As nice as that set looks, I think I'd prefer it all in a standard Blu-Ray case.
It's funny how we had loads of people complaining about not having a 3D release in the previous Blu-ray thread.
It came out last December and has been on home video since April lol
Cat's well out of the bag.
I was waiting for this. Didn't buy the previous as I heard they were doing this later in the year, so just like lotr and hobbit films I skipped the first release.
Standard def is lol worthy.I don't get it.
Keep in mind, our sources are still telling us that there may also be a Blu-ray 3D box set of the Star Wars prequel films as well, and well post more on that soon.
Spoiler, right on the cover.
Standard def is lol worthy.
C'mon man...you took that post as serious?
I'm happy as hell it's coming. I just bought it on iTunes to watch until the 3D Bluray came out.
get rekt SW. the franchise now sucks.

You're expecting some kind of logical answer?
I just wish iTunes or Amazon let you stream 3D movies. I'd be so all over that.
God damn it son of a bitch now they do a fucking commentary track (((
Can I watch this if I don't have a 3D TV?
seriously. after they cappedthe franchise is dead to me.solo

jj abrams is like rust. everything he touches turns to shit.
If it's on the 3D disc then no. It's possible to give a 2D option on the 3D disc, but Disney doesn't do it, ever.

Best part of the movie.. But OK.They finally gave him a worthy sendoff. He had like no arc in ROTJ and this was the best thing they could have did with him and it was emotionally resonate with the story
Why did he need a send off in this movie, though? I suppose he was meant to be the Obi-wan mentor figure in this one but he really was not a mentor at all. If he had to be in this movie and had to play a mentor-type role then they should have better developed his relationship with Rey. He could have been the father she never had and she could have been the daughter to replace his son. He should have hired her to work the falcon and died on j the next movie after better establishing their relationship.
Would this edition contain all the previous content PLUS additional stuff? Or do I need to buy the first release as well to get the older extra material?
Along with the theatrical release and audio commentary, which wasnt part of the original Blu-ray debut, the new set will also feature the classic bonus features from the discs released last spring.
GreatYes:
It's a shame Disney didn't release this right off the bat, but double dipping profits and all that. Regardless, without a UHD presentation on the market (which one would think is bound to come sooner or later), this is, by far, the definitive version The Force Awakens. The 3D video is fantastic; fans of the film, the Star Wars universe, or 3D in general owe it to themselves to experience it. The added supplements -- including the wonderful commentary track -- and attractive packaging make this one of the year's best releases, if not the best, and it earns my highest recommendation.

My copy arrived yesterday and the packaging is really nice.
Does anyone know yet if the 2D disc has the commentary track as well?
you there!
Did they add any more deleted scenes?
NEW! Deleted Scenes (1080p): In addition to the previously released deleted scenes (Finn and the Villager, Jakku Message, X-Wings Prepare for Lightspeed, Kylo Searches The Falcon, Snow Speeder Chase, and Finn Will Be Fine), the following have been included for this release: Leia & The Resistance (0:17), Unkar Plutt at Maz's Castle (0:50), and Tunnel Standoff (1:00).
Does anyone know yet if the 2D disc has the commentary track as well?
I can confirm that the commentary is only on the 2D disc.
Good! I have no interest in 3D, basically just the commentary track and beautiful box art
Ordered now, will have it tomorrow
Also - I find it kinda weird that they only had it on the 2D disc... Like, is the 3D effect to big on a bluray disc so another audio track couldn't fit?
I have just finished watching the 3D Blu-ray, and FWIW it was noticeably better than the cinema 3D presentation that I seen.
This isn't surprising to me as I have always thought 3D blu-ray was superior.
