Barry Allen inventing Gideon is a bit odd to me given that he's a forensic scientist, and Eobard Thawne would've also had access to vastly more sophisticated technology in his own time.
Considering the reveal at the end I would think all of it was a lie. That grin it gave Wells is also probably a give away.

The static electricity thing was a bit of an ass-pull imo. I probably wouldn't have minded it if it were introduced earlier in the story.

Did Barry eat his Doritos?....
Baaarrrry, why did you eat my fries?
I bought them, and they were mine

Every single comic television villain gets better development than 99% of comic film villains. I find Slade, Kingpin, Merlyn, Whitehall, Reverse Flash, etc a hell of a lot more interesting than Zod or any villains in the MCU flicks (other than maybe Loki)
Short-form stories are just terrible for character development in general, especially action movies. There's just not enough time and not enough different situations to get a good grasp on people.

Eddie needs to get with Linda and just be done with Iris.

Linda is the superior girl on this show. Linda and Eddie would make gorgeous smart confident babies while being totally nice and confident and take nobody's shit cause they are mature-ass adults with normal, healthy emotions and shit.

Goddammit, CW. Why can't you see this!?

Absolutely not

Flash ages slower and his brain works faster. He could eventually have the time and intelligence to do it.

I know he ages slower but I have a hard time believing his ability to think faster carries over to an increase in intellectual capacity. Especially to the point where he can program an AI.

Yeah, I suppose that could be it. Even if Barry invented Gideon it seems like a serious oversight for Wells to not lock out others from that room.

Meh. Barry is not stupid, he was always smart. Programming is not a magical talent that you either have or do not. If you are smart, and dedicate time to it, you will do it.

Nothing magical about that.

Again, that's a bit hard to believe. But maybe Barry creates Gideon in a future where AI technology is already advanced.

In the future, they have a Build-A-Bear Workshop equivalent, but for AI companions. :P

Pretty much this.

No, super speed reading is an established Flash power.

What I'm saying is that reading something doesn't grant you an increased intellectual capacity. I can read a whole lot about quantum physics but that doesn't mean I understand any of it to the point where I can come up with new ideas and theories.

Creating a sophisticated AI is - at the moment - exceptionally difficult, but I could accept it if Barry did it decades (or more) into the future during a time when most of the groundwork was already done for him (this is presumably what he'd read up on).

But then again why would Eobard want that (primitive and archaic - by his standards) AI?

Which he can do because he lives for a very long time. Are you purposely being dense or something? His powers give him the time and knowledge to make it happen, assuming she wasn't just lying for Wells.

Don't start being a dick head about it. I'm pretty sure you've done that before in this thread.

It's funny how this episode was far far above pretty much all other episodes because it didn't have to deal with a new "meta of the week".
Like,it was an actually focused episode.

I swear I heard Gideon say the word Justice before she got cut off.

She said it in the preview comic so it is possible.

Also, maybe I don't remember last week's well enough, but I thought Everyman couldn't adapt to someone's powers? How was he able to vibrate his hand like Wells?

Did his hand actually vibrate? I remember him lifting it up but it didn't seem like it was vibrating to me.

another fantastic episode as usual. show's been straight quality except for the episodes with harrison's former assistant who looked like harry potter.

the way iris found out barry was the flash was lame as fuck though, not happy about that. plus i'd rather she know AFTER she was with barry rather than before. now it will just make her eventual attraction to him feel kind of unearned imo.

On the Gideon thing... In the comics Wally spent a decent amount of time chilling in the future. Maybe Barry spends some time there too with access to all the cool technology?

Green Arrow :O

Hawkgirl?? O:

Wow, that's a good catch! Green Arrow! Ooh! So I wonder if those rumors are true that Arrow will eventually be called Green Arrow.

Hawkgirl too =).

Edit:
I swear I heard Gideon say the word Justice before she got cut off.

She did or was about to? I need to rewatch it.
When Barry asked her who he was/how did she know him, she said he's Barry Allen, Founding Member of the...and then Barry cut her off.

That was an amazing episode. Carpet bombs dropping left and right. Everyone knows everything and it's all on for the last few episodes.

I just love how they both managed to keep it intense but then have Cisco dropping lines like "Is this Inception or Dreamscape?" and "I'm never ever gonna sleep ever again but yeah, I'm okay."

The last flashback with Wells talking to Barry, oh man that is some villainous shit.

Great episode and hype at next weeks trailer
Grodd!
Eobard/Wells is such a great villain and nice to see Iris finally find out who the Flash is despite how hokey the revelation was.

I can't believe how great the first season has been. Unbelievably historic IMO.

Yeah, I was sceptical about how good The Flash would be with tv show time and budget constraints when it was first announce but it's been great apart from a couple of episodes.

I'm glad Iris now knows about Barry.

Wonder why RF took Eddie instead of someone more important to Barry like his dad or Iris.

Well's killed it as RF this episode. Just when you think the gangs got it all together RF shows that he was toying with them the whole time.

Very good episode. I liked how they showed the different reactions people had to Barry being in a coma via flashbacks. The Reverse Flash is once again on a completely different level than Flash and his team. I can't wait for the endgame to this.

I am worried about the second season though

since introduced a ton of major characters. Given Barry more abilities than knows what to do with.

Shall be a fun challenge to write around

I definitely am worrying about it falling prey to the OC syndrome, where they burn through so many storylines in S1 that they run out of steam in Seasons 2 and 3.

But we still have the introduction of the Reverse-Flash to look forward to! Can't wait to meet that guy and see how Barry first encounters him.
