You're confusing the issue. I don't think anyone truly cares that much about the technical limitations regarding the game. Intent is at the heart of what has me pissed off (I wasn't planning on buying the game either way -- I'm still playing on 3GS), and I'm guessing it's the same for most other folks. It's impossible to believe this was anything but intentional on SE's part, and it's crooked dealings. They don't wanna play by the same rules as everyone else, this after being one of the most outspoken publishers regarding piracy and sales drops. It's something that causes a knee-jerk reaction in most folks with a pulse and a conscience to uncontrollably cry out "bullshit!"

You're complicating the matter when it's not that complicated.

To me, it's theft in the same way piracy is theft. No one's going to convince me otherwise.

I 100% agree that it's a total dick move, but I wouldn't go as far as theft. Nothing is being taken from you, and you still get to play the game on a device of your own choosing.

S-E are just the evil villain of gaming. Their games are always more expenside, take forever to come out and they are arrogant about it. It's just a shame their games are THE SHIT and I need them so badly.

Yeah there are borders, but they're not the "upscaled iPhone app on an iPad" borders. They're only on the top and bottom of the screen, not the left and right sides as well.

the only type of borders that exist due to this phenomenon are borders on the top and bottom of the screen. you really don't seem to understand aspect ratios.

Nice day for iOS announcements.

I had given up on the Ace Attorney Trilogy coming to the west, so it is good to kow it will finally come out.

I'm finally free from Puzzle Craft!!!!! :P

Just wanted to share!

I'm scared they announce expansions and the like when you get the castle tough!

I'm free from Puzzle Craft because the bastard thing crashed and I lost all my progress.

Ah well, twas probably for the best.

It uses a fair amount of buttons on the 360 pad, so I'll be interested to hear what they came up with.

Well, it's essentially a twin-stick shooter like Age of Zombies (with a few more actions to handle), so I'm expecting it to control similar to how those do, but I have no doubt plenty of impressions will be around tomorrow. Having beat it on the PC (with a gamepad), I have my skepticism as well, but I see no reason why it would be that much worse than AoZ, so maybe it will work.

Is this happening as much as it seems? Maybe I should stop playing until theres an update.

Dunno chap, my missus has finished it without issue. I got some sort of 'null string' error.

I did notice that my town's name wasn't on the title screen when I fired the app up. Unfortunately that didn't register as strange until I opened the app and saw everything had gone. I don't know what would've happened if I'd closed the app and re-started my phone, maybe it would've come back, maybe not.

It was a pisser though, I was level 20 something.

Well, on a more positive note, Labor Day is coming up, so hopefully we'll see some nice sales over the weekend. Hoping the new Batman game goes on sale. I need a new romp. Puzzle Craft has pretty much wrapped up for me as well. Got my castle this morning and spent the rest of my gold on the decorative stuff. It was a perfectly sized game, I think. But I'll keep around for a while to see what they do with updates.

Between The World Ends With You, Bastion, and the Phoenix Wright trilogy getting a release date/window, this has been a great week for iOS gaming.

lol ios haters starting to spam the bastion thread.

That's always the best thing to come from any thread about an iOS game. Can you imagine how it's going to be as time goes by as more and more games get ported/released? Times are changing for gaming. :-)

Anyone know of an easy, story driven game? Any genre is fine as long as it is good, Bar Oasis 2 got me in the mood.

For the record, I already have Phoenix Wright and Ghost Trick, want something a little more obscure.

Sounds like you're looking for more adventure games. Check out Monkey Island 1 and 2 and Broken Sword 1 and 2.

So I was looking forward to Rhythmix, an obvious DJMAX TECHNIKA clone that was set to release tomorrow, but it was just announced the game is being delayed "in order to adjust the game mechanic because of patent infridgement. [sic]" Who knows what form the gameplay will take now, but here's the original teaser trailer.

I just started Galaxy on Fire 2 HD and it is a huge jump from the first GoF game I played on my old phone. I never did complete the original because it was fairly hard to play games with the number pad.

The Valkyrie Club expansion is currently $2.99 and the Kaamo Club costs $1.99. I skipped the Kaamo Club because I will eventually get access to it; does anyone recommend it?

I like GoF2 quite a bit so far. My only complaint is that the mining mini game is kind of a bitch, once it gets towards the end and the cursor goes wild I always lose control of it. Maybe I just suck at working the tiny virtual joystick on my 4S.

And on the note of quality games, I've been playing a lot of Super Mole Escape over the past week and it's frantic, arcadey fun. The colorful art is far superior to most iOS games I've played, the tilt controls are surprisingly great and the randomly generated levels give it a unpredictable twist. Highly recommended, it's just one buck I think.

I deleted GoF2 a while ago (largely due to iOS' terrible update system) but does the game ever get any deeper? I got as far as jumping between systems on the big star map at which point the game never seemed to become anything more than a very simplistic shooting gallery (having a ship fly through me without any effect was probably the last straw). Was there something I missed? I don't need every game to be like X3 but it seemed well below Freelancer in depth.

No, it's not really worth it.

It's also an absolute bitch to unlock unless you cough up the $1.99 for it.

So, Terry Cavanagh's Super Hexagon has been submitted to Apple, so hopefully that'll be up next week. Also, Action Button's new game is supposedly going to be submitted later this week, for real this time, so hopefully we'll see that in a few weeks as well.

Super Hexagon is good.

That's great news. Yeah, Super Hexagon is really good and I had no idea it was releasing on iOS devices. Let's hope that new Action Button game is really coming out soon.

After that the games I'm awaiting are the remake of Ridiculous Fishing, Scoundrel, and Faraway.

Likewise. I've had the opportunity to play both Faraway and Ridiculous Fishing and they are both fantastic. Ridiculous Fishing is a pretty meaty, polished game -- I've viewed it as iOS's flagship indie for awhile now and I just want it to come out already. Not sure what the hold-up is. Same with Scoundrel.

'Coming this fall' isn't much of a release date. The damn things are already translated, how long does it take to do this stuff anyway?

I'll continue to rely on you to keep myself up-to-date on them since you seem so much better at it, haha. I check the developer's Twitter accounts and websites but can never seem to find any info.

No idea, but Capcom has been bad about releasing games in a timely manner lately. They're sitting on some indie Japanese games for PC that are apparently translated and ready but no word on their end.

Its a great place to hold all your ships if you want more than one. I paid the money for it.

Bastion came out of nowhere, remember though, iOS haters will cry briny tears when we get:

Frozen Synapse
Legends of Grimrock
Dungeons of Dredmor
Baldurs Gate EE

All of those have been announced, Bastion just appeared out of nowhere. I think they had their quotas for those game you listed.

Man, I had no idea Dungeons of Dredmor was coming to iOS. Too bad it'll probably have to be iPad exclusive due to all the crap that needs to be on screen. It'll make a fantastic portable game, though.

Legends of Grimrock might be doable on an iphone though...

Just fyi, King Of Dragon's Pass is on sale for 7.99 from 9.99, and it doesn't go on sale very often. Probably one of the meatiest games/text-based RPG's you can and will ever get on iOS. People who've played it can probably give better impressions than me :P

Not sure if this was postes already, but here's a new video and screens from NFS Most Wanted. Not as good as the Vita version (understandably), but not too shabby. This version is not open world, but track based. Should be fun, I enjoyed Hot Pursuit.

Yeah DoD is iPad only due to the UI.
