The Final Bosman Show

Will totally back Phillip Dollarfield screws the Princess. Hopefully there's a tier that includes a Phillip Dollarfield Polo t-shirt

Man this episode was on point. So true about stretch goals making the Shenmue kickstarter seem less successful than it is, and how they're making it feel like the "complete" game is being held hostage. And the Screw You Factor. Love that he was able to put words on all this. Love it

I don't really feel like Shenmue III is an example of holding game content hostage for more money, this is a project that is going to be limited in scope by its budget. But at the same time, I think they should've asked for 5 million up front if that is what it took for its minimum requirement.

Suzuki first and foremost wanted to finish the story. He will be able to do this with the initial goal.

Doesn't the Red Ash Kickstarter also have the screw you factor since Capcom cancelled Megaman Legends 3?
Not really as ML2 ended on a cliffhanger, Megaman Legends fans are still not getting a proper sequel. It's the same reason Shenmue fans have been begging for Shenmue 3 (
Screw you Lan Di
), not just a game like Shenmue.

Now if Inafune had managed to get the rights to the cancelled game from Capcom's cold dead hands, then that would be a whole different kettle of fish.

I haven't even watched the KS video and this killed me. Amazing. Time to update the wiki!

The Shenmue 3 kickstarter, to me, has always felt it's more about reviving the Shenmue series rather than making a single game, give the hype train that had run out of juice long ago a little bit of fuel so that they can get to the fuel station and continue delivering the story.

Even if that kickstarter only hit the funding goal plus a few minor extra stretch goals, as long as people liked whatever they could get into the game, as long as it turned a semi-decent profit, people would still get the continuation they wanted in spite of a less impressive 3rd title.

The moment Shenmue 4 gets announced, they can live with a minor bit of disappointment

It also has screw you Inafune, which does not help much

Also, the only time I recall a company having one big succesful kickstarter, then an even bigger 2nd project, is inXile with Wasteland 2 and Torment: Tides of Numenera. I think Fargo was unintentionally making a really smart decision by starting with Wasteland 2, even if it was just a case of wanting to revive an old game of his. Some people might have backed it thinking "this will be the Fallout 3 I wanted", and people do feel strongly about the first 2 Fallouts. Still not as powerful of a namedrop as Planescape: Torment is. He saved the big guns for later.

Then with Bard's Tale IV, although decently funded, is merely hitting the funding goal and first few stretch goals. The name recognition and appeal of that style of RPG isn't as strong. It probably wouldn't get funded at all had Fargo decided that Bard's Tale 4 is not confirmed to release on PC, but console, or mobile.

Then Inafune goes from "guys, guys, I'm going to resurrect MEGAMAN" to then have a campaign with "oh, I want a new game in the style of this niche subseries whose gameplay many of you probably have never seen and might not instantly get the appeal. Oh you wanted a continuation to the story and setting of the original? Uuuufff, can't help you there"

Inafune emptied the barrels on his legacy, brand recognition and "rebel spirit" the first time.

That initial goal still seems like too much of a bare minimum though. Especially when he was pushing for five million or more right out of the gate. I think it would've been smarter to put the initial goal at five million for this one. I do think the hype from the E3 Sony announcement could've pushed it to that goal line much faster to that goal than what it is moving at now.

I like that they tried something new, but I found it pretty distracting--I had to rewatch several parts since I wasn't able to focus on what Kyle was saying. The whole thing felt a little unfocused too.

It reminded me a bit of what 1Up used to do, but minus the production values. It could work as a spinoff idea, but I hope it doesn't take over more Final Bosman's.

true.. I was going to post this.. it felt very off, its a nice idea for something like MU nights, because of the unfocused nature of that segment, but in TFB it needs to be more focused about the points Kyle tries to make..

besides that, I really felt Kyle was too distracted to think deeply about any idea..

Tbh, the idea they had didn't really seem to me like something they intended on sticking with or even becoming a regular thing, it just felt like some silly idea Kyle had and felt like trying out.

What I found most distracting was when the waiter brought out the second plates of food, and I realised what I had previously thought was their lunches, was apparently just a massive fucking starter.

I don't know.. I kind of liked it, but there was something that just didn't quite click for me.. Like it felt distracting because I felt they were distracted when walking... But not enough distracted to be nice or funny to watch on it's own. But once they sat down and the conversation was natural, it was good stuff imo.

Though I really like them trying new things and experimenting on stuff even if it means sometimes it works better than others, the concept was worth a go even though it didn't quite achieve perhaps everything it could have.

Edit: also a bit too much technical issues, especially with the sound.

If he ever discusses Mirror's Edge or at least the review for Mirror's Edge should be done in this format.

Also, now I want calzone.

And a Lambo.

None of them so much as looked at that Lamborghini as they passed it. I guess that's LA for you. So much Italy in this episode.

Likewise, as you may imagine, I was also a bit distracted by all the periphery stuff rather than focusing on what Kyle was saying. Also, the delayed reaction from when someone started talking and when Ian would be able to extend the mic their way is a bit jarring. Nice idea, though! Shaking things up!

What? No, Kyle just got his meal early.

Fair enough for Kyles, but the other 2 had an entire plate of salad! What they already had in front if them was a lunches worth of food before they had a massive burger sandwich thing and a calzone.

Although it has also made me want a calzone.

I enjoyed this piece of content and I like the concept and I would enjoy this type of Real Talk as its own show, but yeah this didn't fill my need for a Final Bosman. You owe me one Kyle

They should've use sony's action cam, those cameras have way better sound and, probably, they wouldn't have nedeed an external mic.

I couldn't pay attention to the actual content of what was being discussed in today's episode. The action of every day life and using Go Pro's for the 1st time in this show was just too entertaining!

Shoutout to the tag-team garbage truck action!
