The original Tribes was a pioneer in class-based team warfare multiplayer games. It's vast open-spaces, multiple armours, weapons and packs, all combined with the freedom of vertical movement by the use of jetpacks nurtured the growth of some of the most skilled and impressive gaming ever. Over the past 5 years Tribes has had a solid community that lived and breathed the game every waking moment, constantly pushing the system's boundaries and always refining the way the game was played. This movie is a testament to that time and displays the truly unique and awe-inspiring skill some of these players developed.

Watch this movie and regret the time you spent with other games instead of this one.
 
I guess the seventh Pokemon movie wasn't bad if you're into that kind of stuff.

I think RE takes my personal pick, though.

I'm sure Tribes was a great game. The jetpack-oriented 'dueling' wasn't quite my thing, but I never did get all that good at it. On top of that, no matter where I looked in Tribes and Tribes 2, I simply couldn't find a good public server. Finish it off with me running T2 on a shitty PC and a bad connection, and I simply didn't get very into it. Had fun with some lan matches, though.

Sadly, I'm still on the same PC. Maybe I'll try T2 again come January.

Downloading the video now. If it's half as good as tricking-it 2 (Quake 3 video, absolutely unbelievable), I'll be a happy man.

Then I think its pretty safe to say Mario Bros, wasn't actually Mario Bros either.

The Wizard takes the cake easily, if it counts as a Gaming Movie.

Seriously though, the amount of heart that went into this film is just beyond words. I haven't seen that Trickin' it video, but I doubt it has the same amount of passion and production values that went into it. In terms of pure style (not to mention substance) this vid is head-and-shoulders above everything else out there.
 
Well, now that I've watched it... That was one amazing video. I'd still give tricking-it 2 the edge overall (best editing ever and, in my opinion, an even crazier display of skill), but this isn't far behind. Definitely enough "holy shit that's insane" moments to be worth the huge download.

...Makes me wanna try play Tribes again. The master server isn't down now or anything, is it? The past tense used in your first post makes it sound like nobody plays the game anymore. :p

If you say that Tricking-it is even better than this, then I'm definitely gonna have to check it out (downloading it now actually).

Ya some of the stuff they pulled off in Legacy are just crazy, the one where the light gets the flag toss from the Heavy and then disc-jumps off of the heavy's head is just unbelievable. I believe the master server is still up, and this video has actually caused a resurgence in interest in Tribes from the original community. Since the game has evolved soooo much over the years there's so much to download and all of that to get things working "right" that there's a pretty hefty initial obstacle. Personally, I just find it easier to start over with Tribes: Vengeance.
 
Street Fighter the movie was just plain freaky (outside of the overall wrongness of it all)

I mean, I can't remember another game that had a movie made from it, then had a game based on the movie made out of it.

Granted it was amusing for a while to play an M. Bison that looked like Raul Julia flying around on screen.

I saw it during this yr's Vancouver International Film Festival. It was good fun and show how the PC game culture has taken deep root into the younger south korean generation.

The film has bad SFX but still really fun too watch speically for us who hangout on GAF.
 
Hey Tain, I just finished watching that Trickin-It 2 video and HOLY CRAP it's pretty insane. Some of those rocket jumps were just craaaazy, like seriously I can't believe the timing, precision and accuracy some of these people had. And I agree with you about the editing, Trickin-It is definitely more professional and flashier and has 5 friggin audio tracks to boot! One area I'd put Legacy over Trickin is that most of the footage for Legacy comes from people playing in matches and not just showing off so to speak.

Honestly, I think both of these videos are a must-see for anyone that has the least bit of interest into the games industry as it demonstrates the unique passion and creativity its fans harbour. Both of these videos make me very proud to be a gamer and just elevate the hobby as a whole, awesome awesome stuff.
