I'm currently on Episode 5 and...wow, this show is fucking fantastic. The super speed effects are fucking ace (the way he moves during the slowdowns hngggggg), the tone is fucking ace, the acting doesn't take away from the show (which I think easily happens in shows/movies with this sort of premise). I'm loving it.
I was talking to a friend about the midseason finale and had an interesting thought as we talked it out. I'll spoiler tag it all just to be safe.
Just a thought.
So what if the Reverse Flash we saw in this episode was just a red herring by Wells? He had two motivations in that episode, 1) get the device from Mercury Labs and 2) his constant push for Barry to get faster and become better. So what if he used his future knowledge and technology to create a faux Reverse Flash to not only steal the device but challenge Barry? That would explain how both he and the Reverse Flash were in the same place at once yet he has the ring, suit, and talk like him.
Just a thought.
Would be interesting.
Especially if this Reverse Flash is vastly inferior to the real one and the shock of Barry when he thought he was finally strong enough to take him. Oh and I imagine a scene were the real one just destroys the fake one with one punch.

I just saw US viewer numbers reported on Wikipedia. Midseason finalle was 2nd most watched episode of S1, just little behind premiere [that's probably only live viewers].
CW and Flash production crew must be in ecstasy.
I wonder if they care if the majority of their line-up turned into DC shows.
Im still hoping for a Suicide Squad or League of Assassins miniseries.

I really enjoyed this midseason finale. Truly, I did. But something about it just didn't sit with me and I can't place a finger on it. First, it didn't get to me as much as the other finales I watched have, yet it did everything I expected. It's hard to explain...
Basically, every finale did what I wanted/expected, but there was always a little extra in there. Like maybe something I wasn't expecting, or something I was expecting done in a way that I wasn't. The Flash finale felt very...par for the course. That's not a bad thing mind you, but this is a show where I cannot seem to shake the unending feeling that at some point, some time, it will all go completely to hell. I don't know why, but I cannot shake that feeling.
Like, I'm glad we found out who/what the man in the yellow suit is (Reverse Flash/Wells). I'm glad we have confirmation Ronnie is alive (get that Firestorm hype train rolling). I'm happy that Barry finally told Iris his feelings, even though it means a shit ton of scenes with Eddie staring jealously at Iris and Barry's awkward-ass interactions (Radioactive, Radioactive). But...something's just not sitting well with me, and I can't place it.

The actress who plays iris should be fired immediately, good lord what shit acting. If slade killed her and lorel, arrow and flash would be so much better.

Seen all of season 2 so far. I'm finding it worse than season 1 so far. The entire mid seasonf finale...didn't care about any of it.
Fitz is the only interesting character, all the rest are where they were at the start of season 1 in terms of development.
Skye is where she started? Seriously bro?

Some roles have changed but the characters are still the same. Skye is an agent now, but still the same Skye etc. May hasn't even changed role.
Fitz dealing with his disability has been the only interesting thing all season.

Skye started out distrusting SHIELD's tactics and motives. She was naive about what could and should be done with villains. This has completely changed. This is true of most of the characters in the show.
You haven't enjoyed AoS and that's fine. In regards to character growth though, they've definitely made good progress.

Those characters and their dynamics are all quite different now. Like, do you need them to do complete 180s and be nothing like how they were (and I mean nothing) in order for you to admit that they're different? I mean, Ward fits that bill pretty well then.

He's too good a guy for that to believably happen. If it does happen, it has to be borne of tragedy and madness, not jealousy and douchebaggery.

I still believe it. Once he finds out Barry is the Flash, it'll compound onto his break up with Iris, who I guarantee is going to get far more distant now. Add that on top of the fact that he's alive because Reverse Flash decided to leave him like that (another mystery), my guess is he'll gain an inferiority complex. That'll drive him to find a source of power and use it to beat Flash and maybe try to "win" Iris back.
That's my guess.
