The Final Bosman Show

the point of this thread is not to drive traffic to other GT content, it's to talk about the Final Bosman show

don't clutter up this thread just because you think other shows deserve "a shot"

Hence my point of having a general GT thread, like the Giant Bomb one.

It's the same people doing similar content, it's not like i want to push their views.
I just enjoy it more if there is more people to discuss the stuff i watch.

i only watch bosman, bonus round and sometimes pach attack. the latter two usually get a new thread for each episode so i just come here to check up on the bosman.

if there are enough people watching other GT stuff to warrant a GB-esque thread then it might be ok.

I agree. Make another thread for the other gt shows and leave this thread for the bosman stuff.

Probably the best idea. Then if the other thread takes off, discussion of final bosman will naturally find a home either here or there anyway so may as well just see what happens.

Heh, I gave them a cheat code to unlock everything.

They haven't used it yet but they considered it when they were having problems with the first boss fight.

Just noticed that the Android app hasn't been updated for a change. It's usually up when someone posts it, but first 15 wasn't and I just thought that would be classed as separate. This one isn't up either.

I love the Final Bosman Show, really missing the old background music, I doesn't seem like it will be coming back though due to the takeover

Kyle just said in the last video that it'll be another month till they are in the new studio, but he can't wait. So he's doing Final Bosman On the Road, the first of which is above. He's going on vacation next week, but there will be another Final Bosman On the Road the following Wednesday, July 30

A lot of the sound assets have changed since the take over, I understand that the production quality is lowered due to not being in their new home. Having said this, I'm pretty sure Viacom owned the sound library that was used through GT and their current production issues are more than just short term i.e. time and equipment, they have lost some of their sound too (it was mentioned in GT Time, however i can't remember which one so I can't reference it)

Great episode. Sucks that so much of their production vale is lost at the moment, but Kyle's criticism is as good as ever.

A week with no Bosman :(

Very good episode. I'm almost certain to end up buying AC:Unity... but I'm not playing their stupid game.
By stupid game I mean the slot machine thing, not the game itself, which is probably stupid too but hey.

Oh I thought you were talking about the show in general not coming back. My apologies. Yeah you're probably right on that. At least they still have that opening jingle, but whether or not the sound will be carried over won't be known till they're back at full production. Still, I'd agree that it's probably in Viacom's hands, which is a bummer since I liked that background music

Seems weird that something as simple as keeping their sound library intact hasn't been a concern at Defy.

Why would it be? As a company, they probably subscribe to their own sound library already so they get to use that one. Also, from what I hear, extreme music is the most expensive production music going... It does seem to be the best though.

Almost thought this episode was going to mention Sting in WWE 2k15. Hey guys, we haven't even got a screenshot to show you yet, but pls pre-order for THE STINGER... please...

They seemingly bought GT with the intent to keep a lot of the shows running, so making sure that the quality of the shows - which includes recognizable music and sound - stay intact should be a concern of theirs.

And while Extreme Music might be the most expensive, I can't imagine the price is so high as to be of any major concern to Defy. But maybe I'm wrong and it's not just extreme in name but also in price, who knows.

I get that, but we are talking 6 figures annually and they are buying a division of Viacom that wasn't making them money. Viacom did have a deal with them to help them get artists, so it's likely they got a discount if it wasn't just free.

It does suck, but they want to make it profitable so corners are going to be cut, much like with the loss of staff and moving to a building that Defy already owns.

great ep, the slot thing is definitely one of the crummiest tactics i've seen so far. i gave it a spin a while ago and immediately knew the initial "prize" was a constant.

any time i have wanted to get in on a pre-order bonus i just do it on amazon and cancel the order

Yeah, that slot thing is a bit iffy, and I'm surprised I hadn't heard of it until now. It completely flew under my radar. Technically the guaranteed prize of the free spin is not dissimilar to just getting the same item directly from pre-ordering, but it does tap into gambling psychology. It's doubtful that this thing had the best intentions behind it.

Ugh wow that AC pre-order tactic is the worst I've ever seen.

I might have to skip the game then, that's terrible.

To me, is so complicated and obnoxious, it actually has the opposite effect.
I don't want to go to their shitty website every week to spin the wheel, so i won't even bother preordering.

Didn't even know about the slot thing but I don't care about AC so that's probably why lol.
Love how he is still slightly changing the disclaimer at the start of every episode.

I feel like the free spin thing might actually be illegal, if it's really set to give the same item 100 percent of the time.

Usually in any sort of random contest that requires money to enter (buy a game and get entered to win), there has to be a way to enter without putting money in or it's legally considered gambling. That's why you'll see contests saying, "no purchase necessary" and offering people the opportunity to mail in a postcard or something for a free entry.

If pre-ordering something with money gives you a random chance to win something, and all free entries to that contest are rigged not to win, that sounds like an illegal setup to me.

Now maybe it's legit, and you actually could win something, and they just decided that the "lose" condition was to give out that same weapon every time, but it seems shady.

I think that was what Finalman was talking about at the 10:45 mark. You can send in for a free game piece like you can for McDonald's Monopoly and other such sweepstakes and so on.

As threads are here on GAF, I probably wouldn't have known Finalman was back without subscribing, the threads are too active. So imagine my surprise when I decide to just randomly check GameTrailers and see that an official episode is up. I thought Finalman was, like, not allowed to bring his show back until a certain time, but now that I see he's back on the attack, I can finally start breathing again, his is the scrutiny on game industry issues that I need. Thread subscribed, see you all July 30th.

That Assassin's Creed preorder system is absolutely bonkers. I envy Kyle's amazing gambling luck.

Ha, definitely. I keep about five active threads subscribed, and I visit the subscribed threads page more than the Gaming Discussion root. Another useful thing (at least if you don't post much) is the "Your posts" section you can find in the menu in the upper right corner.

Guys, I just won a hooked impaler, I'm so lucky! -_-

Thought there was a new Bosman video out.

Why you little

Does he not know all those 'HD remakes' he mentioned were called 'HD Remaster'? TLoU didn't take it from films, they took it from an entire generation of Sony calling their rereleases remasters.

Beyond that, when developers submit the final game to the first party, it is a 'gold master', those games actually have new masters, they were remastered.

But isn't the new Ratchet & Clank also being called a Remaster? Seems like it's become the new 'HD' to throw on the end of somethings title, which is damned unfortunate because I think your explanation of what an actual "remaster" is was spot on.

Sony haven't confirmed its title, they've referred to it as a 're-imagining' multiple times. I very much doubt it'll have a Remastered subtitle.

Pretty meh episode. I think ND is really proud of their GAME, so proud I think they want people who may not be into games because they think they are nothing more than that Tekken 7 trailer to take notice.

Never liked the narrative that some developers feel shackled by their medium. I think it is the opposite. They want to challenge others as to what their medium is capable of doing.
