I thought it was interesting that Wells rubbed the back of his neck when he grabbed the gun to shoot Stein, as if he was remembering grabbing the bullet from last episode because he is future Barry. It made me think the creators were definitely trying to throw some misdirection at us.

They had a closeup of it, too, as if it was really important, but, as others have said, I don't think Wells is future Barry because he's in another league intellectually.

Wells is Professor Zoom as it is following (I believe it is called) the Identity Crisis timeline fairly well from what I have read.

Also, Saving Barry's mom would not prevent him from becoming the flash... Zoom did that and it had something to do with altering Barry's character but, I can not remember the exact reason at this moment. I do know that Zoom was a future fan of the Flash and that's why he traveled back in time but, his computer and knowledge of the future is really the only thing that separates him intellectually from Barry.

What a fantastic episode. Far more interested in the Firestorm/Reverse Flash/time travel stuff when it comes to this show and this episode SLAYED.

Easily the best superhero show on TV right now. Arrow's been well and truly left in the dust by this.

Edit: Oh and Firestorm's effects are impressive. Night and day compared with other effects in the show (and other CW shows in general from my experience). He genuinely looks great lit up.

Did Cisco run Wells' DNA at the end and it turned up not a match, or did he just run both samples through the CCPD database and found that Barry matched? It wasn't clear whether he ended up running Wells' DNA or not.

The closeup was for another reason.

The ring.

The freakin' Flash ring, where Barry normally keeps his suit.

No one else noticed that?

He checked Wells' DNA.
I guess that throws the theory that Wells is future Barry out. The clues they are giving us make no sense. Likely deliberate misdirection with Wells rubbing his neck before grabbing the gun and having the Flash Ring. I mean he did kill people, but unless Future Wells is actually an alternate Barry who somehow became Reverse Flash, I can't see Wells being Future Flash.

Do we know if this plot thread will be resolved this season? It is really damn good.

I have a new theory.

Reverse-Flash/Wells killed Barry in the future and got bored/felt guilty. Took his ring, and went to the past. Killed his mom. Decided to try and mold Barry into an even more perfect enemy. Something like that.

It's actually sort of distracting how good-looking Wells is. Casting attractive actresses or having an Amell take their shirts off is sort of expected, but everytime there's a Wells closeup I have to go "wait...why?"

I'm sorry, but Iris and Barry have no chemistry and it's annoying that they eventually *have* to get together.

Unless the writers say "Fuck that" and Barry vibrates that Linda pussy like a champ.

I was saying this on my podcast yesterday

I don't know what it is with DC shows and their destined loved ones, but they end up having better chemistry with almost any other women on the show.

Jim and Barbara from gotham
Oliver and Laurel from Arrow
Now Barry and Iris.

That was somewhat disappointing.

1) Firestorm story doesn't have any satisfying advancement, despite a ton of time spent on it
2) While the characters don't have any idea that Barry was present at his mom's murder (as an adult) it's been telegraphed, so the reveal is pretty underwhelming
3) The romance stuff was OK, but does anyone watch primarily for this?

I think the next episode
picks up right where this one ends, picking up the time-travel stuff and Eiling hunting Firestorm. So this and the next episode are pretty much a two-parter in all but name.

Identity Crisis was a mystery story about the Justice League's dirty secrets. Are you thinking of Infinite Crisis? At the time of that, Professor Zoom was still dead. He was dead for around twenty real life years and was only resurrected during Blackest Night, though he appears earlier through time travel in Flash Rebirth.

Barry still became Flash in the normal timeline. His parents grew old together and had relatively normal lives. He didn't have any horrible childhood tragedy originally and was just a good person doing the right thing with the powers he was gifted.

The reason Professor Zoom went back in time to kill his mom in the comics was just to make Barry's life a living hell. Not enough to prevent himself from becoming the Flash but enough to majorly screw him up as well as poison the Speed Force the rest of Flash family used.

The stuff about him being a Flash fanboy is all correct though. He goes back in time to see the Flash but realises that in the Flash's time, he's a super villain and is driven mad from the revelation, which forces him into blaming the Flash and ensuring that he becomes the villain he finds out about.

Time travel is a cornucopia of disturbing concepts.

Clark and Lois had pretty good chemistry but I attribute that mostly to the actress. I hate the destined couplings. It takes all the flavor out of the other romantic relationships. Screw the purists and let people end up with someone different for a change.

Barry is a walking dildo

Clark and Lois did (assume talking Smallville, though Cain and Hatcher did as well), but Lois was to kind of fix the tanked Lana/Clark dynamic.

And Clark had better chemistry with Chloe than Lana!

Also, not that we need it, but The Flash had an impressive night in the ratings. Best same-night viewing since the Arrow crossover in Dec, and tied Agent Carter in the key demo figure. Though watched by like a million less people!

Wow...today's episode is really good. We have the relationship angle with Barry and Linda (while Radioactive plays in the background for Iris). We have the Firestorm angle. We have Barry's mom investigation angle.

All great stuff! I hope Firestorm's gonna stick around longer.....or are they gonna spin off another hero series out of this?

Really enjoyed this episode. Even the relationship stuff was fun, seeing Iris get all jealous was cool. I actually enjoy this kind of soap operish stuff. Barry is killing it, both Iris and Linda are hot Ollie would be jealous.

I watched the first 3 episodes last night and I gotta say, I like it more than Arrow. Maybe its just because I can't stand the Arrow actor. His batman voice and straight face make me angry.
