off!
Did i miss something? How does it works? Cause the thing they said in the tutorial definitely doesn't work
What are you talking about?! Only Sonic Team game I know of that got more criticism about technical issues than EW1 is Sonic 2006, deservingly so as it was way more of a disaster with no "but the gameplay is actually good" to save it!Let me say if that game was made by the Sonic Team, for example, it would have been slatted for its various flaws, bugs, and issues

Are you on PC? Nightmare difficulty? It didn't work me. I actually restarted my game because of it.
Does anyone know how to get under the auto body repair shop? You get a transmission saying there's some stuff down there but I can't figure it out.
It's this part on the left side of the map

It makes sense when you consider they added a bullet time mechanic, but you also have to unlock it.
Skill trees were a mistake, they're nothing but trash.
It really fells like I played a different game to some people in this thread

Jesus i didn't even see the bullet time upgrade. I'm all about stealth.
I actually disagree re the trees in general. If they were designed better they'd be fine.
Skill trees should be ways to enhance your character, not unlock basic or essential abilities. If the TEW2 team observed that there would have been no problem. Eg the stealth movement speed one is great, as is the bottle-defence one. Not essential but enhance you.

Anybody know how many statues there are in chapter 3, btw? I've foundso far.3
edit: Gah, sorry, got one more question. Bought the "Push Kick" skill as per advice in this thread. How do I stun the enemies though, now that bottles seem nerfed? Do I shoot em in the knee? Use the crossbow?
PRO and XBOX ONE X support is confirmed by Bethesda. They're working on a patch.

Without going through tons of posts I had one question:
How could I claim my pre order DLC item?
I got it from Amazon in an email, I claimed said code via PSN to download, and I am now in Chapter 3 with nothing? Or at least nothing pertinent saying I accessed this content?
Is it too late to access it now?
It gives you the stuff automatically when you leave the first house in Union, it flashes up a message so you can't really miss it if it's installed properly

I will say this though, the villain in this one seems a lot more interesting than Ruvik, who was just your generic supernatural villain with a hood and creepy face.

About the only useful thing for bottles is as an anti-grab once you have that skill. They do jack all for diverting attention and trying to setup that stun combo.

If you're not comfy with stealthing a lot, lower the difficulty.
It's so crazy seeing people only on Chapter 3 make bold negative statements about the game when they are only about 10% to 20% into it. Give it a chance to breath and see where it takes you.
I'd like to really emphasize that the second half is much better than the first, because it "feels" more like the first game, it's still a little neutered though.
It's kinda like a reverse of the first game.
Sorry for the bump, mainly curious on how to stun enemies to unleash the kicking.
I haven't finished the second half but so far It is 100% a reverse of the first game. The beginning is more "escape the zombie apocalypse" shootbang. As the game progresses it seems to funnel into more and more linear psychological horror setpieces.
I think that works for the most part, but one big problem is that as the game funnels in, you start to miss some of the freedom you had earlier.
If you have the burst pistol, then you have the DLC. Check your different pistols.
I can confirm Survivor is much closer to action-RE than survival horror-RE in terms of ammo distribution. For the first three hours I was scrounging. Now I'm an arsenal.
The thing is, this general abundance of ammo means I have a lot more options than "stealth, stealth kill, if it whiffs then run away and try again." If a Nightmare playthrough is just an extension of how it felt in the early game on Survivor, then despite the massive decrease in difficulty on Survivor compared to the first game, I'm still glad I chose this difficulty level.
I feel like the two options here aren't "easy or challenging"; instead, the options are "fun or tedious."
Is there any way to swap the camera between shoulders?
Also, half the time I am in a bush, I can't see anything due to the bush obscuring the camera, and the only way to see anything is to move myself out of a bush. Is there some technique to using vegetation cover?

I don't feel like reading the entire thread. Just one question. Do I have to play the first one before the 2nd? Thanks.
I'm playing on Nightmare so I don't have the ammo reserves you do but I still do all of the non-stealth stuff you describe. The difference for me, though, is I have to be very tactical in each encounter. There is almost no situation where I can just say "screw it" and start freely unloading clips into enemies. I have to constantly consider which CC options are the best for the current enemy group given my ammo reserves. It's pretty cool IMO.

So you seriously can't disarm traps in this game?
