The Final Bosman Show

Aw yeah! Team Huber!

ozqgd8zd.gif

so looking forward to that stream!

That's awesome that they used this in the stream and gave a gaf shout out.

;) I think the next stakes are gonna be pretty high, kyle is going to want to make huber pay for this and huber is probably going to try to match that. We as gaf should probably try to think of some nice stakes for them. I think just finishing outlast would be too boring (still fun though and I would def. still watch) but we need something new for both....

maybe something like this (I hate those guys though, way too forced enthusiastic):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBATyDTfgSE

however, a great punishment ;) We need to find something like this related to gaming...

impractical jokers is a lot of fun, too bad they have one episode every century, and half the times it's a clip show.

havn't seen anything else from them, just this video, and aside from the guy being punished, the others are a little overly enthusiastic. But I'll check out more, maybe they'll grow on me ;) any suggestions?

As for the stakes next time, maybe it would be fun if the loser would have to wear a certain horrible shirt for every video in one month.

I'm thinking of something like this:

or maybe something horrid like this:

As for suggestions about IJ, there's a ton on clips on Youtube alone, just some random ones i'd say.

Didn't like today's episode. It was all over the place, didn't really understand what he was trying to get at.

Summer Lessons is weird, but he's okay with it because it's just about being a perv. He likes Destiny because it's just about being a cool space soldier. Alternatively, he doesn't like NES Ninja Turtles because it doesn't make you feel like a Ninja Turtle. He doesn't like Dragon's Dogma because what should have made him feel like a badass warrior fighting a cyclops was really just whittling down a monster's HP from behind a rock.

Succinctly, he wants video games to be more about 'being' whatever you're supposed to be in that game, instead of doing videogamey things with a Ninja Turtles/Fantasy/whatever coat of paint.

Loved it. And dammit Bosman, considering what you were given to work with, you didn't do a bad job at E3. Hell, if I did it, everything I said would have been dripping with sarcasm.

lol, I did not know about this Summer lesson game. Surprised it didn't make a bigger splash considering how the current blogosphere likes to jump on this kind of stuff

I'd like to imagine people are mature enough to ignore this kinda stuff. I mean, I would never touch the game, but I know what market it's for and it's not inherently evil.

Nah, it's just not gotten enough publicity yet for people to pretend to be mad about it.

I don't think Dragon's Dogma was really the greatest example for that though, that seemed more like a case of him doing it wrong.

That games where you want to experience what it's like to virtually 'be' another identity can be hampered by the traditional implementation of challenge, mechanics and AI that are inherent in most modern videogame design. Can you imagine in Lord of the Rings (film or book) if Legolas defeated a Mumakil by hiding behind a rock, getting the beast stuck in an AI loop and cheesing it with arrows for 45 minutes? His argument is that such actions in videogames destroy the suspension of disbelief that you are role playing that identity.

A perv simulator like Summer Lesson removes such artificial impediments and lets you feel free to experience what it's like to be a perv in a school girls bedroom staring at her from all angles!

Wait, Kyle's a NINTENDO FANBOY?!?!?!!?!? How can Gametrailers in good conscience allow somebody with such a pervasive conflict of interest to speak in front of their cameras?!?! Trust gone.

the outrage will come closer to release i think.

The only weird thing it's that it has gotten such a public stage to be announced, and that is made by the Tekken guy.
It's not like there aren't a bazillion Hentai games or even BRAZZERS videos with similar themes or "fantasies" already, but i think the shitstorm has yet to hit on this one.

This doesn't sound like much of a game, either, more like an application (the google earth of peeping toms).

Kind of interesting episode nonetheless, even though i feel Bosman went a bit astray to make a simple point.

Also Dragon's Dogma is awesome Kyle, don't blame the game because you lacked the courage to face that cyclops head on! You could've done it! ;)

I doubt it will release outside of Japan so that will limit the amount of upsettedness.

That's true. As long this stuff stays in Japan people usually don't care.

Honestly, I've been thinking about it a little and this might actually work as learning application. Imagine that you get actual lessons from the girl and in order to progress you're perving you have to solve math and chemistry tests first. I mean, of course would it still be a dumb pervy game, but an interactive virtual teacher is kind of a cool idea.

You've got it a little mixed up. You're the teacher.

Monster Hunter is the obnoxious, tedious brother of Dragon's Dogma.

Maybe to some but Monster Hunter is of the same repetition of a fighting game. Every move and skill is a calculated series of inputs against an AI with the exact same concepts of invincibility frames, blocking frames, hit boxes and positioning that has fans of Street Fighter and Soul Calibur coming back for more.

Monster Hunter is a refined system, designed to have to return over and over with different rule sets (Quest types and varieties) and stipulations of play styles (Weapon choice and armour skill). The concept of being 'a hunter' lies entirely in the hunt itself. Talking to NPCs and crafting serves only to enhance the hunt and hunting is only to advance yourself to new feats of hunting. The plot is of no concern and is a vague goal setting mechanic designed to help new players work towards something.

Dragons Dogma on the other hand is more about dealing with terrible AI, game glitches, travelling unreasonable distances while fighting nuance 'minor' monsters, being swamped in mediocre voice acting WOLVES HUNT IN PACKS WOLVES HUNT IN PACKS ITS WEAK TO FIRE WOLVES HUNT IN PACKS. Dragon's Dogma seems more interested in having you talk to NPCs and follow the Saturday Morning cartoon they've establish in their derivative fantasy setting. Sure Dragon's Dogma has great battles with large enemies but there's so much crud between you and the actual game you want to play why bother when Monster Hunter allows you to load up the game and be in a fight with a wyvren in less than 2 minutes?

This is why Kyle stopped playing. This is why Monster Hunter is a timeless classic and a genre defining game and Dragon's Dogma is a copy cat and a flash in the pan.

Dragon's Dogma is awesome. You take quests and it actually is a quest to get there. Have to kill a gryphon in a lighthouse? Well first you have to travel there through the wilds and the valley facing forest dwelling wolves, goblins and orcs. Make sure to get there fast as the night is dark and full of terrors. Then climb the lighthouse to the top helping out the soldiers who are already there and finally have a fight against it at the top of the lighthouse, jumping on it's back and stabling at it's neck to kill it. (some quest details may be slightly wrong as it's been forever since I beat it).

Dragon's Dogma is great, it's biggest short comings are technical limitations and repetitive VA (but the pawns aren't quite human. Doesn't explain the stupid shop guy "They're masterworks all, you can't go wrong!").

I hate Monster Hunter but not for lack of trying to get into it.

Yep. Monster Hunter is the no-bullshit version of hunting monsters. That's why it was my Game of the Year 2013.

My take is that Kyle did not necessarily dislike Dragon's Dogma. He was at the Water God's Temple where he cheesed the cyclops if I'm correct, so he at least put some time into the game. What I believe he is saying here is that he stopped playing because he did the same to to the cyclops as Tim did to Slash in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Kyle did not feel that Tim beat Slash so now he feels like a Tim not beating the cyclops. He Tim'd Dragon's Dogma and now he's done.
