The Giant Bomb Quick Look Thread 2

Checkpoints is how you get anywhere with that game. I played the prior games as well without actually knowing what I was doing most of the time. And I love/hate the games for it.

This latest Trials quick look was the final straw. Finally bought the game and just spent a little over an hour playing the game. I've got 48 medals and I'm loving it thus far.

HOW THE GODDAMN FUCK DID BRAD EVEN GET TO EXTREME WITHOUT KNOWING HOW TO BUNNY HOP

I'm not one to normally rag on the GB guys for "sucking" in QL's or whatever, but Jesus Fucking Christ. You could tell Ryan knew what was up and had the right idea usually.

Instict? Luck? Who cares?

Bunny hopping is absolutely intrinsic to the harder difficulties in the game; it's like he's been playing Street Fighter for two weeks without knowing how to throw a fireball. Outside of the fact it's actually almost impressive that he was able to unlock Extreme without somehow doing that, I literally don't understand how someone could play that much of the game and not figure out that simple of a concept. I think one of the License Tests even tells you how to do it. My wife who has never played Trials before in her life understood and was doing it within 5 minutes. It's baffling.

I am sure he used the bunnyhop all the time without realizing it has a term or whatever, ease down.

Watching the TNT and QL I don't think so. I'm not actually angry AT Brad, I just am completely flabbergasted that he didn't pick up on it at all and that he was somehow able to get as far as he did without doing that (which like I said is kind of impressive). I love the Giant Bomb guys, but they're not who I ever go to for "serious" gaming skills or whatever.

Oh god, in that trials supplemental Ryan taking the controller and doing in one try what brad looked like he'd never be able to do in his entire life was like the biggest godsend ever. Those extreme tracks do have parts that could feasibly take 300-500 faults to get through, but that first checkpoint was so damn simple. I'm just so glad brad got learned that it was him being bad and not the game being unreasonable there. Quicklook was made right there.

I recounted using the windows calculater as one of those click counters and brad having a little practice last night had 51 faults and showed no signs of even getting close. Ryan beat the entire track having never seen it before this quicklook with 56 faults (57 if you want to count that misfire at the switch).

Very satisfying to see brad put in his place. He'd probably do a lot better if he did the tutorials again and learned how to bunny hop again.

Supplemental quick looks are a great idea. Going back to something once you're deeper and can show off a more drastic difference than the beginning moments of a game. I also just like watching them play Trials.

Cool something I didn't say or imply in the vaguest possible sense.
Ok, fine. Coming down on somebody who doesn't share your point of view, case in point Brad's performance in the trials, is really unnecessary. Some would say he played like shit other feel he did fine, it's a forum and learn to except that not everybody will see eye-to-eye.

Look, I've never been one to come in here and rail on Brad for Quick Looks, but there's no questioning in this case that he's simply not very good at Trials. That's okay, it's not a defamation of his character or personality, he's just not very good at it. I don't see why it can't be left at that.

If you really think that's the case... ok.
At least I am not click-counting the re-tries of someone.

What, i thought it was fun. Im not upset or anything. Figured it be worth it too since other people might want to know.

How the heck did I never see this picture from the OP. It's great.

You're still completely misinterpreting what I was saying.

I just dont get whypeople post about how they think one of the giant bomb dudes suck at games. No one is listening. Apart from people who share the same opinion.

Trials endurance run. Won't ruin a story/game for anyone watching, and will be the ultimate test of endurance.

*complaint about being bad*

I think for the most part it's just light-hearted poking fun.

I'm the first to defend the guy, but you have to admit it was particularly egregious in this QL. Brad: "I think I almost got it" - 50 identical tries later he's in the exact same place.

And Ryan doing it on his first try was COMEDY GOLD.

The trails quick look was great. Apparently brad didn't know about bunny hopping? Is that like a key skill? Loved that ryan got it through most of the first track.
