They force them to wear rain tires just to then make them run under the safety car until the road is dry.

Are they *required* to put wets on in that situation? I'm thinking that a driver who went straight off with inters and just took great care behind the safety car could have been in a fantastic position now.

Yep, D'Ambrosio just got a drive through for changing to inters when the SC was still out.

Wasn't there a really long one in the last few years? Not quite this long, but an extensive red flag meaning it was heavily delayed.

I presume that there's tracks where it just can't run much beyond the scheduled time, too. Since Canada runs a little early local time there's a lot more daylight available.
