"You were right. You really did approach this mission with a certain efficiency that says 'I've played this 15 times." Haha.
It's not a roadblock though. They're choosing not to do it. They chose to do it in the past, they choose to film in their offices all the time. It's seems like an arbitrary decision, and I have very little doubt the quality of the resulting quicklooks is not the reason they're not doing them.
If they gave a shit about quality, their video wouldn't be dogshit quality.
I think it's far more likely no one watched the Vita videos so they don't bother making more of them.
Yeah, it was kinda neat to see what it'd actually look like to play, with all of the touch stuff I mean. For what it's worth, I didn't think the Vita launch QLs were that bad, they were able to convey what the game was and how it looked well enough.
I'm just sad this means we'll probably never see a P4G QL.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I haven't really enjoyed most of the quick looks this entire year so far (some I haven't even bothered to watch after like 2 or 3 minutes in), but I don't know why off the top of my head. I do the same thing as well where I have them in the background as I do other stuff.
There has still been a few standouts I guess, though.
The decision was purely about quality, but you can believe whatever crazy conspiracy theory you want.
Dunno what video you guys are watching but I understood things perfectly from Patrick explaining them. Getting the feeling you are all going into watching the videos with the assumption that Patrick's explanation is going to suck, and therefore perceive it as such.
Patrick hate. Nothin' new.
It felt pretty evident from what he was dragging and dropping, but even said it was hard to explain and better to show.Bullshit. I like Patrick and what he brings to the site.
It's just I didn't understand what the fuck he was talking about in that Quick Look.

I don't think the popularity of videos relating to future content is a wacky idea. They certainly cover games an incredibly small amount of people must care about, like those Minis they've done I'd imagine, but at a certain point, time is limited, and if you're covering the big releases, the smaller ones are inherently going to get the chop.I am not sure asserting that you aren't making Vita videos because nobody watched your Vita videos is a crazy conspiracy theory. An incorrect theory, sure, but not crazy.

Blargh, I don't like it when Brad QLs something dumb/broken. Its more sad then funny.
No no, see guys, it's not that StuBurns et al think the GiantBomb guys are lying, it's just that they know the inside of everyone at GiantBomb's heads better than those people themselves do. Simple, no?
Companies do this all the time, and it isn't lying. You don't always get the full inside scoop to the reasons decisions are made in companies. Again,I think Stu is probably wrong, but I think it is also far from crazy.
A shame about Steel Batallion. I remember how excited they originally were on the Bombcast. Guess the writing was on the wall with it being a Kinect game.
I can't even remember the last time there was a "Best Of"-worthy moment in a QL.

Prototype 2 trash can was pretty funny.
But yeah, there's been less standout moments lately.
Sure maybe there's some crazy internal politics bullshit going on, but I kinda doubt it given the company structure and the fact that they don't really answer to anybody content-wise. Maybe there is some sort of ulterior motive or something, but I really can't see them avoiding vita quick looks if the equipment was there for them to fit into their existing work-flow.
Hell, maybe that's it, maybe doing over-the-shoulder non-direct feed stuff is just too editing intensive and doesn't align with the quick-look equipment setup and work-flow they've got going (I kinda doubt it though).
shallow in what way?Krater is much slower (and shallower) than Diablo, so I found that it works pretty well as a palate cleanser inbetween Diablo sessions.
Cool art style and great overworld.
It is almost certainly that they (and their bosses) just don't like the quality of video you get when shooting off screen.
Again, I am just saying that if there were three reasons they don't like doing Vita quick looks, and the three being:
1. Quality is bad because of shooting off screen
2. More work for editing, set up or whatever associated with having to shoot off screen.
3. Views are much lower for Vita videos.
Actually, there's only one. I think that over-the-shoulder stuff looks like shit. So I decreed that we weren't going to do any more of them past the launch window. When (if?) we get our hands on hardware that lets us capture proper Vita footage, we'll dedicate more time to Vita coverage. Producing crappy-looking videos that don't convey what the games really look like doesn't do anyone any good.
I also love the idea that there's some shadow force of "bosses" that give a shit about things like video quality. Like someone would come to me and say "hey, that video you ran last week, the camera was a little too shaky for my tastes!" Hilarious.
What does Sony say when you guys bug them for equipment for video capture? Or is it something that just doesn't come up?Actually, there's only one. Krater Quick Look sold me on the game. Really interesting. Also, I know that we take it for granted at this point, but the fact that I paused the video and bought the game on Steam within 10 seconds is still crazy, even after 100+ games.
lol I did the same thing. Vinny's magic quick looks seem to get me to buy even more games.Krater Quick Look sold me on the game. Really interesting. Leslie Moonves: Your appointment to CBSi should be finalized within the week. I've already discussed the matter with the EIC.
John Davison: I take it he was agreeable?
Leslie Moonves: He didn't really have a choice.
John Davison: Has he been reassigned?
Leslie Moonves: Oh yes. Most certainly. When I mentioned we could put him back on the priority list for 360 reviews, he was so willing it was almost pathetic.
John Davison: These portable games... the rioting is intensifying to the point where we may not be able to contain it.
Leslie Moonves: Why contain it? Let it spill over Twitter and message boards, let the bans pile up in the queues. In the end they'll beg us to save them.
John Davison: I've received reports of flames in the comments. There's not enough premium content to go around, and the underclasses are starting to get desperate.
Leslie Moonves: Of course they're desperate; they can smell their irrelevancy, and the sound they'll make rattling their cages will serve as a warning to the rest.
John Davison: Mmm. I hope you're not underestimating the problem. Intelligence suggest they're behind the problems on GAF.
Leslie Moonves: Bunch of pretentious young manchildren playing at running the industry. But the industry left them behind long ago. We are the future.
I originally entered the conversation because Brad called it a "crazy conspiracy theory" when someone said that a possible reason you aren't doing Vita quick looks is that you simply weren't getting enough views to be worth it.
Dude, it's a crazy conspiracy theory because they have, multiple times now told us that this isn't the case. And yet you insist 'well, but there may be more to it!'. It's incredibly weaselly: 'gee, Jeff/Brad, it's not that I think you're lying, but you're not really telling the truth, so I want to get to the bottom of it'.
Beyond that, it's like seeing Sales Age invade GB threads, what with this insane conceit of 'hey, I'll just ivory tower up the inner workings of GB and I'm SURE it'll be accurate'.

The Vita videos that have been popping up on other sites look like absolute shit so I can't really blame them. The Gravity Rush Review Video on Gametrailers is a good example. Sony needs to get units out to the press with video out asap.
It looks a bit washed out on my end though? Then how did they record This video review of Gravity Rush?
Because if that's offscreen it looks mighty impressive. No OTS bullshit. Watch the 720p version btw, it looks almost exactly like that on your Vita.
