So not too much of a difference then! I'm sure the F1 engineers will match (and maybe go beyond) what we have now, even if it takes a few years.

Also speaking of memorable tracks, it's such a huge shame what happened to Hockenheimring.

It's such a shame it'll never go back to how it was pre-2001. :(

Not much left of that section where F1 cars would famously blast into the forest, sparks flying as the bargeboards made contact with the tarmac. :(

Brundle on Hamilton's mood
Hamilton's mood attracted a lot of attention over the weekend. He is only a few years older than my own racing son, and so from a fatherly and human perspective it makes me sad to see him so unhappy.

I don't know Hamilton well enough to fully understand what may be going on, but I have known and observed him for a number of years and he's clearly in an emotionally bad place.

I've heard the gossip about him splitting with his girlfriend, the pop singer Nicole Scherzinger, and we don't see his family close by any more as we very much did in the early years.

My reading was that Hamilton wanted to send a message to somebody about how unhappy he is at the moment, and so chose not to celebrate his excellent pole position in the normal manner.

Korea was the end of a run of five consecutive podiums for Button, Hamilton's team-mate.

Wonder who that could be.

When you figure out the gears and stuff you can absolutely go nuts on it.

Feels soooo good.
Sweet, I will give it a go tonight or tomorrow after work.

I am interested in the race next weekend. My sister in law is Indian. While she has no interest in sports, I wonder if she knows of the race next weekend.

wtf?

I think it is more this:
"It is like a striker having a non-scoring spell. It weighs on them heavily and then suddenly they score and keep on scoring. Lewis is one of the very best drivers out there."

I'm hoping they're lies, and given the source that's hopefully the case.

I'd be very disappointed if any of the F1 drivers were to join such a cult.

Heres some images of my little trip to Suzuka.

View from my seat, one of the best in the house, I am big fan of being as deep inside T1 as possible, because you see the high speed entry and exit, and usually you get to see 2-3-4. added bonus was the end of the DRS was on T1

Newey missed Korea round to work on the RB8
Adrian Newey, the technical boffin who has created title-winning cars for three teams and been a driving force behind Red Bull’s double-double — successive drivers’ and team titles — was hard at work on the other side of the planet designing the next world beater.

“Focus has to start moving towards next year and we’ve got less than four months to design and build a completely new car,” said team principal Christian Horner after German double champion Sebastian Vettel took his 10th win in 16 races this season.

“That’s why Adrian elected not to attend this race. He’s busy back in the UK focussed on our RB8 (car).”

Expecting something very special from Newey and his design team.

Will it be a evolution of the current design minus EBD or will be harking back to the RB5. Or could it be something revolutionary.

It can't be as bad as the MP4/18 can it. Newey is due a bad car after all of his recent success though.

Its hard to feel bad for someone who is making millions of dollars a year, is driving the fastest type of car in the world. And is a part of such an excelent team with such an amazing history. And is also dating one of the most beautiful girls in the world.
It's not about feeling sorry for him, it's wanting him back to his tenacious, ruthless, blisteringly quick self. We're missing out on the best of Lewis because of his current problems. I want him to make use of his rare talent, instead of wasting it.

I really hope he fails with the RB8.

Im starting to think the RB8 isnt going too well.
A few weeks back Newey was saying about amazing it is going to be even though he normally keeps quiet about his cars & not want to big them up too much before the season starts.
And now he has skipped a race to work on it?

Either its going to be something special, or its gonna be rubbish.
Personally, I hope its somewhere in between

People just need to give Hamilton some space. He's having a rough time, that's all.

He can still drive the fuck out of the car and he's not going to spiral further and further until he's found hanging in his hotel room.

The press hammering home "Sad Hammy" isn't doing anything good.

Also, I don't buy Horner's line here.

As if they didn't already start with the car ...

It's not cool to trivialize one driver when you could easily do that for the whole sport and other types of entertainment.

If Vettel broke his hand and had to drop out of a championship he was leading, then you would probably feel a bit bad for him, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Negotiating with Bernie... hahaha.

"At the same time, I must increase the awareness of motor sport so that people and citizens understand what we are doing. This would be an indirect way to convince the national government. Motor racing is not known here as much as it is in other developed countries."

Building a race track in the middle of nowhere sure helped with that.

According to local media, the cost for the race this year stands at £52 million - which includes a £35 million fee for hosting and television rights. The current deal with Formula One Management, which runs until 2016, includes a 10 per cent escalator for hosting rights over its duration.

With income from tickets estimated to be around £16 million, the venue is currently loss making

the person who agreed to this deal is an absolute cock end.

the Demon Headmaster to renegotiate for less money? ahuahuhauha... bye-bye, korea.

Ok, I am posting one from a different year too since it's now okay to do so.

It's really not surprising that we get so much activity in this thread.

Yeah, but who's going to believe that? I mean, come on, it's Red Bull with Adrian Newey. Nobody would believe that.

Except for Ferrari. Stefano probably read the interview and thought "We still got time! Sweet!".

pretty obvious he meant "we’ve got less than four months left to design and build a completely new car", as the designing of the next seasons car pretty much begins at the start of the active season for all teams

I totally agree with you, i used to love watching him race back in 08 and 07 against massa and raikonnen. But come on, i know he is a winner and hates to lose. But he has to stop and realize that he has it better than almost everyone on the grid. He had an amazing karting career, has been hailed as the next shumacher and got to debut in f1 in a freaking mclaren.

I dont hate the guy anymore, sure i dislike him but the thing that really irritates me is that in stead of focusing on the future and keeping his head up he is almost giving up. I thought winners would push through the good and bad times.

It took shumacher 5 years to become world champion again after his second world championship. We all know how long it took for button to get a championship and finally be at a top team.

He really is acting like an annoying spoiled brat who is acting all grumpy because things are not going his way. So you broke up so what, focus on the good things and try to overcome it all.

Oh fuck off. If you broke up with your girlfriend I'm sure you wouldn't be looking at the bright side of life and be a perky, happy person again.

He's a human, you know. The fact he has a fuckload of cash and drives in the best car in the world doesn't change that.

Jesus. I'd like to see you in the pub with a mate and call him a spoiled brat because he broke up with his missus.

Im sorry but lets look at it in a different way. Say you have a big project or deal and you have to work hard at it, if you dont it might be in danger. How will it help you to not get over it and focus on something else when you just broke up.

If my friend is at risk to blow his deal at work or what ever i would tell him to forget about the break up for a minute and focus on the things he still has that are worth keeping.

Im sorry but acting the way he did after qualy in the interview and after the race is not going to win him races. With that attitude he is not going to cut it.

Hamilton should just leave all the drama behind him, put his head up and just do what he does best. This really has been a season to forget for the guy

If I was tapping Nicole Schwejwojnrifhdsger, and she just dumped me, I think I would be suicidal.

He's had a shit season by his standards, no doubt, but I don't blame him one bit as his personal life clearly has been rocky for a few months now.

You have horrendously terrible double standards.

We really need some women in F1. Why the hell does it take so long? Put Scherzinger in the Mercedes and replace Britney with her.

There just simply aren't that many female race car drivers, and the ones that do exist either go into other forms of racing or just aren't competitive enough for F1.
