Wait, I don't really get the complaints. He seems.. fine? Or at least as someone who hasn't played the game yet he didn't seem to do anything glaringly dumb for someone who's probably still learning the game.
And watching that boss fight was weird. I have no idea why the orbs weren't hitting the boss when you shot them. When I played it they hit the boss right away.
The weapons have varying ranges.
Which is why he could shoot them right? So they were supposed to fall and hit the dragon in the water. He's saying he doesn't know why they didn't do that.

Edit: This is more of a question then a statement. I believe that's what he's saying.
That's pretty much the basis of the GB hate here on gaf.Because nerds get angry when someone doesn't play a game exactly like they do.

Jeez, Patrick tiptoeing around just saying "this game is really bad" and really not knowing anything about this series made neither for an informative nor an entertaining representation of the game. At least they could appreciate Majima like good people should do.
i wouldn't say the game looks horrible, but the controls and the camera seem pretty bad (edit: the on-foot sections)
I love the city environments in the Yakuza games. You get a great sense of place from them. I think it's odd that there's like a million games set in New York City that don't exactly feel like the city beyond the odd barked accent and the obvious landmarks, and yet Yakuza can give a good impression of being Tokyo without much competition.
Maybe it's because you have to walk everywhere? I don't know.
Even GTA 4?

It's surely just the sense of familiarity coming from the fact that Kamurocho is the exact same fucking place since the first game that gives you this impression!
Yeah. You know, the parts where you play the game? They look horrible.
At least it's not a series of mall floors like the Citadel. lolIt's surely just the sense of familiarity coming from the fact that Kamurocho is the exact same fucking place since the first game that gives you this impression!
Patrick should totally play through Yakuza 4. On camera. Maybe, with someone else watching. Make it a daily thing or something.
I think to 'get' Dead Souls, you have to have played Y3 and Y4. The odd thing about the Yakuza games is that you get to love how dated some of the gameplay is, it's very hard to explain. Easier to explain is love of the characters and storylines, and the sense of humour that is found in all of them.
If you have that under your belt, then the dated gameplay in Dead Souls isn't going to surprise you really, and you'll be more focused on the characters and what's happening to this city you know so well.
Yeah, judging the Yakuza series from just Dead Souls is like judging the Mass Effect series from playing ME3 in action mode.
The next endurance run. It's perfect, since it can get as wacky as Persona 4.Patrick should totally play through Yakuza 4. On camera. Maybe, with someone else watching. Make it a daily thing or something.

No, they're awesome. I'm sure Brad made the whole game look like shit, though. Anticipating his three star review.
I think 4 stars. The loot aspect is amazing
Good grief, did he ever play Micro Machines? It's the same guys.
On-foot sections of Kid Icarus(which seemingly make up the bulk of the game) look BAD. It's like Sakurai designed this game in a vacuum without ever taking a look at a competent third-person shooter.
I'm also surprised that it actually really does require the stand. How can you design a game like this?
The on-foot sections are bad. I didn't particularly enjoy the controls at all when I played it, but the TPS-esque parts were especially bad. It just doesn't feel good dragging the camera around (that's literally what you do) while simultaneously trying to move around and shoot stuff.
It looked like playing a PC third person shooter but your mouse surface is the size of a playing card so, you have to constantly lift the pointer.
I should really play Yakuza 4. Loved 3.
Blah blah blah just watch the damn thing and then complain
Yeah, you read like you'd misplaced one of you Icarus OT posts.
