The Hollywood Reporter: ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ Trailer smashes past 475 million views in first day

GTA is a religion. Even with tariffs this is going to hard push PS5 Pros.
I'd wager Pros are going to be hard to come by on or around launch. Especially if they do a blog post about any Pro enhancements with their marketing partnership. If there's any game that you want to sell them hands over fist, it's this one.

GTA VI will be indisputably the biggest entertainment launch in history, right (for a singular piece of media)? Across all mediums, across all metrics (money, hype, cultural impact)?

I guess maybe Avengers Endgame can claim to have been a more global phenomenon, or to have been experienced by more people worldwide, but it shouldn't be anywhere close to GTA VI's money haul.

Youtube? That platform has been going downhill for almost a decade. Twitter, tiktok etc yeah.

This is going to be insane on release. They'll crush the 16m first day of sales record of GTAV.

With ease.

Sorry I'm thinking it'll be 15 million. ONLY because GTA5 came out literally at the end of the PS3/Xbox 360 generation with 160 million total consoles sold. Next May, they'll probably be 100 million PS5s sold and 36 million Xbox Series consoles sold.

And the game "maybe" $80.

I hope the various platforms can handle the online traffic cause I forsee that and a lot of other problems getting your hands on the physical copy of this game on release day.

They'll stagger online multi like GTA5 it won't be there day 1 I'm betting on.

It's Microsoft and Sonys servers holding up to authorising, preloads should be done.

It will break every entertainment record I can possibly think of:
  • Most money made in first X days.
  • Fastest to $1B/$2B, etc.
  • Fastest to 10/20/30/XX million copies sold
  • Will likely be the best selling PS5 and XSX game ever within the first month, if not the first week
  • Highest number of active players for a game ever
I've been gaming since the 80s. I can't think of anything that comes close to the anticipation for this game.

Probably on day 1 considering pre-orders.

I could see it selling 20 something million on day 1. If GTA Online is part of it, then yeah, it's going to be even bigger.

I'd say closer to 30 than 15.

This is the thirsty sequel to the game that sold over 210 million copies. It's a cultural phenomenon that exploded due to the online mode. Consoles are going to be scarce and income tax checks will be sitting and waiting right on the backs of that window for release.

MAN!!!! You sound nuts lol! But if you are even close to being right on any level, that would mean consoles would be flying off of shelves leading up to this game's release.

They're predicting over $1 billion in preorders. The deluxe version could end up selling closer to the standard edition than any in history depending on how they include in game currency or other add-ons. We still don't know pricing yet. All of these estimates are basing it on $70 but the average price of all the editions will be much higher no matter where they price the standard edition. It will most certainly be in the 25+ million copy range. The truly staggering number will be the amount of gross revenue at each stage.

Get your Pro's now, real talk. Sony seems to have the marketing rights, so as I said before, they're going to tout the Pro for this game. HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 was dropping hints the past 2-3 years about that very scenario. They'll be scarce around that time.

The thirst will be real. Look up GTAO roleplay server videos on YouTube... they take that shit serious. Even thugg'ed out Atlanta peeps roleplay their gang-life online in that game. Shit is wild.

The car culture scene is insane as well on there, especially since they dropped that tuner update in 2021. GTA is pretty much 'Second Life' on a mass mainstream scale.

And if theories are correct, there just may be an entire social media system within the game, where you're going to now have real life influencers, being influencers in the game where people will follow them for their antics in the game, in turn, these clever mofos will figure out how to monetize that as well.

This is what 'Meta' dreamed of.

Some at castle green have been dreaming of that very thing for a long time

You thinking Sony may have GTA6 as a pack-in for PS5 Pros? Or just have commericals saying "play it on the PRO fool!"?

Depends on how much Sony was willing to spend. At the very least, they'll have a blog post and market the heck out of it. But if there's any third party game pack-in, I can see them doing just that for this game, especially after losing the CoD one.

Just as they did for GTAV last gen, as well as Fortnite which flew off the shelves.

It'll probably cost over $100m to do. But I think it's weirdly worth it. Especially if the PS5 DE was selling for $399 in America. That would be mind-blowing! Talking about 20 million PS5s sold easily.

I mean this kind of discounts pre-loading which is going to be big here combined with a lot of people buying physical.
I have a feeling this will have massive day 1 patches with physical , wouldn't be surprised if breaks some sort of record in sales and downloads on first days

Just thought of something when I read physical. The disc is a must get in case there's some unpatched craziness that you can access.
