Wow, dusty! No doubt it'll get somewhat cleaned though.

Judging by McLaren & Hamilton's demo it'll be PACKED, if they offer fair prices...

What year(s) are they? When I think of F1 cars, that's almost always how I picture them. Visually, still modern yet at their most simplistic. Almost all straight lines and the few curves are in just the right places.

Edit: Corrected the image tags for the new page... can't let those pictures fall by the wayside.

They need to paint the grass greener, like in Korea.

Should be from 96 or 97.

Cheers gents. My history with following F1 has been sporadic at best, but I'm making up for it now :)
Do work! I've been catching up on the '05 season, albeit slowly. I plan to go back further for the next season I watch.

Not exactly. I live in Chennai and it's cheaper for me to watch the Singapore Grand Prix — travel, accommodation, tickets all included. There are no general admission or walkabout zones for the first edition and I've heard rumours of spectator facilities being inadequate. Going by our past record I wouldn't doubt those for one second.

But you have a Grand Prix now and if the people in charge of bringing F1 to Greater Noida are serious about cementing India's place on the F1 calender, then those issues you've mentioned should be dealt with in time.

If things go well India should become a regular favourite with the F1 paddock and the fans. The passion for F1 is there as the viewing figures dwarf that of the UK, Spain, Germany and France. Yes, the size and population of the country are factors, but it's still very impressive for a country that's perceived to have no motorsport heritage.

I still don't get why the BBC were forced to cut the rights to F1 when you look at the figures it generates. I can't remember which race it was but one of them this year was in the 8 million viewers range.

They're woefully mismanaged.

Could only really be Monaco or the British GP. More likely the latter.

Nobody will agree with me, but hey, fuck Top Gear. Cut it and keep F1.

I agree wholeheartedly. Top Gear's become very hackneyed and predictable and they just seem to be treading old ground. The humour also seems very forced now and lacks the spontaneousness of the past series. They're all trying too hard and the show has become a parody of itself. It's still one of the better programmes on BBC Two, but I'd gladly sacrifice it for continued and full Formula One coverage on BBC One.

Ferrari have no issues with name changes.
A meeting of the Formula 1 Commission in Geneva on November 3 will vote on whether or not Team Lotus can become Caterham, and Renault can switch to Lotus, for 2012.

"We don't have an issue on that," said Domenicali. "But we want to clarify the fact that for the future we need to put certain rules in place in order to make sure that this is not becoming every two weeks a trade off position that some teams can use.

"We need to make sure that there is something that is relevant for the promoter. On one side, we think that for the benefit, to have two Lotuses can cause confusion, but we need to establish the rules to say, yes we can do it, or sorry that is not possible."

Caterham F1, Team Caterham, Caterham GP, Team 1 Malaysia Caterham. Take your pick.

Relating to gross restrooms, temporary seating, non-existent parking space and what have you. Basically the same deal as the Commonwealth Games or any other major sporting event that's not related to cricket that's been held over here.

The silver lining is that this track is one of Tilke's better efforts.

Man, that sounds bad and could hurt the reputation at this stage. What about the hotels in that area? Are they any good?

The track is an hour's drive from New Delhi. So, I'm guessing all the teams will be put up in the city. Hotels will not be a problem.

I wish the guy who writes F1 Slate wasn't such a blatant Alonso / Schumacher fanboy, would be much funnier.

Yeah, although he sorta needs some one to be the voice of reason & Alonso seems like a good fit.

I've never been to an F1 race but based on other motorsport events I've attended yes, it will be loud.

Incredibly loud. I haven't heard the V8s but the V10s were enough to make your vision blur. Even if you don't end up using them you should have a pair to be safe.

It's not as loud as people suggest. They are pretty loud for the first few laps, but once the cars spread out the noise isn't that bad. A decent pair of earphones will be fine.
