Hmm, is the question that hard? Its actually pretty easy if you "connect the dots".

Well, hint: Raiden's name. MGS2:SoL.

Sorry for the delay to the people that I'm sending games to. Everything's pretty much ready to go, except for one thing. There has been an additional development. What I thought was FFV and Link to the Past actually appears to be FFV plus one other mystery Japanese SFC game. I am giving Wark first pick at which one he wants and the other one will go up here immediately after.

So, Wark, check your PM! If I don't hear from you in another day, I'll have to assume the one you want is FFV.

Since this seems like the right place to say this, I have a bunch of stuff I want to get rid of as well. At one time, I was going to try and sell the entire lot, because I figured it would cost a shitload to ship it all.

I have roughly 500 magazines that I've collected from various publications over the years. Nothing special in them, unfortunately. I just have them sitting in boxes and I'm starting to get tired of the boxes being there. I have EGM, GamePro, Tips and Tricks, GMR, and a whole bunch of other ones. I might go through them tomorrow and see what I actually have and let you guys know if anyone at all is interested. I can imagine someone loving those pencil puzzles in Tips and Tricks or the Hsu and Chan comics in EGM and GamePro.

I forgot I made a spreadsheet cataloging what magazines I had. It's not near the total amount that I have at all. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p-YuZ1x9AMDNl9aoKotpZPQ If you have a question about a particular issue out of those or another one not listed, PM me and I'll see if I have it for you.

OK, so the first-come-first-serve "who's reading GAF at work" contest is on. The mystery cartridge is none other than (I believe, no guarantees) Seiken Densetsu 3. Who wants it?

i would love this. is it playable on an american snes?

Yes, in this case it probably is. This is the game for which I removed the circuit board from the original cartridge and placed it in the cartridge housing of a SNES game. The only lockout for SNES / SFC was that the cartridge housing had a different shape, just like N64.

Like I said, I can't guarantee the battery works, or even the cartridge, since I don't have a SNES anymore. But it should work.

So if you want it, it's yours! PM me your address.

Ahaha. That sounds more complicated than the "cut pieces of plastic from SNES" alternative. (Though I found that trickier than I first anticipated, too.)

Yeah, it was pretty goofy. Actually I didn't do it. This was back when I was living in Japan and I mailed the SD3 cart back to some friends that I used to play Secret of Mana with. They didn't know what to do (and probably didn't feel comfortable modding my SNES) so they set about to gutting the cartridge. Afterwards, when I got back, I modded my SNES to play FFV, which worked a lot better.

When I got Sin and Punishment for the N64, I modded the cartridge that time because it was much easier.

Ah, the good ol' days.

Neo..

Raiden symbolises the player him/herself, btu somehow I do not think that is what you were looking for :p

Edit: and his real name is jack: slang for John.. which could be interpreted as John Doe.. anybody/nobody
which brings me back to my point of symbolizing the player him/herself and by the way a total newbie.
edit2: the whole big shell incident was meant as a simulation of the shadow moses incident, with Raiden taking the place of snake, to see if soldier can be manipulated into performing certain tasks.. which worked, cause as far as we know this has been refined in the MGS4 setting. Powers that be control the battlefield. ok enough derailing..
Now somebody gimme some free stuff!!!! *wink*

I'm pretty sure you weren't supposed to give the answers on the thread.

I remember "modding" my SNES for a few import games back in the day. DBZ Super Butoden 2 already was SNES compatible (had the two grooves) but Rushing Beat 2 wasnt. All I did was get a phillips screw driver, place it on top of the plastic tabs preventing certain SFC carts from properly fitting, and gently bashed em down using the screwdriver and hammer.

Worked perfectly, no damage to the system, SNES carts worked perfectly, and all SFC carts worked perfectly. Heh my mom went to promptly get a refund on the SNES converter :lol

I miss my self modded SNES ; ;

I like the phrase "gently bashed them down"

Ok, since the MGO beta can be downloaded now, i'm gonna do a raffle for one code.

Rules:
1. Limit 5 people
2. You have to answer the question, and PM me with the answer to participate.
3. If someone posts the answer anywhere, the raffle will be cancelled and no one gets the code.
4. Hoarders will be ignored.

Now, the question is: "What does Raiden symbolizes?"

Congrats on killing the raffle. Your free stuff awaits you in a dark alley.

Use Delivery Confirmation.

This isn't fair to that one person who did PM you the correct answer and actually followed the rules you made, that's all I'll say about it but if that were me I'd honor my word to the person who actually followed the freakin rules.

Just wanted to let JodyAnthony know that the package arrived in excellent condition. I played a bit, and it's quite fun. Not something I'd buy on my own, but definitely something I'll get a lot of mileage out of. Thanks!

P.S. Keep an eye on your PM's over the next couple of weeks. I've got something to offer, but no $ to spare for postage ATM.

I did get Super Monkey Ball jr. today, thanks so much! :) Its a pretty faithful conversion for a GBA game.

Still waiting on Harvest Moon and Get on Da Mic. =/

I sent it out the same day as everything else, so I have no clue where the hell it is :( I'm afraid the microphone inside poked a hole in the package or something :(

Still waiting on Tetris Plus. Forgot who was supposed to be sending it though...going to have to backtrack abit. And now my FFVII hopes are dashed, the raffle just dropped of the radar completely.

I was gonna to, until i noticed i have one of the slips with the useless 9 digit code. :(

So, I have some stuff to give away. The first is Killer 7 (no manual) for the PS2. PM me please.
I'll put up more stuff later.

Please PM me only if you're willing to wait a little while. I'm only home for this weekend, so I won't be able to make it to the Post Office on time. It really depends on what happens, but you may have to wait a few weeks.

sweet, glad it got there.

rc213, did SotC get there yet?

Some of my things have been sent out, others haven't. Waiting for a new payday--can only handle so much at a time. Being a grad student means one must be very frugal between checks.

The magazines I received from a Master Ninja were in great shape and arrived a week ago. Forgot completely about this topic and felt bad about forgetting to say thanks. Thanks man for the magazines.:D

I have something else to give away. For those who are interested, I have a little harmonica keychain from the game Bumpy Trot or Steambot Chronicles in the US. It's still in the package. PM me please. USA only (sorry).

Don't have a NES so might as well unload 4 NES games: Captain Skyhawk, Batman, Rescue, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Nice games for anyone with an nes/nes clone; I assume Rescue is actually Rescue: the embassy mission, from kemco-seika?

I'd take you up on your generosity, but I own those except for batman (which I heard was pretty good back in the day)

So still no Get on Da Mic, Pokemon Stadium, or FFXI yet guys?

I apologize for having not posted! I meant to when I thanked Teknoman for Pitfall 3D (that game has, surprisingly, aged very well) in another thread, and it just slipped my mind to thank you for Pokemon Stadium. I haven't had a chance to fire it up yet, but I'm looking forward to stepping back in time from my current Pokemon Battle Revolutioning and giving it a whirl! Thanks a ton.

Also, the magazines from Junior Asparagus and a Master Ninja have been awesome reading material. Especially those Xbox books, Ninja! Those demo discs are so time consuming, I'm really enjoying sampling a lot of these games I'd normally have never even bothered knowing about. I've only worked through like a tenth of 'em. Thanks guys!
