Tonight is Jay Leno's last "Tonight Show."

Jimmy Fallon will take over the Tonight Show on Monday, February 17, 2014.

One summer in my pre-teens I spent everyday staying up to four in the morning watching both shows and then the repeats. I actually thought Leno was funny then, but that sort of just stopped with time.

Maybe not entirely relevant but Craig Ferguson > All other late night talk show hosts

Ferguson is boring. Conan, Kimmel, and the very, very, very occasional Letterman are the acceptable choices.

I used to like Leno, but I lost quite a bit of respect for him after the Conan fiasco. That being said, I wouldn't mind if he hosted a car show.

About time. I like Jay the car guy, but I still can't get over him screwing Conan over so badly. Hopefully his leaving will stick this time. Fallon will do a great job.

How long after Fallon scares off the Leno audience until they try to boot out Fallon and bring back Jay?

It shouldn't be as rough for Fallon as it was for Conan. Leno will be off the airwaves completely, not vulturing Tonight Show viewers at an earlier time slot.

He didn't screw over Conan.

Leno was just as compromised as Conan was. They were both under contract, the difference was that Conan was allowed to exit his contract and negotiate a settlement out. While NBC refused to let Leno go, that's why they gave him a 10PM show too - they were scared he'd be poached by another network once he retired, because Leno was actually fired from his position the first time. And just like Conan, Leno also had a massive staff that needed a paycheck and healthcare benefits. It's not as one sided as the Coco fans made it out to be.

Also, Conan wanted the Tonight Show gig so bad he threatened NBC back in 2004 that he would leave for FOX or ABC if they did not promise it to him. So they did. That's why the announcement was made almost 5 years ahead of time.

It's show business, and it's a cruel, ruthless, spit you out business. The only real asshole in the whole debacle was NBC and Jeff Zucker, who was a colossal piece of shit.

I don't like Leno much, but I also don't understand why they keep firing him considering how successful he is.

And yeah, Ferguson's only one that's genuinely good. At least he interviews his guests like people. Fallon's constant nervousness makes me feel awkward, I thought he would be comfortable at the job by now, but nope. The Roots are wasted on him.

I don't really like him. I waited in line to be in his show's audience and the guests were Andy Dick and Craig's mom. Such a waste

Christ, wasn't that almost 9 years ago?! He's infinitely better now...

Well i remembered NBC wanted to push the tonight show 30 mins later, so Jay's show could gain more veiwers. Conan didn't want to compromise the integrity of the tonight show and left.
