The Formula 1 2015 Season |OT| Formula E Feeder Series

One of the things I liked in the survey was points for fastest lap.

Not a massive amount, like 5 or something. It would force drivers to be pushing, even the ones at the back for some potential monitor points.

Question 11 on this survey. Just shows how out of touch F1 has become. Success ballast, water sprinklers, two short GPs? You mention it, every stupid idea is in there.

points for pole position
points for fastest lap in the race
points for fastest pitstop
points for not being crashed into by Maldonado
points if you're forced to be interviewed on the podium by EJ

Hellos. I was in Tribune K for P2 and got thoroughly pissed on by the clouds. I had some hapless, elderly French man snuggled up against me since I had an umbrella. At least I got to first base with someone.

I'll be at quali tomorrow, same location. I'm flying back to the USA on Sunday morning so I'll miss the race. Considering a ticket for Trib K was something like 514 euros just for race day, that's OK.

The most surreal thing about this location is that you can see the cars pass by above you as they race past Beau Rivage, toward the casino.

Edit - I also visited on Tuesday and jogged the circuit twice, which was kind of a lifetime dream come true. I stopped and took photos of the famous corners and some various shots of the pits, the transport vehicles, and general photos of Port Hecule, etc. I'll post a link in a few days, once I'm back home and have some time to sort and edit.

Damn, that picture really shows how steep the hill up to the casino is. It's hard to tell on TV.

Consider me jealous.

Yeah, it's really hard to tell how steep MC is until you're there. It's built in vertical tiers.

Have you ever played Mass Effect? Monaco (Monte-Carlo, in particular) is like a real life version of the Citadel presidium. This odd mix of green space and technology. There are public elevators and escalators built into the landscape. And they're immaculately clean, even though they're in the open air. Everything is terraced, everything is open, roofs are flat and often serve as things like small parks. The top of the huge seawall at the entrance to Port Hercule is also a park. You can walk directly into the Monaco Yacht Club without any kind of gate or restriction. It's just... open. There are terraced walkways that just suddenly end, overlooking the water or the street below. It's kind of a maze, a beautiful one.

I have played it! That actually sounds quite relatable haha! It really does sound like a fantastic place (obviously it looks it) not only for the race but for the venue in general. One year...

Edit to save double post: Bernie has actually lost the plot http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/119108 (to summarise, he basically wants GP1.5 running alongside the big teams)

It's the same with Francorchamps, when you're standing next to Eau Rouge, you can see the cars in the distance at Bruxelles and Pouhon.

A thing of beauty really.

There is merit to the customer car idea, it just needs to be introduced in such a way that the mid-field doesn't become a group of shadows to the big teams. Bernie's proposal, of course, is just too extreme.

I really hope it's nice and sunny with blue skies for quali for you. Let's be honest, it looks a bit shit with clouds like that. If you go Monaco you want the whole package!

Just expand on the idea of what Haas F1 is doing, give the opportunity for teams to buy a core package but still design a lot of elements that really matter themselves.

Has BE said anything in the last few years that wouldn't completely destroy the sport?

Vettel:

"The first time I drove an F1 car I was scared and I don't think you get that any more," the four-time champion said.

"It is still difficult to drive fast but probably back in the years you needed a little bit bigger balls."

Vettel added: "That is what the drivers would appreciate - and the fans, so it looks more spectacular".

Alonso:

Alonso said the drivers did not want the current situation "when you are so slow and you cannot have wheelspin because you overheat the tyres"

Vandoorne is gonna tear shit up in F1.

Oh yay, another GP2 protege who'll end up in a sub-par F1 team and ultimately spend half their career fishing for a good car.

Hamilton was the last explosion from GP2. Grosjean really deserves a chance in a consistent top-5 car. Palmer might deserve a shot in a lower car.

I'm not saying the Stoff isn't going to be amazing in F1, but what happens when/if the McLaren is total shit again? Like it has been for the last 7 years.

Wasn't Rosberg also from GP2? Didn't he come in the same time as Hamilton? I honestly can't remember for sure.

The weather says overcast but no rain. I don't really mind it because it makes it more pleasant in the grandstands for hours on end without the sun beating down. Besides F1 quali there's also the third F1 practice, a GP2 race, and two Formula Renault 3.5 quali groups. That's a long day in the sun. For viewing on TV I'd prefer sunny weather.

Palmer might deserve a shot in a lower car.

Spent 4 years in GP2. In first 3 was beaten by all 3 team mates (including Nasr and shit Ericsson). Won in 4th season driving for DAMS, team which won 3 out of 4 titles in Pirelli era.

Worthy of a backmarker seat like Marussia maybe, but nothing more.

Rosberg won GP2 in its first ever season back in 2005 and got promoted to Williams in 2006. Hamilton won GP2 in 2006 in his rookie season and the following year drove for McLaren.

As Mastah said, Rosberg won the previous year.

That's why I said a 'lower' team ;)

These times are interesting for McClaren, gives the impression the car isn't bad, but engine is shit and Honda are to blame mostly

emmm...ok

It hasn't been shit for the last 7 years?

2015: it's shit
2014: shit
2013: shit
2012: car was great, team was shit
2011: No one could compare to RBR that year, the car might not have been shit, but it wasn't a winner
2010: Okay I was wrong on this one
2009: started the year so badly there was no hope of ever defending a title

I realise it was a hyperbolic, crappy post to make but McLaren hasn't been in championship form since 2008.
