The Game Business: Switch 2 is Nintendo's biggest UK launch, but doesn't surpass PS5 or Xbox Series

It's 400 quid($540) and the games are 70 quid($95) for a handheld that people buy for their 8 year olds
are you actually surprised?
Only diehards are going to be there day one and if Nintendo continues with their refusal to lower the price of their stuff don't expect it to get any better soon.
I'm sure once games arrive that are exclusive to the Switch 2 and more appealing, some might take the plunge.
But this isn't surprising at all.

The largest gaming market in Europe.

Emm. Europe as a whole isn't big in gaming. Japan alone probably sell as much consoles in general as whole Europe on a monthly based. ( I could be wrong I don't have data , but the monthly / weekly charts when it comes to consoles sales that pop up here every now and then is a joke. 300k sold in France.... Dude Saudi Arabia sells more than that )

Just because it's a big contenant doesn't mean it's big on gaming.

Yes you are completely wrong and Europe is a huge deal in gaming.

Nintendo sold more Switches in Europe than Japan, and the Switch is all Japan buys. PS5 is probably 4 times as big in Europe.

It's the second largest regional market, for Nintendo at least.

Switch Hardware Total: 152.12m

Regional Split Total: Japan 37.20m, Americas 58.31m, Europe 39.20m, Other 17.41m

Model Variants Total: Standard 96.44m, Lite 25.48m, Oled 30.20m

I'm in the UK, don't know anyone who got a switch 2 yet and only 1 person who was excited but the launch but he decided to get a new 9079xt for his pc instead after seeing launch reviews. I mayself am intreasted in getting a switch 2 and have someone who said they will buy my switch 1 from me if I do upgrade. At the moment though I am waiting for the improved battery version at least maybe oled too.
I hate how switch games never go on sale too so the price increase for switch 2 doesn't make me any keener to purchase right now, kind of hope thing Nintendo have a change of heart and drop prices.
