That Button/tie comment he made was hilarious. Such a likeable guy.

Another reason he's better than Lewis.

We really are blessed with some great characters in F1. Shame about the man running it all....

Sky F1 FAQ

Doesnt really say anything new apart from a few snippets

Ok, but is there anything else you can tell us?
The channel will also be broadcasting weekly magazine shows, in-depth interviews and archive action. So stay tuned.

And what will be shown on the Red Button service?
We're still working on that, but we can tell you that our interactive service will include on-board cameras and plenty of features designed to take F1 fans deeeper inside the sport.

It's just been confirmed that Peter Gethin has passed away at the age of 71 after a long illness. Gethin holds the honour of being the only man to ever win a GP without leading a lap.

RIP.

RIP Peter.

Just watched that Vettel interview. In a way it's frustrating that he's such a nice guy that you can't dislike him, but it's just so good for the sport. Next season should be amazing with the interviews. You can tell the drivers on the grid are a lot more friendly with each other, apart from the Massa/Hamilton thing.

Hey, hey. Massa and Hamilton made up in Brazil, they're buddies now.

Until the next incident, that is.

What exactly happened? I didn't see anything in the broadcast.

The pair, jointly awarded the tongue-in-cheek BBC "naughty boy" prize earlier this weekend, shared a hug after the season finale in Brazil.

"I'm going to make it up with him," said the McLaren driver before approaching Massa during the Ferrari driver's media appearance for Portuguese language reporters.

Those watching the embrace, in the context of the duo's spate of on and off-track run-ins, smiled and clapped.

"That was a really nice gesture," agreed Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali, according to Germany's Auto Motor und Sport.

Said Hamilton's boss Martin Whitmarsh: "It was not planned at all. Lewis had simply changed his mind and wanted to take a step forward.

"I think both of them are adults and wanted to just look ahead to the future," added the McLaren chief.

Massa is quoted by Brazil's Globo: "I never had anything against him, there has always been respect in all these years.

"After everything that happened this year, I found it very cool for him to come here to talk to me. I would not go there because I did nothing wrong."

You think Vettel's good for the sport? Having someone so dominating in anything is never good. Schumi blitzing it in the early 2000s didn't do much for F1, either. Hopefully it's a lot closer in 2012.

Unless you're talking about him being a good bloke as good for the sport, in which case I completely agree.

He's a great ambassador for the sport.

In that case, yes. I agree wholeheartedly. And from what I've seen of all the other drivers (including Webbsy) he's probably the best out of the whole field, regardless of driving skill.

Another cool fact about that 1971 race that gethin won: it was the highest average speed of a grand prix with 150.754mph all the way until 2003 when that record was broken by schumacher, again at monza :O

The old monza didnt have chicanes.

Happy to hear Massa/Hamilton made up. Was a stupid tiff to begin with.

Yep, that's what I meant. He's the best person to be at the front and center for the sport, hopefully the competition comes back for the championship next year.

There's also the Eagle Mk1, the only US built F1 car to win a race.

Yeah, that is a favourite of mine, too. Any of the early 60's cars, just before the wings, look great to me. I have always had a soft spot for the McLaren M2B though:

And the Maserati 250F

And the Ferrari 156

Possibly the greatest photoshop ever. Stolen mercilessly from autosport.

He's dominated one season. That's hardly comparable to Schumacher yet!

Oh, I know. But I thought he was saying that the domination that was seen this year was good for the sport in general, a la Schumi over a longer period. But because Acrid's completely useless at getting his point across (at the best of times) I misunderstood his point. It's been clarified now and we're all good now. Topic ovah.

We were all commenting on the interview at the award show, his character, I thought it was clear that it wouldn't be about the season dominance.
