The Flash S3 |OT| It was me, Barry.

They need to stop stretching out these mystery villains out for half-seasons, or worse yet in Arrow's case, full seasons. The lack of immediacy drags these shows way fucking down.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
I liked the finale.

Also I'm a bit more optimistic that we might get an extended run with no Barry (and by extended I mean like until mid-season at best). They caught a lot of shit for hanging on to Flashpoint for all of one episode, and I don't think they'll make that mistake again.

At the very least, I don't think Barry will be back before episode 2 or 3.

The only problem with thinking that Barry is going to be gone for any extended amount of time is the fact that Grant is still the star of the show. His contract most likely stipulates a certain number of episodes and, hey, they could just not use him, but they have to pay him for it all the same.

Best case scenario is that we check in with Barry in the speedforce as the B plot for two or three episodes and the main universe has to go on without him. I just don't see them waiting until episode 9 to get back fully during the crossover.

Arrow this season actually didn't take the full season to reveal Prometheus' identity. Flash on the other hand....

We've known the identity of all of Arrow's villains at the latest by episode 15 of the season.

There is no way they'd spend the majority of next season without Barry.

A couple episodes, maybe.

Maybe they are holding off Flash for the first few episodes of next season so people won't get confused by the Justice League movie version of the Flash.

This finale is not so good.

I can't believe what I'm watching...

Some of the lines are just wow!

I'm going to rule from the big bang until....

We know who was
gonna swap spots.

Look at me...

I shouldn't have come here...

You want to be Caitlin again...

We know who was coming back come one.

You kill me you become me...

I will never be you...

To end with
a gun shot wow.

Cisco let me go...

Speed force throws a temper tantrum.

Bye Feli um I mean Barry...

Barry it's your mother no its the Speedforce.

No son...no father...It isn't fair boo hoo

That ending so disappointing the best part was the music.

Any one else think that killer frost killing zombie black flash was hella overpowered move.

That thing got rid of eobard thane and flash couldn't even get rid of him. But Killer frost ez.

There is some precedent for this, like Captain Cold fucking up evil-world Flash in the comics. I'm sure he'll be back in one piece soon enough. Overall i did think it was slightly dumb.

Ice is one of the strongest abilities one can have when fighting any Speedster. The only thing I don't know is how fast Frost's projectiles are along with Swagtain Cold's projectiles. Their projectiles must be shooting out at near light speeds!

comic Cold outsmarted Quick and has cold field that gives him an chance against speedsters. It not likes he stand there and shot the cold gun and Quick run right through it

Not sure about New 52 but i think it applied comic cold had a cold that slows down speedsters and gives him a chance. No idea why they don't do the same

The only good thing to come out of this mess will be seeing Wally in that Red Suit for at least one episode next season.

We also know the main villain won't be a speedster for once.

That was a terrible finale. And the ending especially was supremely stupid and out of nowhere. Made even stupider because you know it is something that will be resolved by Episode 2...just like Flashpoint was.

I can't believe how off the rails this season went. It wasn't Arrow S3/4 bad, but still a huge drop from the prior two seasons.

I wish next year that The Flash would go back to being a fun serial with good plotting instead of moping around with asspull plot twists.

The best episode this season was last week's, the one containing Captain Cold hamming it up, a heist, and a giant Mutant Shark. You know, the fun stuff that was a big part of what made S1 of Flash so good.

I don't know how for the other 22 weeks they got it so wrong.

Maybe HR used the splintered piece of Savitar to find their hidden hideout and swapped places with Iris. Not saying it makes any sense but we've long since abandoned reason in this show.

Oh my fucking god. This theory sounded stupid even when I typed it. Can't believe they went with it -_-

Yeah it's due to his Cold Field that allows him a fighting chance against any being more powerful than him. It's really useful against Speedsters since they love to blitz their opponents. I'm not sure if it applies to Rebirth though.

I think, for the show, it's implied that Speedster's are really predictable so that's why many meta's are able to fight evenly with them. I don't think many metas are able to see somebody moving at Mach *whatever unless the explosion gave them enhanced perception :/

Huh just realised they can use this as an excuse for more relationship drama by giving iris a boyfriend or have badly written drama about something to do with Barry being gone.

It's time to introduce Earth-1 Hunter Zolomon. The real Zoom! He's not a Speedster! *he manipulates his own time stream.

They could, but I don't see it. They made such an emphasis on the "Iris West-Allen" stuff that it'd be weird for her to move on to someone else.

So is this supposed to be the "Crisis" that 2024 Barry disappeared into?

Like all things in the show universe, this part came early too I guess

It's pretty lame compared to stopping a multiverse destroying machine

Technically that crisis and Future Flash stopped existing at the end of S1. Also 10 years too early.q

Low-key I really appreciated Barry jumping into the suit and Savitar saying "it is written". The one evil Barry line that sold his struggle for existence.

It really baffles me that Flashpoint was utilized so poorly in this show. It feels like the writers thought of Flashpoint as a mechanism for creating Evil Barry and nothing more. Seriously, ONE episode for Flashpoint. ONE.

How I would have done it:

  • Half of the season is Flashpoint.
  • The first half involves Wally and Barry trying to take down The Rival, while chasing after Alchemy who Barry thinks can help them fix the timeline while keeping his mom alive. (The theme of denial and refusal to accept his failures)
  • The Rival doesn't seems to hate either of them, but constantly shows up at the worst moments to hurt Barry's plans and prevent him from catching Alchemy .
  • They defeat the Rival and he reveals he never cared about any rivalry and that he was only doing the job he was paid to do.
  • They defeat Alchemy but the Stone can't save Barry's mom. Barry struggles to accept this.
  • At the end, Barry goes back in time to stop himself from saving his mom. But he does this begrudgingly at the insistence of Team Flash, and tells him mom "I'll find a way to save you" before he allows her to be killed.
  • The final scene of midseason finale is Barry back in the new timeline face to face with Wells in a wheelchair.

  • Its actually Wells and not Eobard. Wells is on Team Barry.
  • A young Reverse Flash shows up and is eager to meet Barry, his personal hero, for the first time. Barry, still raging from allowing his mother to be taken away again, beats the shit out of him, not realizing this Eobard hasn't done anything wrong yet. Thus begins the cycle of hate.
  • From here, most of the Savitar stuff plays out like it did. All of it kind of bled together in mediocrity so I can't really remember what I would cut and what I would keep. However Julian wouldn't be Alchemy, just Wells lab assistant or something.
  • Savitar is revealed to be
Cisco from the Flashpoint universe. Cisco was paying the Rival to stall Barry from getting to Alchemy. Before Barry fixed the timeline, Cisco's Vibe powers awoke and he escaped the Flashpoint timeline into the real timeline. Because of his Vibe powers Cisco was able to give people their Flashpoint powers.
The purpose of this and the threat of killing Iris was to shove Barry's hypocrisy in his face. Mention the fact that Barry killed people in Earth-2 and Flashpoint without regard, but he wouldn't kill them in Earth-1. Mention the fact that millions died as a result of Barry ending the Flashpoint timeline. Basically a more measured version of this speech. Highlight Barry's infinite failures and supreme selfishness when it comes to saving people he cares about, but disregard for people he doesn't care about. Bring up how Barry's selfishness allowed Dante to die and caused Caitlyn to become Killer Frost. Mention how Barry has done more to hurt those he loves than to help them.
  • Savitar then willingly allows himself to be taken by the Black Flash as wanted to prevent more timeline destruction, not create it.
  • The Speedforce arrives to Barry in the form of his mother. They have a long heart to heart in which Barry finally comes to accept that his mother must die and he must move past it. Barry accepts his imprisonment in the speedforce as punishment for his time travel genocide.

I really just want any other thing than time remnant bullshit

That's because halfway through the season they threw it out the window. It writes itself: Wally not only has to surpass Barry Allen, but also has to defeat him.
That honestly would've been a great set up for next season.

Even by CW standards that'd make no sense. Unless there's a significant time jump.

Ah, damn. Got me excited for a second. Thanks for the clarification!

Man, after the amazing last episode, this was another weak finale. I hope they actually get rid off Barry for at least half of the season, otherwise they are missing on a good pportunity to shake things.

They managed to get filler in the finale with pizza face Barry. Should've had Wally save Barry and not Iris with a gun.

Hopefully they switch up the team dynamics next season.

Even if the audience found out Prometheus' identity early, it still took the cast a while to catch up. Too long. And even when they did, he still just disappeared and avoided saying or doing anything for episodes at a time. Like they still had to go to work together.

Flash has done 3 seasons now of "who is the mystery speedster?" And they dragged it out this season like seven episodes past when it was brazenly obvious.

This has been a horribly paced season of Flash

Huh?

But Pied Piper killed one with sound earlier.

Flashpoint was completely unnecessary. They never should've done it in the first place since they really had nothing worthwhile to shake up. It came off as more of a "LOL it was a big comic event! Who cares if it makes any sense in the show!!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!"

That and every final stage boss that Barry has to face is another speedster was old two seasons in.

I immediately checked outlets to see if there was a 'Grant Gustin exits The Flash' article, and there wasn't. So this whole sacrificing himself to the speed force thing was probably pointless. They won't time skip more than six months. Doing Wally as the new Flash is a great plot that they will 100% drop after the first episode just like Flashpoint. Either go full force with these iconic plots or don't even do them.
They won't, but they really should: it would benefit three of the shows to have a period where the good guys make a real difference. So we come back in the world after 2-3 years where Supergirl, Arrow and Kid Flash have basically created peace. Use this period to establish Titans so when Arrow and Flash are back in the fall, you hear stuff about the Titans but don't see them until the show starts.

The only thing that can stop the Black Flash is cold? They literally just made that shit up on the spot but had Killer Frost say it as if it was established fact. GTFO with that.
That is somewhat consistent since the whole reason the cold gun was built in the first place was to kill Barry if he went evil.

That was a time wraith.

That's the same thing tho. Just a less stupid zombie thing.

DeVoe. The Thinker.

Oh please God no. Savitar told them what to do to stop Thinker. I can't take a year of people here yelling at clouds for them to use that device, calling it predictable when they try and use it, then saying the show is dog shit when it doesn't work.

If it is the same thing then what's the point in creating it in the first place? Also, the cold would make sense if it slowed the Black Flash down but to outright destroy it? Nope.

I'm glad next season won't be a speedster and hopefully they tone down on the time travel fukkery.

I fully expect the Speed Force to let Barry out of prison on good behavior, but hopefully it leads to some shifting dynamics for the core group. Caitlin seemingly keeping her powers, without going fully evil can be a good thing.

The show can still sell emotional moments well. I felt more about the fate of the characters than I did on the Supergirl finale Monday.

Nice to see Iris bust her gun like her dad.

Still would be nice to see them return to season 1 feeling going forward.

Audience finds out in E15 of Arrow, cast finds out in E16 of Arrow. Such long time.

That's about the same as S2 of flash.

It doesn't matter that much on Arrow because it is the first time they do it. In season 1 and 2 they keep the villain himself secret until episode 9, and then really quickly reveal his identity. In 3 and 4 they don't do a reveal.

They completely wasted the flashpoint plot
They could had an entire season revolving around it
They couldn't do that and have crossovers.
They shouldn't have done that in the first place considering how you could have easily removed that and have Savitar crones come from alternate earths

I really enjoyed this finale, better than last season I think. I was nearly sobbing at that ending, I wonder for how long Barry will be gone for. I wonder how they are going to set up Killer Frost for the next season, as well as Wally.
I really liked the Savitar chase with the Flashes, I wish it was a bit longer though. Overall, I wasn't dissappointed and am eagerly awaiting for the next season.
Arrow is next!
