I'm confused as to why vettel went with a two stop? Considering nearly everyone one around him was doing three stops and they had the pace. Poor strategy

Best race of the season so far, so much happened. Hamilton and Webber were awesome but Massa also delivered some good stuff, plus the battle with Alonso and Schumacher was entertaining. Pity Button couldn't hold on to third but awesome race and well done Lewis and Mark racings like men possessed.

he had to pit early for his first (or was it second?) stop because he had a flat spot (supposedly from his kers being on and off, fucking up brake balance)
if he had the stop later it should have worked out i think

the bet was just €20 (I don't have THAT much confidence in your curse) - 20 x 6,75.

Neither do I, but now I'm starting to believe it more and more. :lol

I would be worried if you decided to put a lot more money than that in on a hunch from some random internet stranger. Cheers though, that's still some nice winnings!

they had problems (KERS --> brake balance) and had to get him in earlier than expected for the second stop.

That's why he had such a long last stint - the reason he lost the race.

It has to be said - BBC's coverage of F1 is flawless. you Brits should be proud.

That's the truth right here. Though it helped that Eddie Jordan wasn't there today :)
All they need to do know is to broadcast the race on their international BBC HD Channel.

Awesome race, phenomenal race by Webber.

Major screw up again for Ferrari - also, they seem quite on pace on softer tyre, but much worse on harder compound.

I was apprehensive about Brundle and Coulthard doing the commentary together before the season started but it's been great so far, a bit of humour always helps. The rest of the coverage has been as good as ever.

Kovalainen ahead of Perez and Maldonado? Even taking into consideration the drive through, that's good times for lotus!

Man I wish we had a raw BBC feed. Add in local commentators bookending ad breaks, and we miss a big chunk of coverage. Thank god for live timing from f1.com.

As Horner said, it's only a matter of a few laps. Vettel would have won if it ended a few laps earlier. Another lap, Webber would have passed Vettel; a few more Webber may catch Hamiltion and Vettel would be behind Button.

It felt so good to have no idea who would win ten laps from the finish.

"good to see someone finally beat vettel"

vettel shakes his head :lol
Fucking loved that. Coming from his own teammate, too.

So, RBR had better fucking get KERS going on Web's car ASAP. Three weeks to nail that shit.

Yeah big lol at that. I don't think he meant to let on how happy he was that Vettel didn't win. The words started to come out and he tried to put them back in.

So much tight racing and only one DNF and that were due to a mechanic effing up.

Will be interesting what the stewards have to say about the incidents. Fernandos DRS hack, Jensons pit mix-up etc

Also, three weeks until next GP? Sigh... Life is racing, all else is just waiting as a certain driver said once

Any doubts as to Webber's pace or motivation have been put to rest. McLaren also did good to come back from shooting themselves in the foot but Button's pit error has to be one of the dumbest things I've seen in Formula 1. I've seen it happen in practice during the first race of the year but happening in a race is unbelievable.

Long three weeks ahead ... and i will lost my job meantime :(

But looking forward towards Turkey, it should be awesome.

So true it felt so much more exciting, hopefully this kind of momentum keeps up.

Hahahah Lewis celebrating with the McLaren crew. All he needed was perhaps a bit of reigning in? Taking care of his tires? not gunning it for every opportunity? The sign of a more mature, seasoned racer?

But Lewis was gunning it out there. The McLaren wall were on the radio multiple times telling him to pace himself but Lewis didn't seem to back off. The important thing is that they got the strategy right this time. Pitting after Button and Vettel and saving a set of tyres during qualifying won the race for Lewis.

I think it would be harsh if Alonso got punished for the DRS thing if it was an electrical/mechanic fault. Especially since it only seemed to open for a second & he didnt really gain from it.

alguersuari did at abu dhabi - anybody else done it besides these two?

Yeah that would be harsh. I think an important factor would be if he gained anything.

But than again, rules are rules...

Can anyone get the F1 forum up? It's not working on the red button for some reason!!

I take back everything I said yesterday, todays race was nothing short of spectacular.

Di Resta is definitely showing some really great potential.

There is usually a good stream around if you ask. Not having to look at Rusty's giant head or listen to him dribble on makes the races so much less stressful.

Any BBC viewers watching the F1 forum?

Red Bull mechanic saying Button deliberately pulled into RBR pit box to try and slow down Vettel & that it was cheating.

Worse cheating ever if that's true as Button lost the lead.

Sour grapes. After their flexi wing shenanigans they don't have much room to talk.

That's what happen when you just grab any random mechanic for their views

It's joust one guy.

Yeah but thinking about it. They both slowed down significantly as Lewis tyres were gone. The winner of that move was Hamilton who lost less time and track position...

You know it. Cheers for the tip, I'll ask next round.

Vettel was the only one who gained a position in that incident.

Well McLaren said that Button was supposed to pit one lap earlier but missed it somehow, so Lewis was supposed to pit that lap. it just seems to me that Button just wasn't focused. Jenson was leading, so if he wanted to help Lewis, he could have done it on track.

I can't wait until we get to Canada. That track already eats Bridgestone rubber for breakfast. Imagine what it'll do to Pirelli rubber.
