The Final Bosman Show

I don't laugh out loud at work very often, but the battle of the bands made me do so several times. Really great piece, nicely wrapping up the segments and with some hilarious analogies as well.

Larry's cameo and the BotB winner were hilarious.

Kyle is great because he's candid and even-keel. Lots of stories are blown out of proportion in the media he gives straight answers/opinions while never forgetting that we are just talking about video games.

The Gabe part was hilarious.

Surprised by the universal acclaim. Thought the guy stopped being funny several episodes ago. To each their own I guess.

I don't think Kyle is always funny. I don't watch his show just for the laughs. I agree that sometimes his humor can be off. And not every episode is great (there are a couple dull ones). But I've enjoyed the majority of his episodes, and generally just enjoy his commentary.

This episode to me was hilarious. But yeah, to each his/her own. Comedy is such a fickle genre.

Funny episode, not his best but still funny.

Ok I have some issues with this episode, maybe because of my english (or maybe I didn't got some of the references?) I don't get the "Sony act like the the bad guys" is this because of their joke on Xbox One game resolutions? reading forum and what Sony is doing sound like they opposite side or at least seems like trying of that but dunno maybe I'm missing this. also Nintendo (the winner of current gen) are the underdogs? how? where they were full of themselves (every Reggie Wii U statement ever) and made many mistakes and don't really admit them.

I know this is Kyle point of view but just don't make sense seeing how the companies actually acting so far.

Sony seems like the most likely company to win this generation, and everyone is counting Nintendo out (i.e. the underdog in this scenario). In a lot of cheesy-ass American films, this is a common trope. Kyle is playing on that. Mighty Duck is the perfect example that jumps to mind.

Speaking super generally, the idea is that its very common in movies, shows, etc, that the protagonist + team ("the good guys") are the ones that initially seem unlikely to "win" or come out on top. They have to overcome adversity yadda yadda etc. They are generally placed against a powerful foe or team ("the bad guys") that seemingly have no or few weaknesses, and would be expected to win if not for the story demanding that they don't. Think Mighty Ducks

so this based on movies logic and not the real stuff going on.

Thanks for clearing that to me guys.

Bosman and his cohorts are absurdly talented. What a layered production. Gametrailers better be paying this guy accordingly because he is w/o a doubt the only reason I pay attention to their website. I don't think I'm alone.

I agree with ya!

Awesome, awesome episode. Nice pay off for those that watched every episode. Keep it up Kyle!

Absolutely. I go on Gamtrailers once a week to watch Bosman. Sometimes Pop Fiction too but they rarely come out and seem to be running low on myths.

Think about Rocky, Karate Kid etc etc.. the hero is usually the one with the less fancy training and backing, even though it manages to overcome those unfavorable odds.

Awesome episode, his show is the sole reason i religiously visit Gametrailers every Wednesday. It's the only VG show that i can say that i enjoy in this sea of VG shows with people giving long monologues about their opinions of VG, like sessler or annoyed gamer.

As an anecdote, i as laughing a lot while watching it due to all the little references here and there, and after the unexpected winner, my wife ended up coming to see what was i watching that was so funny.

Didn't care for this episode very much. The Battle of the Bands stuff was funny as a 1-2 minute epilogue for each episode. Stretched out to 10-12 minutes it feels pretty tiresome and self-indulgent. I feel like I got cheated out of a "real" episode of Bosman Show.

Yeah, this is the reason why I think it's important to have Kyle Bosman around. I mean, I don't find him funny all the time and some of the points he make in his episodes aren't that unique or interesting.
But he's not basing his whole show around being pissed, taking sides or overreacting to things while screaming. He's not acting like a shilling, pretentious games journalist OR an outraged NeoGAF member. It's a very refreshing concept in this day and age.
