Controversial view, but I am just okay that a remake/expansion/whatever can get a game of the year. I can see an argument for it.

But, there should be a category for best original game of the year as the top tier original and new gamer deserves to be featured with an award.

Also.. I think Pope Doritos and Mountain Dew show is a joke to begin with so.... I ultimately don't care. It's for marketing for the AAAs.

I'd vote for Rebirth and I haven't even played it yet. Haven't played Astro Bot either but it would take a lot to beat FF for me. Waiting on PC versions of both.

Metaphor is decent so far but the UI is horrific and I'm finding myself not really wanting to play for some reason.
Played Balatro for a few minutes. Wasn't for me even though I like card games.
Haven't played Erd Tree.
Wukong was garbage.

Lots of good games this year but, as with most award shows, this is a popularity contest.

Its funny they could do 40 categories easily because they only let at most 10 categories have stage presence with a speech and the rest get a little footnote powerpoint sheet in between trailers/ads.

GOTY - Shadow of the Erdtree
No real contest for me but one could say it shouldn’t be eligible when you need the base game to access it.

Astro Bot is great but too easy besides the symbols levels. Still amazing. Loved the end.

Black Myth is fantastic at times but too linear for my taste. Haven’t finished it yet.

As much as I liked Erdtree, I don't think DLC should be included because it cannot stand on it's own without the base game. I'd swap that out of the list and add in Stellar Blade.
