Nah. Don't buy it. No team is bigger than the sport. It would survive, life would go on, other teams would climb the ranks.

The breakaway series they would invent could easily and instantly have cars 5 seconds a lap faster than f1 cars. The fact that f1 is the fastest race series is a huge pull for it and that would be gone, plus the fact that ferrari are by far the best supported team amongst fans. F1 needs ferrari.

If it's not called F1 it's not F1

You think people beside hardcore fans care how fast the cars are? It's the whole circus and the business platform traveling around it

Yep. I think people have built Ferarri into this mythical thing when in reality they're just a red car with a lot of fans. F1 would probably take a financial hit but it wouldn't kill the sport and the spot would be filled by an existing team or an upcoming one.

people will not care whatever it is called.
Formula Super 1, World Formula Zero, whatever.
They will care for the big and known teams.
If Ferrari, McL, and RBR were to form a breakaway series, F1 would be dead.

this was a reply to the Jerk

For the sake of argument,
if Ferrari left F1:
would it cause a loss of interest in F1? certainly
would it kill F1? hardly
but you could say the same to some degree or another about McL or RBR.

60+ year history, taking part in every season since the start of f1 = just a red car with a lot of fans?

Ok we get it, you dont like ferrari, but lets not be crazy.

It's not about not liking them, I just don't think history + fanbase makes them this untouchable force that MUST be in F1.

I'm not saying they're not important and it wouldn't impact the sport, just that people overreact about the consequences of them leaving.

Anyway, it's not happening so it's pointless to continue this.

They show mostly lower, totally unknown racing series. And whole lot of motocross.

Like the WRC :p I like them, they're the only motorsport dedicated channel I can get around here, and they broadcast a good amount of good racing leagues. A bit too much motocross maybe :p

2 years ago no body knew what RBR is.. which means teams can come and go easily.. I'm not saying Ferrari are not important, infact they're the most followed team and the most important team, but the Formula 1 brand is much bigger and much more established than Ferrari

Ouch.. I hope you didn't mean it in that way.. I'm hurt.. *cries*

A breakaway series is not an option anymore.. last time almost all the teams were in agreement, this time round most of the teams are with the cost cutting except Ferrari and Redbull. How is it gonna work?

We know that Toyota, Honda, Renault (the team), BMW, Bridgestone have all walked away from the sport because its expensive, and half of the current teams might have not joined/stayed if the cost cutting measures were not introduced. And above that, other manufacturers like Audi and Porche have excluded joining F1 mainly because of the high costs of the sport.. So can you tell me how can Ferrari afford to leave and have a new series? no one would join them

EDIT: Spanky-Max said it right. He said F1 doesn't need Ferrari, then the spanks came in.. would've been nice to see him fight Montezemolo all the way to the end. We might have had a different F1 today (I'm not saying better)

Redmond's Baby
Yup, DC, Button, Vettel and The Old One

meanwhile Pastrana almost turned car over and Norbert Haug in midlife crisis

Loved that bit.

Schumacher didn't do well at all in his first race. Vettel utterly destroyed his first opponent.

Great shot of DC trying to fit his balls into his race suit too. :D

(Edit - DClol)
