The level of ire toward ads nowadays is a bit crazy. Advertising deals pay for multimillion-dollar events. We're so spoiled by Netflix rights gigs and various pirating sites that we can't take 1-2 commercials every 20 minutes.

we can't watch the BAFTAs though can we? serious question, I don't know.

I think for this show, they need to stop trying to insistently pitch the worth of video games to what sounds like a non game audience. just stop it. reeks of insecurity. just get on with it.

People were complaining about this show being boring would be bored to teared at the BAFTAs, which follow a more black tie presentation.

I found it enjoyable, it could indeed improve and that ending felt weird. The Iwata tribute was nice. Hopefully they improve for next year since he already mentioned them.

BAFTAs would be too dry and boring for streaming crowd honestly.

I find the BAFTAs more entertaining than this ad-riddled garbage. That show is ACTUALLY about the nominees and the winners.

You are absolutely nuts.

Uh huh.

It's streamed every year.

It felt like Keighley really was trying to give the appreciation and awards angle a stronger push this year. I'm not going to cry foul when it seems like a lot of the pain comes from the commercial reality of it- all the shilling moments just suck the life out of the thing, but I don't know how else it would even happen were it not for that type of support. Changing Keighley won't change that.

I will say that, despite having the look, voice, passion, and history to pull off hosting this, Keighley always comes off either exhausted and/or stressed. Either he needs to work on that side of his gig, or get someone else. No shame in finding your own replacement for the betterment of this thing you clearly care about.

My pick, if it is to continue, would be Day9, who I think can strike just the right tone to blend appreciation, hype, and some knowing humility.

D'aw some of you guys are downers. Only got to watch some snippets but from what I've seen this has been one of the best VGAs/TGAs in recent years. So much better than last year's and that excruciatingly awkward one the year before with Joel Mchale (shudders).

So true it hurts, lol.

My highlights
- Konami shots
- Iwata tribute
- Jade's spoiler alert

The rest was just a bunch of cringe and meh announcements
and EA sponsorship of course
. At least the award winners were more on point then they usually are. I do wish we could get a game award show one day that actually seems to be directed at gamers, I don't get why it always has to look like some crazy mtv show. Maybe I'm the one that's out of touch.

Honestly, maybe the shot at Sutherland was harsh, but i'm glad someone finally stood up for Hayter. He's the real big boss.

I really can't feel anything but disdain for Kayleigh given that he straight up lied about there being Nintendo news

its embarrassing

This is an awards show and people were throwing around low blows just like the idiots on the net who harass developers over their work. Have some professionalism ! No wonder gaming has such a bad stereotype when the people at the top cant act civilized for a few hours.

Reggie, even though im not a huge new age Nintendo fan you are one class act.

This year's show is a decent improvement over the terribad previous years. More professional (with a few exceptions) and more classy, while still having some humor. Much less cringe-worthy. Keighley did a good job. Nice Iwata tribute. For the most part I was OK with the award winners. Very disappointing slate of world premieres...Psychonauts 2 was probably the most interesting premiere. The previous years had WAY bigger world premieres.

The Twitch stream remained functional and good quality throughout. (I didn't pay attention to the chat because I knew it was gonna be utter shit.)

I do think the show had too many adverts, some annoying shilling, and I think it lasted about 30 minutes too long, and I think it played it a little bit too safe at times. I can see why some folks were bored.

Jade looked like she drank some hard stuff earlier in the evening.

Show was excellent, even with Raymond trying her damndest to ruin it.

Great respect to developers, gamers, and fans. A very well done production.

God's had his chance.
I gotta say though - everyone commenting on Sutherland like Jade cut him deep or something like he hasn't heard a metric FUCKTON of hate over his role as Snake already.

Like he gives a shit. Just smelting that trophy down into a sherlock and finding Hamill so they can bluntman the fuck outta the back room.

Geoff's show keeps improving little by little every year. There weren't as many cool reveals this year, but I thought that they did better on the awards side of things (Jade Raymond's gaffe aside...)

Also -- great tribute for Mr. Iwata with a moving speech by Reggie, an excellent piece on Westwood, and Konami getting what they deserve.

So, good job overall. As I say every year, though, I think the show could probably benefit by cutting back on the musical acts. I think just keeping it to one performance would be fine.

I'm SOOOOO glad i wasted two hours watching a shitty version of last years show.
Bloodborne or MGSV should have been GOTY, not Dragon Age Inquisition #2
Garbage premiers
Garbage deadmouse ending
No kojima

Bloodborne is really niche and how many metal gears have been made but your knocking witcher because another game happened to come out?

Wow.

After 25 years in gaming witcher is the first rpg I've really fallen for so I'm happy for it and CD red
